  1. Can you tell me which site you bought your flash cards from? I am going to sign up to take this test. Thank you
  2. If you are around the Waco area, I can give you the contact person at Hillcrest. I am still waiting to do my psych clinicals! I have been waiting about a year! I only have 6 leadership clinicals to go.
  3. I was told by the school that DePaul would not return their calls so Im kind of in a jam. Hopefully something can be worked out!
  4. I know how you feel! I have had the same problem! I'm in central texas too, I did those clinicals at Hillcrest. Where did you do your fundamental clinicals at?
  5. What course did u just sign up for? Where are you doing your clinicals at?
  6. Hey, Im currently in the program. Where did you do your psych clinicals in central texas? Im in the central texas area and they have been unsuccessful in setting up my psych clinicals!
  7. Is there anyone else currently doing the TAMUCC eline BSN program? Im fourth year and wondering who else is doing the program.
  8. A&M in Corpus Christi has an online RN with BSN program. All of your classes are online and you do clinicals at a clinical site that they have closest to you. Unfortunally, they do not give credit for already being an LVN, but the payoff of it being online makes it worth it.
  9. Mclennan community college in Waco has an online math statistics class that I just finished taken. I loved the teacher. You could redo the homework problems as many times needed to make an 100 on the assignments. The test problems are very similar to the homework. You do not have to buy a book, only access to the website (around 45.00??) You do have to go to campus to take the final, which she gave you 10 extra points for doing the review homework. Best wishes!
  10. It never hurts to try and negotiate. When I was a new grad, I went to the different hospitals and checked around. I got the hospital I wanted to work at to pay me $2.00 more an hour by negotiating. You also may want to check into diabetic homehealth for a side job. Most places (at least around here) pay by the visit and it adds up quickly.) Best of luck!
  11. I am interested in seeing how these classes are. I heard the first semester is the worst.
  12. Im not sure yet, I bet I will have to go to college station (about 1 1/2 hr drive). Thats ok, it will be worth it.
  13. Do you like the traveling agency you work for? Does your friend work for the same company?
  14. I was wondering who all got accepted or is in the TAMUCC eline program this semester. It is nice to have someone to talk and ask questions about the program. I start Jan. 10th, YEAH.
  15. in which city in texas do they have a site??
  16. I am taking Math statistics and chemistry, yuck. I am still wondering how I am going to make it this semester. I work full time at my job, have a second job I work every other weekend. I am also married with 3 kids. I may have to cut back on my work hours.
  17. Wow, do yall have patient ratios? Texas still has LVNs and Nurse aids working in the hospital. With the nursing shortage, I dont think they have much choice.
  18. First of all, YOU are not responsible for anything that I do. Every Rn I worked with had no problem with my nursing capabilities, so there is no reason for you to be scared. I have had a Dr personally request to my RN supervisor that I labor his L&D patients when I am on duty. RN is 1 more yr of training yes, But you do not learn everything while you are in school. So much of nursing is learned by hands on experience. I am going to school to get my bachlors in nursing. I am glad that I took the route I took. I was a nurse aid while in LVN school. Being an aid really made me appreciate my nurse aids when I worked at a hospital. Being an LVN while getting my RN degree will give me the same prospective.
  19. All the LVNS were allowed to push pain meds and certain other kinds of meds. Every state is different on their rules about what LVNs can and cannot do.
  20. Sorry, my previous post didnt include the quote from another post. LVN (finishing last 2 pre-reqs for bachlor RN program) I work for a pediatric home health agency during the week. Every other weekend I do diabetic home health cases. Pay: $18.50 hr for pedi home health. $22.00 per case for diabetic home health. Years as nurse: 2 Hours I work: 28 to 40 hrs during the week. I love my two jobs. I plan on keeping in this area after I get my RN license. I have enjoyed reading everyones responses about how much they make and what field of nursing they are in.
  21. What an LVN is allowed to do really depends on where they work. At the hospital I worked at I was doing IV pushes from day one (even as a GVN). I also worked Labor and delivery (started in this area as a GVN also), ER, and ICU. When I read your post about LVN's, I get the impression that you think LVN's are incapable of performing their jobs without constant supervision. There are good LVN's and RN's and there is bad LVN's and RN's. Nursing is a hands on training, which you learn from other nurses. Just my 5 cents.
  22. providence offers an school assistance with a 1 or 2 yr commitment. So does the VA hospital.
  23. Has anyone recently finished to Tamucc Nursing 4322 health alterations class? I am looking to buy the book Pathophysiology: concepts of altered health states, 7th edition. Philadelphia: Lippincott. Thanks!
  24. I worked small town hospital and the night shift got stiffed. I have to admit some nights we only had 4 patients but it seemed the biggest majority of the time we had 8 to 14 patients. All of us nurses got together and decided that it was to the point that it was unsafe. One of the nurses went to the head of the floor nursing mananger (who didnt work nights) and complained. The director of med surg said and I quote "Here is my shoulder cause that is all I have to offer". I felt bad for our charge nurses at night because I know they felt bad for us. We would always get the "all the patients sleep at night so we dont see what the big deal is" excuse. One bad nursing manager can really leave a sour taste in your mouth.
