Hi all Just wanting to know what the average take home pay a month after tax for a year 9 RN after tax please in BC please? And do all nurses get paid monthly??
  2. Aussie/NZ RN here trying figure out which would be the easiest province in Canada to apply for my NNAS. I have heard that BC makes it really hard at times and some have said ON was easier. Is it easy to swap provinces once initial registration comes through?
  3. Just sent you a PM. Do I need all these certs before working rural or remote?
  4. Hi all I am an ER nurse in australia currently working in a remote part of australia. I am thinking of places that are great for families with young kids in terms of housing, education and affordability. I am not a city person but would not want to be in a completely remote place either. I would love to have access to the beaches and mountains and not be landlocked. I am in the process of getting my certification started with NNAS but trying to decide between BC or Alberta. My husband currently works as a truck driver in the mines and it would have to cater to him as well. I am open to any advice. I have googled the hell out of these 2 places but would love to hear first hand experiences from other international nurses who have moved to either of these places. ? Also, how much time are we given to do our NCLEX once we have been approved by NNAS? Thanks guys

  10. Hi all i am a remote nurse working in an aboriginal community in Australia and would like more info in working as a RN in Canada. 11. Hi thanks for the reply No this course is being run by ED in RMH and all staff are required at some stage to pursue it. I was told they had two interviews one for ED employment and if you wanted to do the grad cert you would have to do another interview. Sounds bizarre to me but im guessing they will throwing clinical scenarios my way.
  12. Hi has anyone done the Grad Cert in Clinical Practice course via ACU? Seems like a good course but im not too sure about it...it would be great if anyone can give me any info apart from the one on ACU's website. Also i have already done an interview but now they want me to do another interview just for the grad cert...what do they normally ask in those grad cert interviews? Are they pretty similar to the main job interview?
  13. Hi all was wondering if in Melbourne nurses do a nursing portfolio every so often say two years which in return gives you an award ie payrise?? In new Zealand, we do something called the PDRP program ( Professional Development and Recognition Programme) where a newgrad nurse does a competent level which includes a compilation of all assessments, evaluations, study days attended and an appraisal which gives you a payrise of about 2000 dollars. After that a nurse with mOre than a years experience can proceed on to do the Proficient level which is the same compilation but might include certifications and preceptorship and doing that gives you a payrise of 3000 dollars. And then you have a final level which is the expert level where u get 4000. I am moving to melbourne next year and am in the midst of completing my proficient level but I was wondering if it's going to be of any use in Melbourne meaning if that would contribute to a payrise in addition to you base salary???
  14. hi Carol that would be great! im more interested in rural rather than remote would be great to hear your stories

Also can anyone recommend any good and reliable agencies i could go with as there seem to be hundreds of them popping up everywhere. Any info would be appreciated.

  18. Hi K+MgSO4 Thank you so much for the info..may i know where on the rmh's website did you get that info from? Ive search on ED's page but i see that ED does not have their own personal website like ICU does. Also whereabouts can i get info about ED's LOS statistics and any media releases? Thank you

  21. Hi could anyone give me a list of what each level that is used in Australia mean? For example: what is a grade 1 nurse division 1 nurse equivalent to as I am a nurse in NZ and we only have level 1-5. Level 1 being new grads rns.
  22. hi i got the same question for my interview. In NZ they are big on delegation and team work. So your answer would be telling them you would delegate your other patients out to other members of your team and attend to your pt. You must also mention that you will communicate with your team members re the other patients and make sure you thank them for all the help they have done.
  23. Hi everyone i am new here and i have just got a burning question to ask anyone out there. I am a nursing student almost in my 3rd year. My question is how do i find out more about career pathways? I would like to get into the management role but how do i do so? I know i should get at least a few years of experience in general nursing but i would really like to know what courses i should be doing and how do i become a nurse manager in NZ. I already possess a degree in science from another uni in nz and now i am doing my nursing degree. I would love replies from anyone who can guide me. Another question i have is if i wanted to do postgrad studies in pharmacology what sort of nurse could i become? Appreciate any information. Cheers
