Check out the website, www.kponcall.com who knows what they will do. The union is pretty strict and also you have to have an in-person mtg w/you supervisor qomonth. Plus, if anything goes wrong w/your computer on a day you're sched to work, you have to go in to the office, so that is another major problem. Good luck

I'm just an employee, but as far as I know you have to live in So Cal, but check the website to be sure. We have to have an in person mtg w/out supervisors qomonth and that would be difficult if you lived out of state. But, it doesn't hurt to ask. :redpinkhe Good luck

We have a website, www.kponcall.com which tells a lot about our company. Our QA is exceptional. all calls are recorded and some are screen captured for review. Our protocols are constantly being revised to meet the needs of customers and clients. We have a QA supervisor and large OI staff plus the supervisors review calls from their staffs. Most of our RN's work from home, remote and our CSS's work in the office. Having every call recorded provides a lot of security for the nurses and the company.

the positions are 32 and 40 hr weeks, every other weekend, 8 hrs shifts. all three shifts. No weekend only positions. We have a union so we are regulated by the contract but the pay is good and the benefits are exceptional.

I am licensed in CA and triage in OK so I HAVE to have a license there because it's a separate contract. If my HMO pt's call from other areas or even overseas I'm covered by my employer. At one time I was licensed in Texas, Oregon and Wash. Licenses in other states are not hard to get but are expensive and require diff types of CEU's. Your employer should have this info. Mine pays for extra required licenses. Hope this helps:nurse:

KP has two major divisions, Northen and Southern CA. In SOCAL the division is called KPONCALL heaquartered in San Diego. Contact them at HR for San Diego. They have remote positions for RN's only but you have to train onsite. (not sure how long, sev wks at least) Remotes work in several counties in SOCAL but you have to be able to drive in to the office w/in an hr if you have puter or other technical difficultiies or have to attend a class. With traffic it takes me 2 hrs each way on weekdays. Also have a sched supervisor consult q2mos which can be done on weekends. I agree w/betc. A lot of the nurses I work w/are disabled but you do have to SIT for 8 hrs w/3 breaks so it you have a bad back it's not the job for you. However, they can get you a desk that raises your computer up so you can stand up and work. It's a great job for a nurse in a wheelchair. I have MS and have to use a walker so it's perfect for me, plus I like not having to commute. :redbeathe

I work for a large HMO type organzation and they hire for home-based triage positions. It is a 24/7 job so all shifts can be worked. The training is extensive and in-house w/a minimum of 3mos before going "remote" It's the toughest job I've ever had to learn but I love working from home. They train in San Diego only right now.

I work from home doing telephone triage/advice and yes, you are TIED to your computer. I wear a headset that is linked to my computer. Since you have to type as well as assess and give advice you have to be physically in touch w/your computer. The only time you can leave is for your scheduled breaks. All of our conversations are taped and some are 'screen captured" and our supervisors, in the office can see all our activities at any given time. I hope this helps :heartbeat:nurse:
