LPN starting pay $26.50!
Hey Ms.RN, I am actually in the process of trying to move to MI in the next couple months and am LPN in OH. The market is tough and pay rate is low here. Have endorsement to MI already. I do peds homecare now for $15.25/hr. Any suggestions or ideas of places to apply that have higher kinds of pay rates as referenced in this thread? I have been applying to a few places, but I could use some insight from one who knows about the area and market. I will be in southeast MI, Oakland or Wayne co. Thanks for any help or input you may have.

Where's the Job?!
I completely concur. I graduated last June (a year ago already!) and still have not found my first job in nursing. My location is in central Ohio. The same kind of scenario.....everyone wants you to have at least a year of experience, don't apply if you don't, etc. I graduated in the top of my class and can't even get interviews. Have worked with a job coach, gotten professional resume help, can't seem to crack the code, whatever it may be. My frustration is turning into lost hope and thinking that all the time, effort, money, putting life on hold for school, etc., was for nil.

New Grad 1 yr ago....no job yet
I graduated from LPN school 1 year ago in June; my state (Ohio) takes a very long time in the licensure process, so didn't sit for boards until end of October and passed first time. I have been applying for jobs ever since; am even working with a company to help find jobs. Every place wants you to have experience. How can I get the experience?? Also, where I live, (C-bus), the hospitals will not hire LPNs. I loved learning while in nursing school and want to work, but I can't even get a call to be interviewed. What does anyone else do if they don't have experience?? I feel like I am losing all my skills and forgetting important information and possibly made a mistake in choosing this training. How can I get additional certifications, i.e. vent, to make myself more marketable?

STOP - Don't buy your textbooks from the school bookstore
That's great if it works for you. We were told that we were not allowed to purchase our own books elsewhere. It was a package deal; when I went in to talk to financial aid, I already had located the books online, but was told it wasn't allowed!

Should I be a CNA -- I'm 44yrs old!!! Is it too late for me?
I started LPN school last year and graduated this past June with 3.54 GPA and no prior college. I will be 55 in 4 days. Currently waiting for my ATT to take boards. I went with LPN program so I could start working sooner; would love to get the extra letters after my name. We'll see. You can do it!

Question for those that passed the NCLEX and used Kaplan....
Has anyone used the NCLEX PN 3000 software for review?
