  1. Hello, I am French and I am going to start my first job as RN in 3 weeks!!
  2. Hi everyone, I am also new as RN.Can you tell me if you are earning more money during working week-ends and Holidays?I would like to know because one hospital told me that they don't give me more money if I work Holidays or Week-ends!!And they pay $1 extra per hour for night shifts. Is it the current rate? Thank you for your answer:)
  3. Oh!I see....so next job I will certainly go for 12 hour shifts!! Thank you very much for your advice.:) Joun.
  4. Hi Mischelle, I can tell you that this statement is true.I had an interview for Surgical unit and they told me exactly the same thing!!Unfortunately..... Good luck! Joun.
  5. Hi everyone, I would be interested to know ,after how many years a nurse can obtain a night shift schedule of 10 or 12 hours? It is my first experience as RN and I took night shift(8 hours) instead of rotating days and nights. But,I don't think I can work more than 2 years with this schedule. Thank you for yours answers.
  6. Hi everyone, I am happy to notice that some nurses share my opinion about the rotation day/night.Besides,I don't understand why it's difficult to find a 10/12hrs night shift in Med/Surg unit.It may solve the issues of night/day rotation! Good luck!:wink2: Joun.
  7. Hi everyone, I would like to know if it's possible to obtain a RN position, 10/12 hrs night shift.,in Surgery or Medical Unit?I 've got my license as a registered nurse and actually,I am applying for a job.It seems that most of jobs opportunities are offering rotating shift? So,I was wondering if when you start your career as a nurse ,you have to work in 8hrs shift only and with rotation evenings/nights? Thanks a lot for your answers. Joun.
  8. Hi everyone, Thank you very much for your concerns and advice. It's obviously a good idea to rescore and I will get my feedback! Good luck! Joun :wink2:

  12. Bonjour, I really enjoyed readind this thread!I'm joun and I am French.I am actually taking my English exams and passed the american RN license.I'm living in Cleveland(Ohio)!I think that you can find an agency which will hire you as a nurse assistant(aide soignant).I don't have the address of this agency but it was in Paris. The name of this agency was "Bastille".I remmember that because I was visiting nurse(when you give nursing care in patient's home) and I used to work with different kind of people from different agencies. So,try to find something to give care at home. Also, you can find a little job as a nursing assistant to take care of old persons it's a good way to improve your French and have money!Feel free to e-mail me if you need help!Good luck! Joun.
  13. Thank you very much Suzanne4,you have always good advices :) Joun :balloons:

Hi everyone, I'm a foreign RN,I just passed my N'CLEXRN and I would like to know how is the work in Med/Surg nursing during the night float.I plan to work for 10-12 hours(but would prefer 10 hours).Which is the nurse/patient ratios?Which is the salary? Can I always work in night float,I mean no rotation with day float?Thank you very much to answer me. Joun :)
  17. Hi everyone, I wanted to give you some news about my friends, one has passed the NCLEX -RN after 75 questions and she has just received her result today by mail after 4 weeks.Unfortunately, the other friend has failed ....Thank you very much guys for your concerns and good luck ! Joun.
  18. Hi Suzanne4, When you suggested to MyabutRN to take a complet review course,if she was foreign, what do you propose?Do you have any reference about this complet review course for foreign nurse?Thank you! :) Joun.
  19. Hi TweetiePieRN, It's kind of you to answer me so quickly, but my friends don't have social security number or digit number because they are foreign graduated and they actually don't work. So,they can't verify by this way.I think they just have to wait and pray to pass,I tried to reassure them and to tell them that it can last 4 to 6 weeks to obtain the result....,but I think that you should expect earlier your result when you passed the NCLEX,it might not be a good news ......I don't know .....it's not fair ....if they failed their exam why should they wait for long time to have a bad news!!Thank you for your good advice. Joun :)
  20. Hi Dansamy, Ouah!!Thank you very much for your answer,so .....!Do you know some friends who passed the NCLEX and received their result between 4 to 6 weeks?Anyway, good luck and take care :)
  21. Hi everyone, I would like to find an answer. Why the BON in California is so long to answer by mail to all candidates who took the NCLEX exam?Actually,I have two friends, they took the NCLEX ,one the 31st March, the other 6th April, both are still waitting for their result by mail! What does it mean?Do you have any explanation about the delay....?When you passed the NCLEX,the result is supposed to be delivered quickly or you can wait for 4 weeks? Thanks a lot to answer me.Good luck to everybody! Joun :)
  22. Hi Sharann, You said that it can takes couple of weeks to obtain the result by mail,I have a question :Do you think it's a bad sign when you have to wait for 3-4 weeks to obtain your result?I mean if the result is bad , they may give the answer later and when it's good they may send the result fastly,or there is no rules ?Thank you very much to answer me.
  23. Hi IONE, I wish you the best. You know my friend is in the same situation ,like you she took the exam the 31st March and she doesn't have SSN ,so she has to wait for the result by mail. She called the board and they answered her that she should expect to obtain her result almost 10-13 days later. They seem to be busy and I don't know why? So,try to stay relax and keep busy!I know it's easy to say .....good luck. Joun. :)
  24. Hi everyone, Congratulations to all new nurses.I understand what you feel.I was in the same situation few months ago.Actually,I'm trying to reassure my friend ,she took her N'CLEX-RN the 31st March,She didn't receive answer yet,the computer stopped at 75 questions and she seemed to be ok for last questions. What do you think? How many weeks do you think she has to wait for the result? Thanks a lot and good luck! Joun.
