  1. Thank you sooo much for this message! It has inspired me whilst I am feeling really stuck. I have visascreen now, am desperate to get hired and start the process of greencard sponsorship. But I haven't heard back from any hospital in Texas or Florida! Do you have any recommendations for which hospitals I could apply to in Texas? (Or Florida) Thank you again, your message has given me more hope :-) Helena
  2. Hey all - I am in the same position - CGFNS need to 'verify that I have passed NCLEX' I can't see any form anywhere to send to Texas BON so they can verify to CGFNS that I have passed and hold a RN license?? Thanks all Helena
  3. Hey all I am in the same position Passed NCLEX two months ago and now I don't know what to do sign up to an agency or direct hire I would rather direct hire but I don't think many employers have the facilities to take an international candidate through the immigration process? Does anyone know of hospitals in southern states which do direct hire? Thank you
  4. Hey all I passed NCLEX in August 2017 and have a Texas BON license. Visascreen is still pending. I have been offered a contract to sign with Passport USA, but am worried that they could send me anywhere, including cold places! I would much rather be directly hired to avoid agency taking cuts of my wages. It would also guarantee that I'd end up in a southern state. My dream is Florida but I am flexible to an extent (just don't want cold weather). Does anyone have suggestions on any particular hospitals which are directly hiring international RNs? Florida, Texas, Arizona, New Mexico, etc... Thank you so much, and any suggestions are very welcome. Appreciate you reading this!
  5. Ok that is quite an aggresive read - signing out of this convo as I have been shut down All the best to you all
  6. Hello everyone I am in the exact same position Lou and LClaire I am working in an Emergency Assessment Unit in England, and have just paid CGFNS the money to check my uni credentials. Currently the form is with my uni and they need to send the CGFNS my transcripts.. quite nervous of the hours issue - will keep you guys updated :-) I have also paid the money to NMC to get them to verify my pin to the CGFNS. I am also applying to Texas BON as you don't need SS number. My agent is also not charging a thing and has spent hours chatting to me on phone/email about the process. Trying to revise for NCLEX also! My agent reckons about a year and I should be in the USA... I am anticipating doubt and skepticism on this site, however I am remaining positive and putting my faith in my efforts and in the system.. I too see adverts all the time in the back on RCN journal and Nursing Times; anyone who says there aren't vacancies is misguided because some hospitals clearly do want UK nurses. Remain positive Lou and Claire, we will get there! Helena
  7. Oh thanks I see, what 15 new subjects started by me?? Or just 15 comments? Thanks
  8. Hey, oh I'm glad you had a good experience with Texas BON, how long did it take to get your license? Was your Brazilian education adequate for them? I ask because I am adult trained without any real paeds and obstetrics... Not sure what your training is like? Sure email me on [email protected] and I will share the contact (feels a bit rude posting someone else's email address on a public site) but he is actually an agent in London for UK nurses so I'm not sure he is the right person for you anyway.. Out of interest why was the fingerprinting particularly a nightmare? And you definitely 100% didn't need a SSN for Texas? Thanks and nice talking to you x
  9. Just an update for anyone following this or who is helping me, I have decided I think the way forward is to apply to Texas BON because they don't require a SSN and a helpful agent has assured me that there's more likelihood of a job/sponsor there (rather than Florida) So Florida is on hold for a few years until I get across, get my green card and do some time in Texas (assume I will be contracted to an employer for a few years if they make the effort to sponsor me!!) I understand that timings change with retrogression etc... I can only hope things go smoothly and Texas accepts me so that I can start looking for a job.. Thanks again everyone
  10. Hello, I've decided to apply to the Texas BON as they don't require a SSN, and I've been speaking to an agent who thinks there's a good chance of a job there.. How was your experience with Texas licensure if I can ask? Thanks x
  11. Sorry maybe I didn't make myself clear :-) I mean is the ECG/EKG test a normal part of applying to Florida/USA hospital applications? When you apply to a hospital or any other job? Thanks x
  12. Glad you enjoy Georgia :-) my priority is getting to USA and having a nice life in Florida really - the pay is just a bonus - and compare to England the wages even in Florida are amazing (21,000 pounds in UK starting wage) x
  13. Hey guys - is this exam mandatory when applying for positions in most US hospitals? It's not something I've heard of. I'm in A&E at the moment so quite a lot of ECG reading practice although never been tested on it in England
  14. Excellent about the 3 months - thanks for looking that up, however I am not in a position to apply yet, no NCLEX etc yet - I hope timescales don't drastically change in the next 6 months/year or so.. although it seems unpredictable? Yes indeed regarding the specific talent that I have to offer instead of a lovely American nurse - I can't say that I have!!! Maybe it really is worth me going to Georgia BON - in that case would I actually need to work in Georgia for a while before endorsing to Florida? Or just immediately try and endorse once Georgia approves? Thank you all again for taking an interest in helping me
  15. Oh what brilliant news that there's ways around this all, so you mean EB3 doesn't require a license first? I will do more research on this over the weekend when I'm not working I don't want any of you to think I'm asking too many questions and being lazy! I actually spend hours daily researching all of this licensure and immigration and its gradually becoming clearer with your help. To to cut it down, I can get a green card without a job and license? Just based on being an overseas nurse? Or get the 30 day Florida permit, and immediately fly to America and get a SSN that month? Sorry I'll properly research this Saturday. Glad you enjoy Canada! :-)
