As of this past Monday, April 13, I have been accepted to Capital Community College's nursing program in Hartford, CT for Fall 2009!!! I cried, shook, and hyperventilated...all at the same time! I can't wait til Fall!! Congrats to all who have made it in as well. Future RN to be--Christine:dancgrp:I just thought this was a hysterical icon!! LOL

I was inducted into Phi Theta Kappa Alpha Iota Alpha Chapter this past December. I am not in nursing school as of yet, but am waiting to hear if I have been accepted over the coming weeks. The GPA cutoff is 3.5, and they also give you one semester for reprieve (if you fall below the GPA requirement for one semester, you can still remain a member). Our advisor is always emailing the members with new and pertinent scholarship information, to which I have recently applied and am waiting to hear feedback. I am guessing that most nursing students wouldnt qualify, because most have a 73 or so grade requirement, not nearly close to the 3.5 cutoff. futureflrn--I took Microbiology last summer over 8 weeks while working 40 hours a week. It was doable, however, you will have ABSOLUTELY no other time because all of your time must be spent studying:twocents:. I took A&P I last semester (16 weeks) and I cannot imagine cramming all of that information into only 6 weeks. I am currently enrolled in A&P II and I feel equally the same about that. They are both very demanding courses, and, depending on which allied health field you want to get into (I'm guessing nursing, or you probably wouldnt be on this forum:rolleyes:) you will need to have the BEST possible grades, since the schooling is so competitive. How does your husband feel about this? Is it absolutely necessary that you get them both done this summer, because you really should aim towards getting the best possible grade, and still make time for the little ones:redpinkhe Hope this could be of some sort of help to you. A&P II Investigations in Health Careers Survey of Literary Genres

I am psyched at my end of semester grades! I hadn't taken this many courses at once since my first attempt at college failed. I am now ready to apply to nursing school, which they take into consideration your GPA (50% of admission), A&P I grade (25% of admission) and TEAS test (25% of admission). The following are the results: A&P I: A Principles of Sociology: A English 101: A TEAS test 82.4% Overall cumulative GPA for semester and all prior semesters: 4.0!!!! You can't ask for better than that, I can't wait to HOPEFULLY see that giant acceptance envelope in my mailbox come May!!! Cheers to all who survived the Fall '08 semester!:cheers:

Lifespan Development--the last co-requisite for the nursing program so that once I enter the program Fall 2009, I can focus strictly on my nursing :nurse:courses! I apply this December I am excited and nervous both at the same time.

Karma--take a deep breath....ahh that's better. I am also a CNA, and I advise you to complete the RN program at a community college as opposed to an LPN program. At about the same length of time, you can make much more as an RN and work many more places than an LPN:twocents:. As for the TEAS test, I just took mine and scored fairly well:yeah:. At their website, atitesting.com, you can purchase the study guide plus a practice online exam. The test consists of 4 major parts: reading, math, science, and english. Some of the science includes earth science, which was difficult for me, and the math is at about an intermediate algebra level. The reading and english sections weren't too bad. The ATI-TEAS website has a study manual you can purchase, around $30-$40 I cant remember exactly. :twocents:The questions inside are a little harder, I felt than the questions on the actual test. There are really random earth science questions on there that do not pertain to nursing, and that is where I did my poorest. Math and English I think are the most important, and the human body science. Good Luck!

Hello...I just got home from taking the TEAS test and received a score of 82.4%, which is in the top 1/4 of all taking this exam. I currently have a 4.0 GPA, and are doing well in my a&p1 course:yeah:. The nursing program here requires you to have 65% or better, so I well surpassed that, but should I take the test again to see if I can receive a better score? The acceptance criteria is that they base the TEAS test 25%, total GPA 50%, and A&P1 grade 25%. Any advice would be appreciated:confused:...Thanks!

I am a CNA working on a cardiac unit while finishing 1.5 more semesters of pre-requisites. I find it to be quite helpful, and a lot of the nurses are willing to show you a lot of things. I think once accepted into the nursing program, it will help me even more. Good luck to all!

Nothing! My parents have chosen for once to help with the financial burden of purchasing books. After their $100, I am getting $200 from a grant at school, but the out of pocket books I purchased at online...way cheaper than the school and I also can resell at the school.
