failed Nclex
Hi, I passed the NCLEX on my 4th try. Take the remedial course. It should help. I had a CD with 4000 questions and did 100 a day (with rationales). I was advised to do no more than that because the brain cannot absorb anymore than that. When I finished the CD I was ready. That's how I did it. This is in New Hampshire. Good Luck! Oh the CD came from the Saunders NCLEX book.

Geriatric Nurse certification
I'm looking for the best possible practice test questions to take the board certification exam for gerontology as I have worked in long-term care for multiple years and would like to be board certified before any other certification. Any suggestions? Anything I have looked at is geared towards an APRN and I am an RN.

New Grad - Offered Nursing Home Position but want to work in hospital, advice?
Most every new grad wants to work in a hospital. I too, wanted that, but ended up in LTC. It was the best way to get experience while learning to prioritize, learn meds and treatments. The elderly are like working w/ grownup children. I work in a Dementia/Alzheimer's unit. I planned on leaving after a year, but have remained for many more years and plan on staying. It has been a wonderful experience so far and I look forward to work almost every day. (I do have my'not so good' days, but they are few and far between) Choose a place you know you can stick with for awhile in case you don't find your "dream job" right away. It is no fun going into work when you don't like what you're doing...and your patients/residents can sense when you're not happy. Good luck. You'll get there sooner or later. =)

Failed for third time...
I failed the RN NCLEX 3 times as well. I too have really bad text anxiety. So what I did was I took the LPN NCLEX (because my student loans were about to kick in and I needed to work). I went to school to be an RN, but was able to test for the LPN because I had met the competencies. So I took it and passed. I got a job as an LPN in a nursing home. Then I began an NCLEX-RN prep program called "Suzanne's Plan". I found out through AllNurses.com This study program takes about a couple of months to complete but it is sooo worth it! I passed on the 4th time! The creator of this program knows what she is talking about! (and it is FREE!!) The best advice I can give you is look into this program and take your time. Best of luck to you

I too have taken the RN NCLEX 3X and failed. I got my LPN a few months ago and have started again studying with Suzanne's Plan. I am doing so much better with answering the questions that I am actually anxious to take the exam again.:yeah:I love my job as an LPN, but I went to school to be an RN and won't give up until I get it! Hang in there everybody:redpinkhe

I HATE my first job as a nurse...
Dear SweettartPN, I would say get out before they take away your "spirit". My first job as a PN is being a charge nurse on an alzheimer's unit. I have been fortunate enough to have the appropriate training and feel comfortable asking questions. Also, the CNA's that work with me are awesome and do their jobs very well. My opinion is that if you're looking over your shoulder all the time, it can't be very good for you or your patients. You didn't spend all that time studying and testing to be treated so badly. Nothing is 100% perfect, but if you're going to work, you should be happy. Best of luck to you:D

I feel excluded at work.
Hi. I know what you mean about the gossip chain. It happens everywhere, believe me. You know that you are a good person and are there (working) for the right reasons. People who gossip about other people are INSECURE. Keep your head up. You will find a working "buddy" sooner or later. Happy Holidays!

Failed for third time...
I too, have failed the RN NCLEX for the third time. I took the PN exam and passed..thank GOD! I just finished Tip 1 for Suzanne's Plan and hope to hear from her soon so that I may start the rest of her plan to pass the RN NCLEX when I take it the 4th time. It can be discouraging, but I keep pressing on......:prdnrs:Here's to those of us who don't give up!

Ugly Comments From A Nurse Friend
I think it takes a special person to do psych nursing, or L&D, or peds, or whatever the specialty may be. We all tend to be drawn to what we are comfortable with which usually means we are good at our jobs. Sounds like rocknroll's friend has forgotten that there is more than one kind of nursing and that they are necessary to treat all kinds of patients.

I need a boost, I am getting so tired
Oh enjoy these days of pre-req's. The nursing program gives a whole new meaning to hard work and no life! I have to say it was the hardest thing I've ever done, but the most satisfying and rewarding. This is a second career for me and I am thrilled that I chose nursing. I once had a professor tell me (before I was accepted into the nursing program) to "get your life in order". It takes determination and sacrifices of all kinds, but I have not regretted it.:nurse:

Checking Meds As A New Nurse
As a new grad, I am constantly looking up meds. I have found that there are many meds that are commonly used and have learned about rather quickly. The rest of them I try to look up during "down time". For me, there is too much going on to look up every single med, every single time I am about to administer it.

NCLEX Takers Support Thread
I have failed the RN NCLEX X3 which resulted in my losing a position that was offered to me before I graduated nursing school. Recently I sat for the LPN boards just to see how I would do and wouldn't you know....I passed with the minimum number of questions. I have secured employment as an LPN and have started going through the Saunders book in order to participate in Suzanne's Plan. I am so discouraged about failing the RN exam X3, but can't help feeling I can still pass the RN exam some day. The only thing is that in my state, I can take the RN NCLEX only 5 times and then it's all over. Would any of you suggest going to another state to take the exam before I try taking it in my home state again? (If I've used up all 5 times in my state, and then pass it in another state I would not be able to transfer the license to my home state)

WHY ARE NURSES SO RUDE to CNA's?
Hey Nurse2be123! Hang in there! Remember to treat your patients and your nurses the way you want to be treated. Some people are just plain ignorant! You will be a great nurse and will have the CNA's bending over backwards to complete those tasks you assign. XO Been there, done that!

Similar Repeating RN NCLEX Questions
To KizzyKatLove: I have started Suzanne's plan about a week ago. I 'll never give up. I've worked too long and too hard to stop now. I may be down, but definitely not out! Thanks for your encouragement!
