For those who hated Chem...did you find it necessary to have before taking Physiology? It's not required at my school but they say you won't do well in Physio without it. I'd rather not take it if it won't affect anything.

Way to make assumptions about a situation you know NOTHING about. For the record, I am the one that is moving to help a family member in crisis and he cares so much about my sister that he insisted on coming along to give financial support and assist with caring for her 2 small kids. And where did I say I was 20? And my education has never been put on hold, as I already have a degree. Thanks for your unnecessary input.

Thanks everyone I'm feeling better. I found an online English and psych class so I am starting to think it will be ok.

I had to withdraw from my classes this semester. My bf and I are moving and it will be too far for me to commute to school AND work. Which means I am putting off the science prereq's for another semester. I know that a semester isn't very long for some people, but I am in my late 20's and feel like this is going to take me forever. I feel like giving up and I haven't even started.

That's what I'm talking about! What if I do ALL this hard work over the next year and then I don't get in because I get one B or something? Around here, it's all gpa and points based, meaning if you don't have all A's and the max points...you don't get in. I'm almost reconsidering this whole nursing thing. With all the stress of trying to get in in the first place, and all the new grads not being able to find jobs in my area...it almost seems like a stupid move to make in this economy.

That list is from 2005. Stuff has changed since then. For example, CSU Long Beach no longer has an Accelerated BSN program.

Be careful because a lot of schools in California don't let you retake classes. They will go by the first grade you received. I've found that attending info sessions at the specific programs is helpful and you can take a list of questions and get them all answered at once.

I recommend sort of the same thing. Chem and Anatomy together one semester and Physio and Micro the next. That's what I will be doing. I don't know why, but I don't like the idea of doing a science and lab in summer. It seems too rushed to me.

I think that's what makes me (I'm sorry) laugh a little bit here. I WISH that the "rude" people I dealt with every day were like that secretary. That would be a dream compared to the general public I interact with for 40 hours a week. And, keep in mind, patients are a part of the general public. I've heard it referred to as being a "glorified waitress" at times, and I know that it's not because you're serving food...it's because people are going to be demanding SO much of you.

Is math key to doing well in Chem? As in, if I'm not a very strong science student but am GREAT at math, is an A feasible?

Good news! I was able to add the Anatomy class!!! So I am back to my original plan of having Anatomy and Chem this fall. I can't wait to start. Hopefully we can be a support for each other in the coming months.

Oh yeah it's totally obvious during presentations who did their part and who didn't.

Ditto...except for 99% of all group work I've ever had, it's with the people who are so excited to have a C. I end up taking over so I can get an A. No one ever has a problem, and if they want to go on and get more C's on their tests while I maintain A's on mine, then I am happy to be a control freak. Even divvying up work has never been successful for me, because they will ask to "take a look" at my work, and then try to copy exactly what I'm doing. I even had someone ask to look at my part of a group essay and the copy and paste parts of my essay into his part. I went to the teacher who basically said that I would be passing and that guy wouldn't so not to worry, but I was still like, "Seriously? You copied and pasted my work and didn't think I would notice?" People crack me up.

I still don't get how she was being rude by saying that you need to go get a stamp. Did she say it in a rude way? Did she yell at you? Did she roll her eyes?

Do you think that chemistry is necessary before Anatomy? I was told that I should take chem first but I already have the anatomy book and kind of want to use it before it gets replaced with a new version.

Honestly, most schools are so different from each other, that you would have to figure out which school you might want to attend after your ADN and find out what their specific classes are.

I guess I'm still not understand where the rudeness comes in. Are you calling her rude for following a policy? A stamp costs money. That would be the same thing as not knowing that a fast food place charges a quarter for refills that are usually free...and then expecting the counter person to pay for your refill. I'm sure we all have things at our own jobs that others don't understand...but I think it's going a little far to say that someone is RUDE for doing something they are told to do. You can be frustrated with the policy, but I still don't see anything she did or said that was RUDE. The employees don't set the rules, but they are expected to follow them.

You didn't know the procedure because you hadn't done it before and no one had told you. She wasn't rude for following her procedure. It seems like two separate issues.

I will be doing the ADN and then RN-BSN or RN-MSN. Reasons: 1) I have EIGHT possible community colleges near me while there are only TWO colleges to get a higher degree (EL-MSN = so competitive...they only take 18 to 36 students for the year). 2) I already have a bachelor's degree, and to go for the BSN will require TWICE as many pre-req's as for the ADN. It will already take me about 2 years to do the ADN pre-req's and I don't want to wait any longer than that. 3) I will get done sooner and be getting experience 4) I don't even KNOW if I want to go on to do anything upper level like management so it will be a good starting place. 5) It's cheaper! I'm going to quit work while going to school and the CC program costs around $4500 while the BSN is total around $15,000 - $18,000. Seeing as how I have monthly expenses of $1300, I can't see taking out just tens of thousands in student loans like that.

I hate complainers too! It's like they could win a million dollars and they would just complain that they have to pay taxes on it.

Good idea since I found out earlier that it will cost me $25 per school to get them sent! Crazy.

Did anyone use AP English test scores to get credit for pre-req's for nursing school? I never took English 100 because I got AP Credit for it (back in 2000) but I'm wondering if all the schools would give me AP credit for that class. I was an English major and I REALLY don't want to retake that class if I don't have to. I've written enough essays, you know?
