February 09 NCLEX Test Taker Support
thank you everyone for all the support...The lord is beautiful....everyone learns differently and i think what i did wrong the first time was try to put so much information in my brain. You cant know everything.Nclex is not trying to see if you know everything, its not a knowledge capacity exam. They want to see if you can be a safe nurse, which is why safety and infection control and management is highly important to know and understand. My advice is to do Kaplan questions online and write the ones you got wrong...Always read your rationales for wrong or right answers.....I have my saunders book, but after a while i knew my content, it was down to answering the questions right. I didnt finish Suzannes Plan but i read over what was sent to me.I dont think it wouldve helped me though if I did it alone. Saunders questions are too easy and not realistic to the exam, you have to answer harder questions because when you take the exam, they will be somewhat easy for you. Hope this helps and good luck

thank you so much. i did my friends strategy and took my RN keychain with me, and kept writing RN and my signature on the whiteboard at the top when i took my exam today. I didnt look at the timer or how many questions i did at all, it distracts. Im assuming i stopped at 75 because I was only in there for an hour and half. I dont know how i feel or remember my last question,I only remember my first and a couple of others that were kind of easy..Gosh, I pray that i pass.I will soon know in 36 hours.God bless

Anyone Up For Random FACT THROWING??
AVOMEJET, great work, but i have to something to point out for your number 6 under cardiovascular. I was taught that patients with peripheral arterial disease should keep their legs dependent and patients with peripheral venous disease (as in DVT) should elevate their legs. Each one is different as far as circulation to the extremities and the body. Its also in Saunders.

Just took Nclex RN Oct 6th 2008
For those who failed twice or more than twice, did you feel any differently after taking it after the first time? Were the questions easier for you since you kind of knew what to expect since you sat for the boards the first time? How did you prepare after the first time you failed?

your welcome. So did you find out if you passed or not?

I agree with those that say the newer editions are better. My Nclex review required the Saunders 4th edition and some people had the 3rd edition and whenever we were trying to make a point and to highlight an important note in the chapter, the people who had the 3rd edition did not have it. The 4th edition is more appealing to look at, colorful and with new alternate format questions, which is pretty big on the NCLEX now i hear even though i had none on mine.I aslo have the SAUNDERS alternate format book and it helped me a lot if i had gotten SATA on my exam.I learned a trick that if there are 6 options, most of the time its 3 or 4 answers. If there are 5 options, most of the time its 2 or 3 that apply. The NCLEX was upgraded in the end of 2007 with the new passing standard.I wanted to get an edition that was more updated to the NCLEX change, and that was just my opinion.Hope this helps

yes i totally agree...suzanne told me i overstudied and also my friends which is why i failed. I also studied the night before, but just review main points. I now realized i shouldnt have done that. It may have worked for my friends that passed, but it didnt work for me and everyone is different. Cherryhugz hang in there. I wonder why you cant see if you passed or not. Go to the DOH website and check or pearsonview. I know how you feel, I found out yesterday and I was the tutor in my studygroup, and people asked me questions in nursing school, and I get to the NCLEX, and get a big fat FAIL on my report. Well, i got some words of encouragement and it is just a test. It doesnt determine if you are a failure or not. I dont think its realistic to even tell you if you are safe or not either. Its exam questions that are way too tricky because they have been reworded. In nursing, its about communication skills and if you misinterpret what the doctor says, then it your responsibility. However, on the NCLEX, its easy to misinterpret what the question is asking and you cant even clarify it; its just you either answer it right or wrong, how is that realistic? oh well, i just have to pick myself back up and take it again. It took me half a day to get over it, but I am not alone and you arent either. I got through nursing school, i can get through a silly exam

oh no, i dont think so. the quick result is something different, its wherever you filled out your application, the doh website and you can also call to see if they have your license number, cause if they dont, they will say you need to go to quick result because it has been processed-meaning you failed and they cant tell you that you failed over the phone, but if they give you the license number, then of course you know

sorry to hear that. i found out i didnt pass this morning.Did you feel like your exam the 2nd time was easier than the first time? Many people have told me that after the first time, they got to see how it was for themselves and the format and it helped later on...I did like 30 questions froM THE Q-BANK form kaplan and i should have finished it, but i was already doing a ton of other stuff and i heard too many sources isnt good and that i shouldve have stuck to one main thing, but occasionally other things to to build up on it...its confusing with so many different type of questions, my freinds think i overstudied for it, i didnt know that was possible,,hang in there. My manager told me some of her best nurses failed it a couple of times,,,,,im determined to pass this my 2nd time in 55 days,,,,its just a test, not my life and its not realistic either...

Math questions on NCLEX
oh ok,,,so then basically putting a number to the nearest 10th place is the same as to the nearest decimal point? Just reworded differently. No, she put her answer as 4 instead of leaving it at 4.2, she wasnt sure. But it stopped asking her anymore dosage questions, so i dont know if it was right or wrong.thanks though

265 q's in NCLEX..
thank you so much for your support and advice. Yes, i did a little bit of Kaplan Q-ban but maybe not enough. Then again, i was doing other stuff so i had no time nor enough room to place it in my head. I will try to finish it after i take my little break and rest my brain.Thank you and Congrats again

Math questions on NCLEX
thanks, but my friend had a answer 4.2, and you had to put 4.2 to the nearest decimal,,,i dont know what that meant

265 q's in NCLEX..
i failed my nclex,,,,ugggh,,,,but i have been using the saunders book, but i will try suzannes plan the exact way,,,and use lippincott for questions cause ive done everything else.....it was weird and a shock for my friends, they all thought for sure i would pass,,,they believed me more than i did, but i will not get discouraged and will take it again in less than 2 months and pass. I worked too hard to get to this point and i will not give up over some silly exam that doesnt really tell if you are safe as a nurse. I was told by a nurse that some of the best nurses were ones who didnt pass the first time.....

Math questions on NCLEX
and what is 4.2 to the nearest decimal point. i heard that nclex could ask you things like to the nearest decimal point , but i only know of to the nearest 10th or whole number
