freetobeme82 - hello! i just discovered this school in an internet search i did yesterday. i am waiting on a call back from someone in the nursing department. do they have an evening/weekend program? it is good to hear that they have their accreditation now. how are you doing in the program?

My advice would be to go for the BSN. You will have open electives (able to take classes you want) and you could just take some of the med school required classes as electives for your bsn. You don't have to have a biology degree to get in to med school anyway:)

Yes Apple, they do require the CNA class and license now. This became a requirement last year. With the cna class you can choose to take it in I think it is 8 weeks or 16 weeks. You do not have to work as a cna though to get in the program but you have to get the license.

Sorry that you are going through this, but I have filed bankruptcy before and you can not include student loans in a bankruptcy. Try for a forbearance or a deferrment, they are very easy to get. I think you can do them over the phone now. If not then they will always lower your payment to something affordable for you, just call them.

Hi, I know that CLC(College of Lake County) has recently revamped there program. Is anyone currently in it? How is it going? Just looking for a general update. I am going to apply for the program this summer after my cna class and hopefully starting in Jan 2012! Haven't heard from any CLC students on here lately. keekeedt

Oh that is cool! I would not be getting the cna license either, but it is required to get into the program in my area. I am willing to take whatever job I can get after graduation as long as I get the proper training.

Hi Everyone, I have all my pre-reqs, except for CNA class/license and microbiology. I am so close to getting into the program, but I am scared of completing the program and not being able to find a job because I have a husband and 3 kids we can't just move anywhere for me to get a job. I have worked so hard to get my pre-reqs. I am taking the cna class this summer and applying to get into the program by January, but I do not want to be wasting my time. My husband just applies for a forbearance and he gets approved everytime. You should try getting a forebearance.

Thanks for all the feedback. No you are not a bubble buster, you are just giving me info. I know it is challenging getting in already. I wish I could apply for the Spring 2010 semester, but I still need the CNA class. I underestimated myself and didn't sign up for a CNA class this fall:cry: So now I have to wait and take it in the Spring which means I've made myself have to wait until the Spring 2011 semester. That is okay cause I still need a few classes (PSY220, SOC121, CMM127, and BIO 125). Micro is full, so I am going to do the SOC and CMM class this fall 2009. I will get there though:wink2:

Yes, this is a good book to study from. You should be able to get it for under $30 online or at a bookstore. I took the NLN in Dec 2008 and only scored a 73%. My problem was I didn't use the book that much, but I am using it solely for the next time I take the test. The program I am going into requires at least an 86%, possibly higher, to get in. I am taking it again in Aug. Good luck!

Thanks robinrene112! I've looked at other schools in my area and they look at the NLN test score and your science class grades, but they consider indistrict students first. All of the biology classes that I have taken I have gotten B's in. I only need Micro now. I have a plan! I am going to study really hard and retake the NLN in the summer, get my CNA license this summer also, apply to the nursing program for Spring 2010 in the fall, and take Micro in the fall. KeeKee

You're right Jonny B I do go to CLC. Yeah I didn't think about that, if some people tie in test scores then they do look at your grades, but initially they only consider your test scores. I've tried researching other schools also, like Harper College and Oakton College, but they consider in-district students first. I got a B in A&P and BIO123. I am taking Micro this fall. I am going to try and get in the CNA class this summer because I would like to apply to the nursing program this fall. Hi Everyone. The comment about nursing schools considering many factors. I wish that were true about all of them. The school I am trying to get into only considers your NLN score. The top 60 scores get in each semester. I took my test Dec 16, 2008. Composite score 112 and percentile 78:cry: Not to discourage anybody. I am definitely going to study harder and try harder. I will have plenty of time since I have to wait 6 months before I can take the test again. KeeKee

I took the NLN Dec 16th. I studied, but I guess not hard enough. I scored in the 78th percentile with a composite of 112. I believe I did horrible seeing that hundreds apply and only 60 are accepted per semester. The school I go to selects the top 60 scores on the NLN and doesn't consider your grades in any of your biology classes. This has not discouraged me though. I do have to wait 6 months to take the test again though, so I have plenty of study time. I also need to get my CNA license because it is becoming a requirement as of Fall 2009. I am praying that I get into the program in January 2010. KeeKee

Hi Jimmy, I wrote down your schedule and it looks to me like if you can drop the Sunday shift that you may be able to handle things a little better because you are going right to school from work with no sleep:cry: I know it is easier said than done, but I think starting your week off well rested will help you manage better.
