You might want to re-consider the rolly back pack thing - your shoulders will be ever so grateful! I found a heavy, sturdy, canvas type beach bag on clearance a couple of summers ago and it was nice and roomy - and heavy! I swore I'd never do that again!
I usually have the clinical homework sheets, a snack and water bottle, spare change for the vending machine, pen light, scissors, stethoscope, palm pilot, note pad and pen.
All righty, Here I Am! Again, Sorry, Boni - I just followed your directions and wasn't even thinking! SO let me re-state the above with my name..... Hi - Just discovered this thread and wanted to add my two cents. I am moving on to 4th semester at CLC and I have found that (1) You don't need an expensive stethoscope with a pediatric head - a regular stethoscope works adequately on infants and children and (2) Kmart special white sport shoes (under 20 bucks) work fine, too. A rolling backpack is an excellent idea and the palm pilot is great once you start 2nd semester clinicals. Just wanted to say that you needn't spend a fortune on "quality" stethoscope in excess of $100 or shoes for that matter. You'll be spending enough money on nursing books. See? That wasn't a too bad of fix, now was it?
