Hey guys! I am curious about the current hiring condition of new grad nurses in Texas. Is it bad or better than other states. Do hospitals still hire new grad nurses?

Hi Girlnextdoor! Thanks for the comment and your affirmation of my decision. I also read a lot of complaints about that agency and I was discouraged from the issues of abuse and maltreatment to the caregiver. Thanks for the wish. Wish you the same. I guess I will just stick to my original plan of finding a job in a hospital. I still keep on applying online to hospitals near our place ( at the most 30-45 mins drive). Too bad, there is less hospitals in our place compare to big cities and most of the jobs posted are for the experienced nurses. We are in the suburb. I don't know what else to do to increase my chance of getting a job. I already have ACLS certification. So far, I just had 2 interviews in different hospitals but both were negative.

It's actually an agency for caregivers with no experience or medical skills. It's kinda not appealing actually because it's for unskilled caregiver. I somehow feel insulted after all those harsdships I had to become an RN and I will end up as caregiver on that nature. They said..beggars can't be choosy in this economy and employment condition that stinks..but up to what extent that I need to be choosy. I don't know if I will accept it. Please help.

Hi! I am a new grad RN and I just would like to know if it's a good idea if I will accept the job offer as a caregiver of Home Instead Senior Care. I'd like to establish my nursing career in acute care facilities but I was not lucky enough to get a job. I could not find a job for almost 6 months of job search. What do you think about this agency? Give me some of your insights of this move I'll take. Should I accept the job offer? Will I have a great experience on this and will this help on my resume if I will look for a job in the future to hospitals?

I am just wondrin how are the new grad nurses in Georgia. What degree of difficulty you've been through in looking for a hospital job? How long since you've been looking for a job? Which part of the state has hospitals that hire new grad nurses?

I am a new grad and RN licensed here in GA. I applied in Grady for a staff nurse position more than a week ago but I have not heard any reply yet. I checked it out on their website again; they are using a new employment application tool which is different from the one I used when I submitted my application. I am interested to work thru their nursing residency program. Do I need to call the nurse manager/recruiter to know the status of my application? How did you do your application process guys to get a job in grady?

@shannon_jones_rn Wow! That's great! I did send an application to Mollen Immunization Clinic but I have not received any reply yet. Did they call you for an interview or whatsoever or you called them to follow up your application. I think that job will start on September this year, right? I am interested to have that job.

I am a new grad too. I got my GA-RN license on Feb but I started looking for a job end of the month of June. Until now, I could not find a job. I'm here in Northeast side. I just had one job interview in a hospital but my application was on pending status because I am new grad and no experience yet. Most of the job positions I can see online are for "experienced RNs". I don't know if there are really for new grads. I'm a bit disappointed and hopeless of my job hunting.

After 1 month of waiting for the result of the job interview I had, I called the Human Resource of that hospital and I just learned my status is pending because I am classified as New Grad. And there are no job positions available yet for the New grad...If there will be positions available for me, then they will notify me for an interview with the nurse manager. I just feel sad and disappointed because I never have seen any positions available for new grad in our location. If they will not hire me because I am new grad, then how can I change that title "new grad". I wanted to have an experience so I can move on and grow in my profession. Do you also have problems of having a job just because you are new grad? i don't know what to do with my situation..hope you can share your thoughts and experiences. I just want to share my ill feelings here.

Just had my interview today. It's one-on-one interview with the nurse recruiter. The questions were almost exactly the same from those questions on the websites I've visited. Just sad, I did not prepare much and I don't know if I impressed the interviewer. I forgot to ask some of the questions you suggested guys. ..I think I screwed my interview.. I have to wait for another two weeks on the result if ever I will have another round of interview (panel interview). I can't wait to hear from them.

Hi guys! I'm happy and excited but a bit worry for my job interview. It's my first application/resume sent to the hospital where I am interested to work as a medical/surgical nurse and I am scheduled for a job interview next week. This is my first application and first job interview since I got my license. I don't have any work experience as an RN. I don't know what's gonna be the questions of the nurse recruiter to me. I really wanted this job and I don't want to screw my interview. Any help please..can you give me some tips.

If you are a new grad and obtained your license by examination just recently, you don't need to have that 3 months of work experience. Just indicate on your application " Newly Licensed. Obtained RN license by examination from state of ___ ( months,yr) ago." It worked on me.

Thanks! I am not familiar about the LPN processing in GA BON but for the RN license they do issue pocket license. Based on the message of the email sent to me by the GA Secretary of State, a pocket card will arrive to me in 10 business days by mail. I assume that is the pocket license. And for the meantime while waiting for that pocket card to arrive, I could print out the page of license verification and it may serve as proof of my licensure. "Congrats!!! It is good to hear something positive about the whole process.. ( there is a light at the end of the tunnel ) " Thanks! :)...You're absolutely correct with what you said. Sometimes the tunnel can be very long, very dark, may even be winding and we feel hopeless of it but there is end of it--with light of hope, joy and surprises. It just requires great patience. It feels good when one reaches the end of it...It's a big relief. Good luck to others!

Whew! Finally, I received an email from the Board office today that my application for RN licensure by endorsement was approved by the Board and my license was issued today. I am happy of the news..after a loonnngggggg wait of more than two (2) months. I will just wait for my pocket license to be sent to me thru mail. For those other applicants...GOOD LUCK to all of you!!! It rquires HUGE PATIENCE in your application.

That's I am looking forward that after the holidays I can hear something about my application. I hope this new year will bring something new and good news, not only on my application but of the GA Board office that their processing of applications will improve somehow for the better.

I am a RN. I need to have my California-RN license be endorsed here in Georgia. My application has been sitting in the GA BON for almost two (2) months already. All my other requirements were already accepted/approved except for the report from the CGFNS-CES which would determine if I had traditional or non traditional nursing background. The said report was forwarded by the CGFNS to GA BON on Nov. 15 but until now no action taken as I did not hear any update of my application---still pending. I tried to follow up the Board office by calling them but I just got promises that they will follow up my application and still nothing happened so far... I think it will take another months, years or so before I will know the result of my application. :igtsyt:

Did you apply by endorsement as RN or LPN?

I remember you were the one who advised me to call the GA BON to inquire about RN work experience before applying for endorsement because you were approved without the said requirement. That's on the other thread/forum I made. I did call the GA BON and I was told that I will just indicate on my application form "newly licensed".

I did not get the name who answered my phone call. BTW, when did you pass the NCLEX-RN? How long since you passed the NCLEX and filed/applied for endorsement in GA-BON?

I made a call to the GA-BON regarding 500 hrs or 3 months experience preceding the application, and I was informed that the newly licensed is exempted from that req. So, the applicant just have to indicate on that section of the application form, "newly licensed". Yes, I got already the ORI and OAC numbers. Thanks
