Hi there Carrie, Not sure where you are, but I started two months ago at RCC, Randolph Community College in Asheboro, NC. Love it and expect to be certified around September, if I pass the state exam. Hope this helps! Bones

North Carolina Roll Call
Bones Here, Checking in to say hello and that I have finally started my CNA classes at Randolph Community College here in Asheboro. I'm still studying to get my degrees in substance abuse counseling, but had to sideline that for the time being to get this certification in nursing (a man's got to work you know). My first test tomorrow evening, so wish me luck, as I wish the best to you all in your endeavors! More to be revealed... Peace

North Carolina Roll Call
Well hello neighbor..! I too am in Asheboro. Born here and lived in Greensboro for the largest part of my life. Recently I was laid off from a long term job and career of which I was changing anyway. Just hadn't planned on being so soon! I have been in class online for substance abuse counseling, but I have had to drop that for now to find employment and something in the same line of education or certification to further my career change. I am VERY interested in achieving a CNA and working locally. Have you found anywhere to do this in a timely fashion? I am going to call RCC today, I didn't see anything about CNA classes online though. Anyway, nice to see others close by. I could use all the help I can get and I am more than willing to help others if I can in any way. After all, that is why I am changing my whole life at this late stage; I feel the need to help others while helping myself to achieve this goal. Thanks for being here..!

New & need advice
Hi everyone, I'm new here and trying to start a new career, beginning with CNA certification w/possible quick hire position here in NC while I continue my degree work. Question: Does anyone have any experience with the following link and this method of certification? I have been burned before with an online college and their credits not being worth anything when transferring to another college. That was a $8000.00 mistake and almost a year of my time. Thanks in advance for any help.

Yes, finding the correct structure for my work and certifications/degrees are challenging. With the trio I have in mind (SAC, Spiritual Caregiving and CNA), I believe the order of achievement would be in the reverse order as I have just written, right? That is, CNA, Spiritual Caregiver and then SAC. Are there any specific, or general time frames for certification in nursing? I am under the impression that here in North Carolina the certification process is only a few months. Does this sound right? Are there any prerequisites other than a high school diploma? This is one of the sites I have been referencing my decisions upon. Thank you all for your support. I have many online forums that I frequent and you folks have begun with stellar attitudes..!

50 Years Old and Just Became a CNA Would Like to be RN
Thank you so much for the website and the encouraging words. I do feel a need to give back to the community through substance abuse counseling and working as a CNA. I suppose at my age the realities of changing careers are intimidating to say the least. I have found it necessary to stop and find which needs to come first; that is, how do I support myself while learning and achieving certifications? My past career was at best becoming a chore and then out of the blue I became laid off indefinitely. I look at this as God doing for me that which I could not do for myself. I couldn't quit that career of almost 30 yrs.; so someone had to do it for me! Thank you again for your help. I will continue to be here asking what I am sure may sound like silly questions, but knowing in my heart the career move is best for myself and others who have suffered an addiction of any kind.

50 Years Old and Just Became a CNA Would Like to be RN
Congratulations on keeping up with everything it takes to help others. I am a 49 year old male struggling to change my life and career; first, I am going back to school to earn a degree in substance abuse counseling. That degree is a long way off at this point, as the state I am in requires a masters these days. In the meantime I am looking into spiritual caregiving certification and I would love to become a certified nursing assistant also. I am new to this whole thing so anyone reading, if you could give me a push in the right direction any and all help is appreciated. Thanks to everyone, and thanks for giving back to your community through your practice.
