Lvn to adn
Not sure about ASN but, indiana State University has an LPN-BSN online program, any clinicals need to be arranged in your state. Most states accept it, there is a map of which states Nursing board accepts their program. Some advice, you don't need the college network study material it's 3000 you don't need to spend. I live in Illinois and am going to start next year. I have to Clep out of the Math and take one more English class. Good luck.

New Home Health Nurse with Questions
I know :) that's why I put that I get paid 30/visit. My company pays the RN's 45 a visit not forty like I said earlier.

New Home Health Nurse with Questions
What state are you in? I've been an LPN for one year at a LTC I am now doing home health and get paid 30/visit but I do not have guaranteed hours, it can be slow in the beginning but everyone tells me (other nurses) that it'll pick up. I think that pay is low for an RN, I'm in Illinois and at my company they pay the Rns forty a visit.

Nursing Home: Tips on how to be faster in med pass?
"I could go on about an LPN who didn't accept the task I gave her. I'm an RN, so, um, nope, I'll keep this comment short." What does this comment mean? Um, You are aware that LPNs do not work for RNs, right? I was going to give you some tips until I read that part. Good luck; you have a lot more to learn than a faster med pass.

Anyone attending Ambria College for the RN program?
To lababy, what do you mean no one will hire you? All of my fellow students have jobs and I just got hired. When you say it's only state certified and not nursing, what are you saying? I'm on the registry as a nurse. Just wondering what you meant.

Getting a little discouraged with the overcrowded schools, anyone else?
Home health care is flexible

Getting a little discouraged with the overcrowded schools, anyone else?
I don't think I'd quit my job if I were you because you can only take one biology at a time for example a&p part one before you could take part two. They are consecutive, so you would be able to work and take one class at a time. Good luck.

Australia or New Zealand?
Does Australia and new Zealand hire lpn/lvn's, what is the hourly rate? Could I go on a work visa for six months or so?

Getting a little discouraged with the overcrowded schools, anyone else?
You can take most prereqs online through any college. I'm in Illinois and the online classes like psych, algebra, sociology, health etc can be enrolled from any student from any state same price. The school out here is an accredited community college, it's Joliet junior college in Joliet Illinois. Good luck.

Attitudes in healthcare (possible rant sorry)
I agree with the others...leave! You will run into people like that anywhere but not everywhere. Some employers are on glass door.com and former employees are able to leave reviews of that company. Working in ltc is emotionally draining but has its rewards too. You have to find your niche home health care is a more relaxed atmosphere, more one on one care. Med assistants cannot transition to Lpns or Rns keep that in mind too. There are so many different things you can do with a nursing license you just have to find what's a good fit for you. Nurses can be catty you'll have to learn how to deal with those ones but a lot of them can be awesome. Besides nursing, physical therapy assistants make great money, are able to travel, work one on one with patients too, my sons thinking about that, it's a two year program. Food for thought, hope you feel better I'm rooting for you!

So confused....
If you need to help out at home, I'd suggest the lpn program, I just finished one here in Illinois. It only took a year because I had a lot of prereqs done. I do not advise working full time while in full time school, it's stressful enough and then you have clinicals. I lived far from school so had to drive a total of 4 hours a day, sit at school, test, clinicals, go home take dare of my 80 year old mom, 4 kids, a husband and barely making our mortgage I am 39. You can do it but it will be hard you have to be in it 100 percent, those nursing teachers will not cut you slack. As far S the cdl, it doesn't sound like that's really your passion, you only live once this will be over in the blink of an eye. Do not be tempted by becoming a medical assistant those classes are not transferable and you cannot go any higher than that. An lpn can bridge to an RN then bridge online for your bachelors. I'm not sure what state you are in but I'm in Illinois and almost impossible to get in the nursing program even with a 4.0, I went to a private school with no wait list, they are a bit more expensive but I'll make that money back. Best wishes

Nursing in Afghanistan, Iraq etc
Hello, I was curious as to the name of the contractor your husband worked for. Would they hire an LPN and how much experience do you need? I know someone who said the nurses make about 180,000 out there and 97,000 is tax free. He has been there under a different position and he said he thinks the people out there were paramedics, not nurses, there were some nurses, and he said they would get paid higher of course, what do you think?

LPN School, Americare Insitute in Hanover Park Illinois
I just got back from Americare's information session, and I have mixed feelings. On the one hand, there is no waiting list, that's great. However, I'm not putting a 1,000.00 NON-REFUNDABLE DEPOSIT down. The only way that I can do this is through Financial Aid, not SallyMae(harder to qualify for). At the Community Colleges, they offer Federal grants and loans, here at Ameracare, they say that they are very sure they will get approved to start accepting Financial Aid, but cant guarantee it. So, if I put my 1,000 deposit down to hold my seat, and they dont get approved, well then I'm out 1000 bucks. I cant take that chance. They seem like ba great school if you can afford it. Maybe it'sjst me, but a girl and her sister showed up and she just happened to be a graduate and was praising the school, I was wondering if they had planted her there, I dont know. Take your pre req's at a community college, they want to charge like 700.00 a class, and 895.00 for the c.n.a, that's crazy. I think Im just going to see if they get approved for financial aid, and if they do, I will join, but i'm not risking the 1,000. Has anyone gone to the info. session last year r before and heard talk of them getting approved to accept financial aid before, do they say that every year?:uhoh3:
