  1. medwards2, Thanks for response. As you know I too got accepted to MEC but I deferred it to Spring 2010. I'll get to see you in person by Spring time-lol. Again have fun with the books and loads of reading-lol. bye for now.
  2. Congrats, congrats, medwards2. Study deligently, plan, organized and try to have a "work-school-love' balance-lol. BTW, please name the school and state where you are studying and good luck and create the 'good luck' by doing all you have to do to be a successful students. CONGRATS!!!!
  3. To all those who have posted to this thread: Has any one go acceptance leeters for Fall 2009. Will anyone be attending MEC for fall 2009. Grateful for any news and congrats to all, regrardless of choices made.
  4. To: ICAN, Good luck and congrats. I am also starting at 49, after a successful career in the finance industry. Tentative date: Fall 2009. Acceptance letters still pending. For me, 'learning is a life long process' and the wise nurses on allnurses.com gave me support and courage to pursue my dream regardless of the age factor. Therefore I am giving support to you too!!
  5. Unfortunately, todate, I have not heard from MEC for Fall 2009 intake in respect ot acceptance letter. Howvever MEC did mail & email me (seven weeks ago)to say that one of my university transcript was missing and this document has since been forwarded to MEC. Maybe we will be hearing from them soon-even this waiting process must have an end. Hope that you get in and keep the faith. Good luck to all.
  6. medwards2 Sorry, you are more advance than me. I applied for the AAS/RN. Will be doing preclinicals-Fall 2009. However for students at your level, it is expected that results/letter will be out by late April 2009. So good luck and hoping that you got in.
  7. Good luck with algebra and practice, practice, practice. You could find practice exercises, quiz and simple test re algebra by typing 'algebra for grade7-12. Put one grade at a time and build up from there. Now where more effort is needed is one step closer to improving those grades. Happy practicing.
  8. Congrats, Seasoned hopeful!! I too believe that learning is a lifelong journey and that one must try to realize their full potential, given the necessary prerequisite. I will be starting nursing as a 2nd career (age 49); so positive and forward thinking people like you give me great hope and encouragement. To all hopefuls-stay positive, do what is required-age should not limit-the sky is the limit. Good Luck-all
  9. Hi letarn2b Since reading your post, I have made some enquires and the best strategy is to have many options as possible when pursuing the AAS. You seem to be very prudent , smart (lol) and resourceful in your quest for a school of best fit-bravo! Good luck! In that regard, I will be grateful if you could pm me about Suny Clinton and Tompins Cortland. Info on tuition, passing grades, duration, location, transportation and housing will be welcomed. I will also be happy if you would keep me up todate with the pros and cons of your chosen school, which will help me decision wise. Thanks
  10. thank you-all first of all: apologies for delayed but sincerce thank you's to all, for the realistic, positive, helpful and critical responses to this thread. you all helped me to make an informed decision and i am happy to annoounce that i have registered for the adn/rn programme.:heartbeat:nurse::redbeathe being new to the site, i erroneously posted the "thank you" as another new thread and had difficulty retrieving original thread. i am now more familar with the site and is making the correction now & here-always learning-lol. thank you all for discussing both sides and all sides of this "2nd career analysis". i have registered for fall 2009 and is currently awaiting acceptance letter-staying positive. my planned route into nursing is: rn-> bsn-> msn and to familar myself with patients and patient care facilities i will enroll in a 6-8 weeks cna programme-prior to fall 2009's rn start date of class. thank you all and i have never experienced such warmth, willingness to help, guide and general empathy among my previous professional colleagues. it is wonderful being a nurse!!:heartbeat:redbeathe:nurse::redbeathe:heartbeat
  11. To: letarn2b Thanks for sharing so much useful information and I wish you success with your AAS programme; where ever you choose to go. Good luck and study hard.
  12. Thanks all, finally some discussion on MEC. From my recent research and readings it seems that they have restructure the programme and the results are encouraging, judging from MEC's performance at the State 2008 nursing examinations: ADN & BSN. Please see thread: New York City NYC Cuny Nursing School.
  13. For Matt and other hopefuls, like me-be of strong heart and courage!!!!! No fear either! Been in the Financial Industry for many successful years and is now making a career change to nursing- which was my first choice after HS but circumstances got me on another path. However I am embarking on my first career choice as my last career choice now-before it is too late. Don't ever give up without a fight! I am currently awaiting my acceptance letter-staying positive-can not think of rejection now-smile.
  14. Thanks for info. Are you in nursing school? If so what school? If not, where would you like to attend and why?
