  1. I cannot speak to that since I only sat for the CWCN exam. But I would assume it is logical to believe that the same would hold true for the foot care exam. Good luck!
  2. Wow! May I ask what you were charged with? Seems most are offered drug court or some other alternative to discipline...were you?
  3. Keep looking...something will come up. It's more difficult depending on the area you may live in...rural vs. metro. You might consider taking a prn/pt position in hopes it may turn into full time...or maybe you'll be satisfied with those hours depending on your financial needs. Seems as if your assessment skills would be your greatest asset...valuable in many areas. Good luck in your quest.
  4. I've had co-workers like you who preferred nights for some of the same reasons you stated. For whatever reasons they were able to adjust their life and their body to function on night shift...something i was never able to do.
  5. A couple of articles...they are numerous if you do a google search Nurses on Night Shift Helped by Sleep Rooms Why Power Napping Might be Right for the Nurses at Your Hospital - Articles Archive - RN Jobs, Nursing Articles, Los Angeles, Orange County, San Bernardino
  6. Look at the practice questions on the site. Each question is referenced...where they got the answers to the questions. Buy that book and study it. If you know that material you will pass.
  7. Some folks just can't adapt to night shift...I'm one of them. I felt physically ill most of the time during the years I worked night shift. I think research is showing what my body already knew. I have read where facilities are actually implementing nap times and such related to the new research. Hopefully this will become the norm. Remember...your health is most important.
  8. I remember having some of those same thoughts a long time ago...when I took a night position. I think it is individual and you won't know until you do it. I had friends who also had a family (children). They loved night shift and wouldn't work any other shift. They were able to sleep. I, however, never got used to night shift. I had trouble sleeping during the day. I resorted to Benadryl but that left me with a hangover. I was always tired no matter how little or how much sleep I got during the day. Then on your days off you have to try to switch back to a normal life so you can spend time with your family and get things done when the rest of the world is awake. Night shift actually left me feeling ill most of the time. You know yourself and your sleep habits. Maybe you could have a trial run at night shift (even while not working) and see how your body adjusts, how you feel. Don't be like me and feel horrible on the way to work because everyone else is going to bed and you are just starting your shift. Good luck!
  9. There are also mandatory hours of recent practice in the field (I think 2000) to be certified as CWCN. This has to be verified by your employer. Then you have to pass the test, which makes the certification good for 5 years. There's a big difference between being a treatment nurse (or similar) and actually being certified by one of the two agencies.
  10. Hi. How long did it take you to hear from the prosecutor? I guess it's different in each county. What were you charged with? What did the drug court mandate? When were you offered a consent agreement? What are the stipulations? Sorry for the questions but information is either limited or overwhelming on the net...hard to make sense of it all. Thanks.
  11. try this site for an overview: http://www.oxfordshireccg.nhs.uk/wp-content/uploads/2013/05/Audit-Template-for-Compliance-with-a-Medicines-Policy-in-Care-Homes-with-or-without-Nursing-v1.41.pdf try this site for a MAR audit form....tailor it to your needs http://apd.myflorida.com/training/docs/mar-audit.pdf
  12. Lawyer has not even ventured a guess.
  13. Just looking for anyone with recent experiences here. Was questioned about diverting and admitted way more than could be proven. Will likely go to drug court so criminal part will be gone. Any idea how long it takes to hear from BON and possible punishment? Seems like sanctions are all over the place from months to years. What does your license actually say after you have had discipline? Thanks.
  14. Omg!!! I was searching this site for help. I am having the same problem. I am new to mds but i am able to read. All 4 of our dates match (ard, rb2, raps completion, and careplan completion) which is not only incorrect (imo) but is also illogical and impossible. But that's not the worst thing...everyone is signing section a either before or on the ard. When i tried to correct this and told them that essentially every assessment up to this point is wrong, they looked at me like i had grown 3 heads. I am in danger of losing my job over this. I have refused to do any more assessments or sign anything until they make their decision on whether i am right or wrong. If they refuse to see what is black and white i will have to quit. I can't knowingly continue something that i know is wrong. What a mess!!!
  15. Hello all, I need advice on several issues. I am an RN who will finish my BSN in March '09. I intend to sit for either CWCN or CWS soon after. I have the requisite wound care experience for either. Which certification do you recommend....why? What is the best way to study for the exam? There are so many classes, books, CD's, etc. Some of them sound gimmicky to me and seem very costly. Thank you so much.
