  1. I had that problem too...nothing dangerous or exciting really happened in my clinical experiences so a lot of times I'm really stumped for answers. On my last interview the interviewer took my experience into account and allowed me to answer some hypothetical situations. I am taking more time to think of situations/scenarios before interviews. Good Luck with your interview..keep us posted!
  2. Be prepared to answer situational/behavioral questions...like "tell me about a time that you have had to work in an emergency situation" ? From what I am hearing that is trend in interview techniques...It had been years since I've interviewed for a job so I was quite surprised.
  3. I did the Pearson Vue trick in the parking lot of the testing center and got the good popup....been checking every since and still the GOOD pop up....I wont believe it until I see it on the BON.
  4. Got it focuss 78...THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  5. I guess you might need my email address duh!!! lol [email protected]
  6. Hi...If possible can you send me the pdf file you have for the delegation book...Im scheduled Aug 1st and need all the help I can get...thanks in advance!
  7. Congrats!!!! Im scheduled for 8/1..where will you be working?
  8. I agree with Sweatpea...the lectures are recorded of the actual classes so you get to hear everything that the students in the class hear. I had heard so much negative info about the programs in the Bham area that I decided to go to Wallace and it is the best decision I ever made. Hey Sweatpea!!!! Have you taken boards yet?
  9. Wallace State in Hanceville...very good program. I graduated in May and completed their hybrid program.
  10. Thanks!!!! got it
  11. I cant answer a lot of your questions, but I took my Compass exam @ Lawson and was able to use it at Wallace State. I too decided not to go to Lawson for their nursing program and am pretty happy with my decision.
  12. So far it's going great. I don't consider it a self taught program by any means. I am in the Hybrid program which means that I don't attend the lecture portion of the classes. I am able to listen to them online. It requires more discipline but, my instructors are always available if I have problems with the content. It is my opinion that the instructors want the students to succeed so they do whatever is necessary to make it happen. Im not really sure about the the number of students that have not continued with the program but, Im sure there have been. I do know that there were some that decided that nursing wasn't for them and Im sure there were others that didn't pass their classes. Overall, even at my worst I would still recommend Wallace State. Im not really sure how they handle transfers but, call the nursing department and see if they can help answer that. I'll help you in any way that I can! What semester are you @ Lawson?
  13. Oh and New Student Orientation has been rescheduled for Monday the 11th @ 8a in the student center.
  14. The math validation is only for students who withdraw or failed to progress in the nursing program and are seeking reinstatement into the program.
  15. It's in Hanceville. It takes me 30 minutes to get there from Gardendale.
  16. Shutterbug, Im not really sure of your location, but you should also consider Wallace State. What are your pre-req grades? If you only have say one C and a pretty good Compass test score you probably have a better chance of getting into Wallace. As someone who started Virginia College years ago, I would make them my last option. I went there several years ago and what I didn't know was that the credits don't transfer anywhere so basically you finish with them or you are screwed. Once I heard that my credits would not transfer and tried to confirm it they would not give me a straight answer. They wanted to know who gave me that information. They never would just come out and say that nobody would accept their credits. I basically called every school I could think of and asked if they accepted their credits and kept getting "NO". I work for a hospital and they DO consider where you attended nursing school. I have heard the complaints about new grads that are not prepared. I'm not saying that nobody would hire a Virginia College nurse, Im just letting you know what I hear. Please know that I am not trying to discourage you, I just think you should explore every other available option. Think about it even the things you mentioned in your post are questionable/misleading Our pharmacy techs here take a math test to be considered for a postion PERIOD. Why would you go to school for that? Good luck on whatever you decide to do!
  17. swtpea, check your inbox.
  18. Hey sweatpea!!! Its been a long time and I was wondering how it is going for you?
  19. I went ahead and purchased all of the books. I would rather be safe than sorry. Wallace was pretty good about sending out their letters. I believe it was around the first week in July when I got mine and the deadline was June 1st.
  20. Im not sure about the cutoff for Wallace, but I heard 164 somewhere. The letters for Wallace came out early in July I believe around the first week.
  21. You are welcomed...see ya there!
  22. That sounds like the mail where I live. When my normal postal carrier is off I get everybody's mail EXCEPT mine. I can only imagine where my mail goes. The city of Hoover has classes for CPR. The next one is 9/5 and its only 20.00. You can register online.
  23. Thanks Jace, I've been trying to figure out how I am going to afford all my books, uniforms and supplies.
