That's great to hear, I am redoing micro and I am gald that I am, it was a tough class that I rushed through, now I can grasp all the info and actually understand it vs. memorizing to get a good grade on a test.

I worked weekends and I have a toddler. If you have a pretty open schedule and have great study skills you can do it. But it was not easy at all. you end up choosing which class is more important towards the middle of the quarter when it gets really hard and you study for one over another. thats what messed me up.

To be honest I would not do it. I took anp and micro together so that I could get in sooner, and the plan backfired now I am retaking micro. These class require full on attention and it is not easy. i would just take my time.

I am also finishing/ retating micro this fall. I plan to apply to highline, seattle u, tacoma cc, and bellvue

A person who earns a 3.0 or up in the classes that we are required to take has worked pretty hard for that grade just like you. So I think that it is great that they have a lottery. Your 4.0 still matters, it means that you have learned and mastered the concepts and you will have a great shot in nursing school.

Ok my question is for anyone who got into or recently graduated from a seattle area nursing school, could I get in with a withdrawl from one class and a repeat from another? What school would allow me to enter? What schools wont. Please tell me specific school names so that I can now aim for those school because I want to apply for 2010 school year.

Oh no medical assistant jobs here have nothing to do with your nursing degree, it is a different title and schooling altogether. Look for RN job not medical assistant.

I am in my last quarter of pre reqs and I have classmates that say that the only way to get a "Good" job is to go to UW, but when I speak to working nurses they advise me not to go to the UW, It is expensive but isnt Seattle U the same if not more expensive than the U. Im going to a community college, when I see that the proof that a BSN is truly needed I will shell out the money and get it.

Hi, I had an emergency C-SEction as well and it took me about 6 days to walk without meds and after two weeks I was completley fine. I was also 18 years old, so it really depends on the person and how fast you heal. Just wanted you to know that it is possible.

I have a friend in my ANP2 class that was like num 7 or something on UWs waiting list and she got in for this fall. Is this you Twinkle Toes?? lol I know that sounds weird.

Just curious do you all plan to pay for the years or do the program in which you sign a contract to work at the two local teaching hospitals and have your tuition paid. Is this program easy to get into. I want to apply in jan for next fall but I worried about the cost.

Hi, so there are a few in my opinion that are easier to get in. Seattle central cc has a minimum GPA that you have to meet on six pre reqs and then you can apply and it is first come first serve for those that qualify. Tacoma community colleg has a lottery system so that may help your chances. People say that shorline is hard to get into because they have a points system but for me this is helpful because if you have all the points you should get inand you can work at earning all the points with experience, grades and other factors. There are some schools that have a deadline for how old you pre reqs are. If I were you I would just call around and ask the schools themselves.

Wow, thanks so much for your input. I couldn't imaging going through school when my daughter was 8 mnths, kudos to you. I feel like the job market has really changed these couple years and I want the best shot at the job that is right for me so the BSN is probably what I should do. Us 2010 and 2011 new grads might not have the same success getting a job with an adn as you did due to the economy and influx of new nurses. Thanks so much..

Thank you two sooo much. Twinkletoes you are 100% right about getting the BSN if I have the chance to. I want to go to UW and I should at least try and see if I get accepted before settling for the ADN. Either way I will still be an RN and I will just do the RN-BSN route if I don't get into SU or UW. Thanks that really helped.

Okay so before I begin... A little about me. I am 20 years old, I am married with a 2 year old, have one more quarter of pre reqs left and one quarter of CNA. So hopefully trying to get in fall 2010. The question is: what school should I focus on getting into? I plan to apply to almost all in my area (seattle) but they all have different requirements so I plan to work my butt of to aim to get into a certain program which is UW. But then I worry that the UW program might be too intense for me because of the fact that I have a small child.I work weekends and finacially okay to quit and go to school. I do plan to continue education if I go to say, BCC,HCC,LWTC, etc so should I just do it now and go to UW. I have worked toward being an RN for two 1/2 years now and I feel ready I just want to hear from working grads or recent grads how critical a BSN really is when it comes to being hired at a hospital.

hey don't say that now everyone will read your post and start to apply there lol. I plan to apply for the 09 winter quarter or whenever I finish my CNA work and volunteer work. I plan to get all the points possible :)

I have heard from a few nurse friends of mine that if a hospital sees that you went to SCCC they will not hire you because the program is not looked at as a desirable school when it comes to hiring. I have heard that nurses that grad from their work at nursing homes due to this... I am not 100 percent sure that this is true, but first come first serve does not sound like a competitive program.

I am not a nurse yet but i used to live in University Place, I love it, personally it is the only good place in tacoma because most other areas of Tacoma are dangerous and run down but UP is a sweet suburban area with lots of little eateries. Hope this helps. The ren in Up a year ago was about 950 average for a two bed two bath but Im sure it has gone up since then.

Wow, what was your pre nursing GPA and how many points did you have? Did you do the CNA 159 hours or any other experience?

Hey, I am finishing up my pre reqs right now and I have heard that Shoreline is the best, Bellevue is second and that LWTC is ne of the best as well. Now this is only word of mouth, I have heard that Seattle Central is not as great as the others, but you never know because people always have different experiences at different schools. I hope this helps. My first is Shoreline for two reasons, they accept new students 3 times a year so I don't have to weight untill fall and I have heard that their graduates are comparable to UW nursing graduates.

hello, I am a pre-nursing students and the majority of ppl I know that have worked at their jobs 15+ years make about 50-70k yearly. So in my opinion making around those numbers my first year out of school with my ADN is awesome. And I will be greatful to make that much money despite the hard work that comes along with it. also in my area that is what new nurses make....

This fall I will be taking A&P 1, Chem, and nutrition because i have heard nutrition is easy it helps to even out the load.
