I am on geropsych too! I know what you mean about violence and being freaked out. We have 6 weeks of orientation, but it is my first RN job too, so we have been told we are allowed more time if we need it! I just finished my week of desk orientati...

I just graduated and got my first RN job in an inpatient behavioral health unit. Everyone looks at me like i'm the crazy one as well! Nursing isn't my first career - and i have spent most of my career in a MH/addiction setting in one role or anothe...

I was also advised that once you have your foot in the door at a hospital, there are opportunities for float or per diem on other units- so that you can get experience in both. It is also easier to transfer within a hospital, then get in from outsid...

We have one person who commutes from Gurnee, IL. It's not too bad. The one thing she wished she had known prior to starting was about "prep". For clinicals starting in fall, you have to go in to the hospital the night before to prep, so she had to...

I am in DE11. About half of our class had just graduated from undergrad a few days before beginning! I was kind of surprised by that, but anyway - housing here isn't' an issue. Plenty of people came last minute and found places. My landlord owns ...

I would assume that to be the case..... I can't remember specifically what mine said. I just remember getting that email, logging in and being a bit disappointed. Good luck :)

If i remember correctly that's true. They will give you an email that says something about your acceptance/rejection being posted, that's when you can log in and get the information. Just a few more weeks. (Last year we found out like Feb 2nd)!

Hah! The waiting sucks, but the worst thing was we got an email from Judy Wolfe saying acceptance letters are posted, looked- I got in - super excited, then we get a second email like 5 minutes later saying there's been some errors in the letter, pl...

It was February last year - I think I found out mid-February. Yeah, they don't leave you a lot of time, but it was one of the earliest responses I got from schools - others didn't come out until late Feb/early March. I just checked - i got my accept...

I'm at Marquette. I have some issues with it. Def. cheaper, though I often question whether I would be getting a better education at Columbia, and that it would be worth paying for. Right now I feel like I'm still paying a lot, and only getting ab...
I am in a direct entry program right now. IT is for people who have a bachelors, not an ADN. You need a bachelor's in something to get into direct entry. If you have an ADN, you can bridge into an MSN program, its just slightly longer. :)

Hey All! I applied to and got into Columbia ETP for 2009. Yes, most people get the scholarship, BUT it is really just a drop in the bucket. I think most people average well around $140,000 in loans. The first year is estimated at 100,000, so gett...
I know Vanderbilt does distance learning. If you do a direct entry program, the first year is done on campus in Nashville, but you complete the adult portion online and back in your own community. There must be other distance learning, but I'm sure...

hey guys. I'm being wimbly! I'm worried i let the stuff on the chat threads influence my decisions too much! I am really worried about the cost! I already have 30k in loans....so that's a big chunk of change. Even if i extend it to 30 years, i'm...

Hey ktskinh! I am going too... i tried to register yesterday, but i couldn't get into the summer courses! I hope they have a meet and greet or something for the DE students, as I'm looking forward to meeting my classmates!

Charmed - I didn't realize you were coming specifically from an international perspective. Good luck with getting things sorted, it sounds like its been frustrating!

aspiring.midwife- I would assume since you are getting an MSN, that it would not matter whether you had the BSN, the BSN is probably required if you did not finish and get the MSN. Of course, if anyone knows otherwise, feel free to correct me. I am...

I'm just saying i don't think you need to question the quality of a program dependent on whether they offer a BSN prior to the MSN. That's all! Otherwise there is no disagreement.
freyalisa replied to jcarranz5's topic in Post Graduate
Charmed - MOST of the programs i've looked at do not offer a second bachelors - they are considered an entirely graduate program with the goal to be NPs, not RNs. Therefore, I don't think it matters much whether you get the BSN or not, because you w...
