College Math vs. College Algebra
I had this same problem. I went straight to College Algebra got an A . But, ASU requires you to have College Math:confused:. So i had to back track to College Math. Which is a lower math. Apparently, you need College Math to go into ASU. I'm assuming this is why she advised you to take this course. Funny right? Math 140-142 will allow you to get a BSN but anything higher MAT 150-152 (College Algebra) will not. They stop taking College Algebra about two years ago. Would College Math satisfy the ‘College Algebra’ requirement of most bachelors programs. The answer is no, I have a degree in Supply Chain, required College Algebra.

GCU Fast Track BSN program - what to expect?
I was talking about two boards. The military board (NECP) meets in May 2010 and the GCU board around the sametime. I will miss both boards. I won't be back from IRAQ until Oct 10. The military won't take spring apps. So I have to wait a whole year. Are you taking patho with GCU? if so how is the work load?

Becoming a Nurse in the Air Force
I'm so glad that there is a thread for the NECP program. I was going to apply for May 2010. However, i got tasked with a deployment and won't be back until Oct 2010. The classes start in Aug:crying2:. I've completed my package and was ready to turn in all of my transcript for evaluation. I'm going to be on the next board (2011) i was scared because they don't take spring applicant. I work for 1 1/2 years on everthing and now i can't go. GOOD luck my fellow airmen. Oh!! i also wanted to add that i have a friend who made it last board, He was 38. They like older people because they know you will do your time. Most young people, get out after their commitment and go civilian. People with 10 years+ will retire.

GCU Fast Track BSN program - what to expect?
Hello CateJohnson, I hear you on the GPA, can you retake some of your classes to boost your GPA? I went back and every class i got a C on i redid them. You can only repeat two classes. I heard that the Fast Track was highly competitive as well but might have a chance because the economy ( people don't have the money to pay for the school) It all depends on who applies. Plus alot of program has changed. They got rid of the military discount:down:. I tried to get into Patho and Nur 207? and it was over 4500. I was shock. I wanted to use my top up and TA but, i don't want to use my MGIB. Any Hoot, i have a GPA of 3.2. I had to apply for 2nd degree program. Which was a different type of program for people who have already recieved a degree. You would be surprise how many military people go to the nursing school there. I can name about 5 people. I stay in touch with them thru their journey.

Anyone taken FON241 human nutrition with the lab at Rio
To be honest, I hated that class. If i were to take it over again it would be with another school. The test were so hard. I barely made it. I got pretty good grades in A&P , Micro, Patho, and Chem:eek:. This was my lowest grade overall. I didn't do well on the Mid :sniff:so i wanted to drop. But, after the mid i couldn't. I finished it up but, i was so sad after wards:o. If you look into the threads, another girl got a 92 on her mid or final. Just study word for word, and apply it. I wouldn't recommned this class to my worst enemy. But, some people do better than others. At first i took it lightly, but after the midterm, i focuse only on that class still didn't do as well:crying2:. I duno!!

You have every right to be worried . I don't think there is anything that can prepare you for the Midterm. Study the chapters and the end review, have some understanding about each essay, she will ask you essay that she might have asked you in turn in for homework . The questions on the quiz are just as hard as the test. I barely made it with a C. I really thought it was going to be easy. i was sitting at a 92 until i took the midterm. I fell all the way down to a 77. I pass the class learned a lot but, the midterm and final hurt me bad. Remember you would need to get a 60% on the midterm and the final, to pass the class. regardless if you did good on the home work and quiz. If i can help please let me know.

Min for Admission: 4.0 GPA's + 99%ile TEAS Score
I think that's sooooooooo true. I'm taking my classes online while i'm deployed to Iraq. I got a B in my sciences class. I thought i was doing good. But, i need to repeat the class. because i'm competing with some students who have all day to do nothing but study. May i add that i have a friend who kept a 4.0 all through nursing school, and can't pass the BOARD TEST.

How to prepare for CHM and BIO class? haven't been to school in years
"I spent a ridiculous amount of money on extra books, flash cards, and a coloring book for this class and didn't use any of them. Between the textbook and the internet, I had all the info I needed. There is a bit of chemistry in this class, but if you are taking them at the same time, you should be good". I did the same thing. I bought all of extra stuff, coloring books, A&P for dummies, Tiny Tim and clay for bones and muscle. I only used the book and the internet. I got a B in A&P, I was so happy:yeah:. I know some people get A's but, i was happy with my grade, you hear me. i went to the club I also, got a B chem and a A in Lab. Surf the net, it has plenty of test questions to study, work guides, and the book site too. I think that i have plenty of sites on A&P I but, chem i don't. The biggest thing in Chem is the formulas to convert ( mL to meter). It was hard but, only because i didn't have a background on Chem other than College Algebra.

Anyone taken FON241 human nutrition with the lab at Rio
I'm taking it right now, without the lab. It's not required for my degree plan. I like it. it's slow(16 week, i think?) but, i'm learning alot. I'm going to be taking my final , in Fon 241, during micro and A&P II. Did you have any questions? i haven't taken any exam's yet. There tons of essays, quiz, and case studies. I totally find the information useful for nursing school.

FAINTING...what made you drop?
I’ve watch six amputations. A man accidentally shot himself in the stomached, cleaning his weapon and the bullet exited out of his behind. They couldn’t close his wounds because it was leaking so, they left it open, with no pain meds. I fainted when I saw a three year old child burnt victim get scrub down. He couldn’t scream because his vocal cords were damage during the fire. All I could hear was gargling and smell burnt flesh. I felt so helpless. I can handle adult but, children? I just can’t. All of this was during my time in Iraq. I knew then that I wanted to be a nurse. It’s different when you’re saving a life. I know I can’t bring my pt to 100% but, I will give them knowledge and will power too.

Rio Salado pre-Nursing classes
"Psy 240 was a joke. Maybe 30 minuted of work per week, got a 98% overall in the class, didn't learn much at all either. It was too easy to figure out how to ace the quizzes without reading." LG 1137 I was thinking about taking the course with rio too. I'm currently Fon 241. I though it would be to much work. So, it's not that diffcult? Can you send me a PM. I have some question to ask.
-
how long did it take you, to finish up all pre-req?
It has taken me 2 years. I will be finished in spring 2010. I still have Micro and patho. This fall is A&P II, spring Patho, and i'm going to take Micro in the summer. All the nonscience course i did online.

Net test
How did you get at 100%? I would like to know how you studied. I'm in the process of review and I don't know what to look for. Can you send me a PM?

This is odd because i thought you had to be commissioned by age 42 (non-wavied and that's if your active duty. There is a shortaged in nursing for AF but, i think you should talk with a health care recruiter.- Becoming a Nurse in the Air Force
Hello, I've been in the AF 12 years and i do have a BS in Supply Chain Mang. I guess i just wanted to give you a good website to look at. It's the NECP program, that the Captain was typing about. I'm currently getting all my pre nursing courses done so that i can join the program. If you don't have your pre nursing classes done, start now . http://usmilitary.about.com/od/airforcetrng/a/necp.htm so, you can be ready for the program. Chose a school that you want to go too and then find out what their requirements are or wait till you get to your first duty station. They (AF) will send you were you want to go to school but, you must do the foot work to get into the school program. The Air Force will fund the rest. Check it out!!!!- Chamberlain June Orientation
She got in for July. She is so happy.- Freaking out about BIO201...Please Help!
I was told that the summer class for BIO are for student who didn't suceed well in the spring or fall. They have some concept of material but, didn't do well. My professor said the most people rob their self from information that is vital to the nursing program. Even thought i'm compress with time, i only take my bio classes durning regular semesters. I know that all of this ties into my BSN. Everything else, i take online or accelerated. The choice is yours. I would hate to see someone who get A's and don't know the A&P of a connective tissue or simple columnar. But to each it's own. If you look through the thread, there are A's nursing student's who couldn't even past the Nclex because they memorized everything and rush everything. You have to learn and apply this material. GOOD LUCK- Chamberlain June Orientation
I know a friend of mine applied but, she hasn't gotten any word yet. Have they done all of the selections yet?- Necep hopeful need help
Can some please help me? I've been in the military for about 12 years enlistment supply troop. I've been deployed 3 times. My last deployment, i did some volunteer work with the balad hosptial. I loved every moment of it:redbeathe. I would work 12 hrs doing my work and be at the hosptial for additional 4 hours, every day. I was able to work with some good nurses and doctors . I knew with out a doubt that i wanted to be a nurse. i've been on a mission every since. The problem is, i don't have a good network any more to get into the NECEP program . I'm doing well with school pre nursing. but, i found out that i'm deploying again this fall. This will push me back a year. I really hope i get Balad so, i can do some more volunteer. I really want to be a nurse. I don't care about bonuses or getting commission. I just want to be a nurse, not just a nurse but, a Nurse in Air Force. Military Science is awesome because there is no limit ( insurance problems). PLEASE ADVICES - Air Force Age Waivers
