  1. Hi JenniferJen, I don't know how the schools are in Co., but down South all the schools I've encountered have a condition that you have to have had both of your A&P classes from the same school. You might want to check into that before you register anywhere in case you need to take the A&P I class over. Also at my school, they don't care about your overall gpa, just your pre-nursing classes and TEAS scores or ACT. Good luck! I'm sure you'll find somewhere to get in! Keep us informed
  2. congrats!! Isn't it wonderful?! I start Spring 09 too, yeah for us!! I have orientation Nov.11th, how bout you? Do you know when yours is yet?
  3. Tiak41, I am so sorry you have had to go through so much hurtful stuff! I can relate to your story very much, but all of my troubles and rock bottom came before I even entered nursing school. I have 5 years C&S thank God:). I don't think you have to worry about anyone in this forum judging you and having anything but empathy and good wishes for you. Somehow I know everything will work itself out for you and your kids as long as you stay sober! I know its hard but hang in there, stay strong, and try to forgive yourself. I hope all the best for you, thanks for sharing. Cosyla
  4. Congratulations! Isn't that a great feeling! I took mine back in July and I remember how good it felt. You made it over another hurdle. Good luck with everything else:yeah:
  5. LovesLucy, Thanks for the kind words of support. I'm sorry to hear about your mom. It sounds you're determined to make it work though. I'm sure you will. I am like you in that I will not have to work while in school thank goodness! The whole time I was doing my pre-reqs, it seemed like all I did was study! I can't imagine having to study like that and go to work:no:! I do have three kids though and my youngest is seven. They get so tired of hearing me say, "I cant', I have to study" I guess the bottom line is, we do what we have to do and hopefully it will all pay off soon! Good luck to you!
  6. I don't think you have anything to worry about. Especially if your school only requires a 65 to apply and the fact that you have a 4.0. My school required a 74% in order to apply to the program. They used a point system using the TEAS scores and gpa and a couple of other things. I made a 79.4 on the TEAS and my gpa was not as high as yours but I got in. If you can afford it(I think we had to pay about $35), go ahead and take it again, I'm sure it won't hurt anything. They will use your highest score but I think you will be fine even if you don't. Good Luck!:wink2:
  7. yes, cleaning the house is definately something I will try to do before school starts in Jan. Since I posted the first time on this thread, I have received my acceptance letter! So now I am going back over all these great tips on things to do. One more thing I need to do is: Stop worrying so much!!! I am having a lot of anxiety about the thought of failing! I have got to start thinking positive! I hear everybody talking about their husband's helping and I am a single parent, so that really scares me! I know I can do it though, I just have to calm down and learn to take things one day at a time. I'm sure there are other single parents out there, right? Thanks again everybody for all the great ideas and good luck to everyone.
  8. Lunden, you do have quite a wait. I know it feels like forever! I agree with you about this forum being a Godsend, it helped me with the waiting as well; just hang in there, you'll make it! I can't wait to hear you've been accepted!
  9. Thanks Lunden, I'm starting Spring 09 too. Classes start in Jan.09. Im going to CCTC in SC. Waiting is so hard isn't it? I will send some positive thoughts your way! Good luck to you! Let us know when you find out.
  10. I agree with all the previous posters, YOU ARE NOT OLD! I started my pre reqs when I was 38. I just got accepted to my ADN program that starts in Jan.09 and in March, I'll be 40! Still, being old is the least of my worries! I'm sure you'll figure it out, don't worry so much about age. These days people are living longer and you're only as old as you feel. At your age, you should not "feel" old at all! I don't. Good luck to you, it will work out the it's supposed to.
  11. I finally got my acceptance letter!!! I have been reading all these posts about people getting theirs and now I get to see how it feels, it feels WONDERFUL!!! I got all my pre reqs done and applied about the middle of Aug. and have been going crazy waiting to hear. I have really enjoyed reading everybody's posts here; it's helped me pass the time while I wait. I just had to share. Yeah!!
  12. Hey, That's great! Congrats!! I am also a single mom, but I'm 39 and have 3 kids. My oldest just started his 2nd year of college. I too am hoping to get into an ADN program here at my local CC. I should be getting a letter to let me know whether or not I get accepted in the next week or two. Hopefully I'll get in too!! You are an inspiration!!
  13. These are some great ideas! Thanks everyone. I think I will definately know what to ask for for Christmas this year! Also, good luck to everyone!
  14. I know exactly how you all feel! I am also waiting impatiently to hear if Im going to be accepted to my ADN program that will start Jan. 09. Good luck to all of us! I will definitely seen some good thoughts your way and you are not alone!
  15. Hi, Im actually hoping to start the adn program at cctc in the spring of 09 also. I just finished all my prereqs there this summer and applied last month. Im about to go crazy waiting to see if im going to be accepted! I hope to find out within the next two weeks or so. Im very worried. I guess if I don't make it this time, I'll re-apply in March. My overall gpa is 3.4, but I was very upset to find out that my program gpa(which is what they use) is only a 2.96:crying2: I did do pretty good on the teas though so Im hoping and praying for the best! Good luck to you!
