Banner Good Samaritan
Hi kittycatlover, I was wondering if Good Sam offers any student nurse shadowing oppertunities? I am interested in OB and ER and really like Good Sam, I have done volunteer work there and really liked the hospital.

Apollo College RN Program
**Hey ChuckE, it's Stacy from Class!!! I also will be starting my 3rd semester at Apollo tomorrow and can't wait. The program has been great so far, I agree with Shannahan that I wish the clinical sites were different. As long as I'm being taught what I need to know to graduate and become licensed, the actual site does not make much difference. I'll most likely be working at a different hospital anyway :)

NET scores
I would suggest getting the NET Study Guide by Educational Resources Inc. (ERI). The math section in the study guide was almost identical to what was on the test, and the reading was very helpful as well. The study guide was only about $20 and I think it was well worth it...I ended up getting a 98% on the math and a 96% in reading. I ordered it online from eriworld.com, I know its already been suggested but I found the practice questions on testprepreview.com pretty helpful. Just focus more on the basic math and not so much the algebra, the NET test I took only had a couple of algebra problems. Hope this helps...and good luck!!!

How long does it take to get your DPS Fingerprint Card back?
I live in the Phoenix area and need to get my fingerprints done so that I can mail them in. Does anyone know where I can get them done, someone told me that UPS's stores can do it? Thanks!

What should I do!!
I'm pretty positive that PCH has tuition reimbursement...I hope you get the position, it would help get your foot in the door :nuke: Good Luck!

What should I do!!
As the other members have mentioned, it seems like the LPN route or possibly GCU may be best for you. I am currently enrolled at Apollo and am really enjoying it. According to the AZ State Board of Nursing website Apollo does have the highest pass rate (100%) on the NCLEX for Q1 2009...so although its expensive, these results may be worth the cost

How exactly do you become an OR nurse?
Ugh, that's a shame, I'm not sure if my nursing program has a rotation or opportunity for OR either. I would just really like to understand more about what they do, I have tried looking online but didn't really find any concrete information.

How exactly do you become an OR nurse?
I just started nursing school so I have a long way to go, but I am interested in eventually becoming an OR nurse as well. Can someone provide information on the duties of an OR nurse? Are the responsibilities mainly geared towards preparing the room and patient, or are you actually assisting during the surgery? Thanks

RN Shadowing...
Sorry...I am a new nursing student and don't know much about how to get a hold of the charge nurse. Would I just call the hospital and ask to speak with the charge nurse in the ER for example? Thanks!!

I have a quick question for you...the A&P teacher told us today that before entering the 3rd semester, we have to take a competency exam to make sure that we are ready to enter the nursing blocks. Can someone tell me more about this test...what is it like, was it hard, what should I study? Thanks!

Thanks so much RNforkids! So when it comes time to do your preceptorship what are some of the facility options they give you...and is the preceptorship where you spend time in the area that you are most interested in working? Oh...P.S. is one clinical location better than another (Phoenix vs. Tempe etc. ) Thanks so much for your help and congrats on passing the NCLEX!!!

Apollo College myths
Hello, I am looking for help from someone who is far along in the Apollo nursing program...when I am finished with my second pre-requisite semester and am ready to enter the first "nursing" semester are the items below all I need to have in order to advance: 1. CPR Certification 2. Immunizations 3. Fingerprint Clearance Card 4. Some sort of Basic Skills course (not sure what this is or what it is for...on the documentation it looks like its some sort of training that is in lieu of being CNA certified?) 5. Passing grades in all pre-requisite classes Also, is there a separate orientation before the 3rd semester begins to go over all of this type of stuff in addition to information about the clinicals? I just want to make sure I am on top of everything...I don't to miss anything. Thanks for being patient with me :)

Apollo College myths
hi, i was doing some research online today and saw that once i graduate from apollo i will have an as (associate science) degree, but noticed that other community colleges offer an aas (associate in applied science) degree. does anyone know what the difference between these two degrees are, and is one better than the other? i wouldn't want anything to prevent me from getting a job in nursing once i graduate? thanks
