  1. We are taught as nurses to allow privacy for pts...what ever they want to do. I have no problem as long as I can do what I need to do. She needs to get over it. We have to look at people as just that, we all have our needs. Who are we to judge.
  2. You have to pee...again?
  3. Our hospital is celebrating Healthcare system week. ??? Today we are to have our kids draw pictures the end of the week is celebrated with a pet parade. Oy vey!
  4. I agree with the wine. My husband never understood, now he's an RN and has taken up a glass of wine after work. I also picture jumping into a swimming pool and sit on the bottom of the pool while I'm at work...my little escape.
  5. I can so relate. I hate everyday I walk off the floor. I get a lump in my throat and a tear in my eye. I'm so sure I could have done it better if my hands weren't tied behind my back and had just a bit of help from the CNA's. Our CNA's do NOT do vitals, HS care. Their duties are to put the RN and CNA's name on the white board, weights(that always seem to be exactly the same as last nights wgt) pass linen for days and the I&Os. If you should happen to need help while they are adding up that cup of coffee and sip of water (that is old and I gave it to the pt last night before I went home) the pt took in, I get the evil eyes with sound effects. It's not worth it. I use to think the CNA were the hardest working, then it was as if one day they were told it didn't matter. I've been in nursing since '81, to tired of this. The past 2 wks the Dr are having temper tantrums, families are upset and the pt are upset because we have Pepsi products and not coke. I miss the day the day when you walked into a room and told the pt you WILL turn, cough and deep breath and we Will walk. Your going to get better and get out of here. No pneumonia, no skin breakdown. There is so much we could do if they just untied our hands.
  6. Boy can I relate. I am orienting for PCU and was told I would train in ICU for several months. After my first month I was sent to PCU without a preceptor, it's hit and miss who I'll be with. I did two weeks on days and they said I was ready for nights. My first noc shift was with a traveler...which was her first noc. So here we are trying to figure out what our responsiblities are. There isn't any regular staff, 3 new grads, one new employee and our travel nurse. It's so frustrating. Then on top of that if our sensus is 3 or less we don't get any help, it's just one RN. We are in no mans land, so support, if needed, there isn't any close by. I'm hoping as I become more confident I won't feel this way. I am so ready to quit. There isn't any critical care training, just get out there and care for the patients. I have no problem doing patient care, I've been an LPN for 27 years. Teach me the Rn stuff, the critical care stuff. Show me where to find phone numbers...which one nurse on days hides the list because they are her number lists. YIKES!
  7. Congrats all! I found out yesterday there is a life outside of school and studying. It's amazing, I forgot about life.
  8. Congrats!! Feels GREAT, doesn't it?!?
  9. I paid the $$$$ to know and then found out a few hours later it was on the wyoming bon site. On top of that I got the hard copy in the mail, 5 hours after I paid the money. I thought for sure it would be 4-6 weeks before I would see it. The NCLEX is amazing, I can't believe that's what determines our career! You did good
  10. I tested on Wednesday, paid for the results this morning to find out I passed. I just went and got the mail and the hard copy is sitting in my mailbox. I can't believe it, I'm totally official. FYI-I did study until 2200 the night before, I felt I needed to. I'm not sure if studying hard is the answer. Nursing tests are weird.
  11. I passed!:yeah:
  12. On Wednesday, when I took the NCLEX-RN my horoscope said "Prosperity is just around th corner, if it is not here already. All your efforts are about to pay off and pay off in a big way." I just thought how appropriate for testing day. I won't know until tomorrow how accurate it is...but I hope it is right on!
  13. So is it 48 hours from when you take the test? I took mine at 0800 yesterday and can't stand the wait. I keep trying to think positive, but the pessimistict bug keep over taking my brain. Don't know if I can make it. I really feel sorry for my husband having to put up with me, poor guy!
