Describe your 10/10 pain. Piggybacking off of recent pain discussions.
My favorite is when you ask a pt to rate their pain on a scale of 1-10, blah, blah, blah......and your answer is: "not bad"! We need a number people!!!

Outpatient Psych & Medical
I currently am working in an outpatient mental health facility and we are trying to integrate general medical care into our patient's care. We have talked about having a medical office (with a local medical health facility) within our offices so that both medical/mental care can be better coordinated with our clients. For instance we may have a client that is being treated for mental health issues, but also is having uncontrolled HTN issues. Our doctors do not treat the HTN, but refer them to see their PCP, which many times, they do not. Does anyone currently work in an outpatient setting where this is implemented? How is it set up? Any information I can find would be appreciated.

Is there any truth to this?
This is the best answer on this whole post.... "So if someone tells you that 98.6 is a fever for her, you'd be well-advised to listen to her...and to maintain a higher level of suspicion for other indicators of infection (look for left shifts in the diff, for example). Doing otherwise is acting from a position of ignorance."

Once again.....I'm a "nurse".....
Just recently my niece graduated and passed her test to be a Medical Assistant. On FB, my sister said "Oh how nice to have 2 nurses in the family!" I love my niece and I'm very proud of her, but I cringed to the bone to think that all my hard work to become an RN is somehow even close to what she's accomplished. She CAN NOT (and not because she's incapable) do what I do...because she hasn't done the work required to allow her to do it.....I just had to keep my mouth shut, as I knew it would cause all kinds of problems w/in the family if I said anything...but after reading all these posts on defending our name, I would love to know a tactful way to set my family straight....
