  1. Thanks Alicia I just talked to Apollo in Portland. The L.P.N. Program will stay the same
  2. I just got an answer from Apollo in Phoenix about the Devry thing. Hi Carson, DeVry is in the process of purchasing our schools and our parent corporation US Education Corp. The deal is not complete as of yet. You can go on http://www.useducationcorp.com and read the press release from our president. I don't know if a current student posted the board, but I don't know of any changes that are planned. If the students are talking about changes before I'm aware, it might be a rumor. So it looks the the Chamberlin College thing could be a Rumor. I believe they will still be Apollo college and have the same instructors and program in Phoenix that they always have. If you notice in the article about the buy out, Devry made it pretty clear that they would retain the employees at Apollo.
  3. Great, I want to do an L.P.N. to R.N. online as well. Do you know if you are able to take out federal aid for the excelsior program. Ware did you do your clinicals? Thanks for the info Carson
  4. What was it like?
  5. Guss not; Well the Arizona fourum was way more helpful than you guyes.
  6. Thanks, but I need to get a job atleast part time while in school. So that is what the c.n.a. is for. The only thing I know how to do besisedes caregiving is drive a truck; and truck driving companies dont give a rip about your schedual. You drive when they say drive of you don't have a job unless anyone knows of some part time work in AZ that does not require a c.n.a.
  7. Thanks for the info Groovy Jeff I am taking a writing class, a pre-algebra class, Medical Termanology, and a computer class this term. Next term I am taking Algebra 1, Intro to soc, General Psy, and an elective. I hope for the sake of money that most of them will transfer. If, not atleast I will be well prepared for any compass test or placement test's like that one.
  8. Has anyone had any recent expierence with Apollo's L.P.N. Program? Any recent graduates? I am trying to decide between Oregon and Phoenix. Any help would be great
  9. Shannahan So, you are saying to take atleast one class in the first term for apollo? I think I can do that. I am still not 100% on moving. I still have the option to go to Apollo here in Oregon. They only offer an L.P.N though.
  10. I would love to stick with a communit college program. Here is my situation. I will already have two terms worth of prereqs done when I get to Phoenix. I don't have a c.n.a., because you don't have to have one in Oregon to be a med aid. I will have to get the c.n.a. in Arizona. So i will be taking like three months off from school. I can onley take six before I have to start repaying loans. So, I need to get back in to school before then. I am going to apply to the skills centers and enroll in a c.c. there a.s.a.p. to finish my prereuqs. We will see what happens. It's in the Lords hands.
  11. Thanks for all the advice guys, especially those of you who live in Arizona. I will call them though, and get the names of Schools they have agreements with. Then I will call them schools and see what they say, then I will post it here o.k. Yes they are a for profit group, but if you think community colleges and universities are not in it to make money, I would think again. I know plenty of Universities that would not accept transfer credits from community colleges. My sister got her c.p.a. Here in Oregon. She did her associates at a community college before transferring to Southern Oregon University. She even took the classes S.O.U told her to take that were supposed to transfer. But come transfer time, they took way less than they told here they would. Why?, single Mom, lot's of aid, you should get the picture. Even if uop is the only one, which I am sure it is not. What is wrong with that? My uncle is an a.s.e. Certified mechanic. He has his own shop, and makes 60$ an hour and gets plenty of business. He took his classes through the mail before the Internet. Guss what? He was still able to take and pass all ase certifications and become a mechanic. I have talked to manny administrators in my valley who have no problem hiring people who get there bachelors or masters degree from a legitimate online school like uop. It shows that they will do what it takes to get things done
  12. I want to say thank you to the people in the Arizona forums. I hope to move there in March. I have been researching all the schools for hours, and the info on this forum has been so valuable, because you can actually talk to people who have had expierence with each school. About my topic, I have been reading allot of negative things about Apollo College, which I am like 90% sure that is were I will be going. All the horror stories about accreditation and little old sally who spent 40,000 dollars on an education, and now her credits wont transfer and she has to start over bla, bla, bla. I just got off the phone with a real nice admin counselor at Apollo. She has been there three years. She told me that they already have Matriculation agreements in place for several schools in Arizona that will accept Apollo credits toward a B.S.N. You can also tranfer allot of prerequisites in to Apollo, and save allot on tuition. I will have six prerequisites that will transfer by the time I start in July. So, I will be done with R.N. in hand while you community collegers are still waiting to get in. Nothing wrong with that if you are 19 years old living with your Mom and don't have to wory about it, but for the rest of us in the real world with car payments, and rent or you are on the street: We need to get to work Now
