Peri care steps for ambulatory female using toilet
easy way to remember...yellow to brown and always double check, plus can't hurt to take a few minutes to check their skin. I always tell the patient with a smile that I'm just gonna help out a bit, then i tell them it's a bit cold, and I always touch the wipe to the bum cheek first so they know the temp of the wipe before i just "sweep" . cleanliness is a good thing

RN Shift Report Sheets - New Grad
I am a tele RN and use the attached report. I used the basic same report for when I did Ortho Neuro, except had a few different labs on there. I, personally, carry a clip board and like to use an entire sheet of paper for each patient. I put their "sticker" in the top left corner...which supplies me with date of admit, date of birth, name and hospital number so that I can verify each time I pass meds. If you go down the line on the sheet it should cover everything which is needed when giving report. feel free to copy it. I also have posted one on my blog where I often write about nursing experiences and stuff in general ...here's where the report is. Click the picture then you should be able to print it. 2 smart girls 1 fab blog Good luck!

TOOK NCLEX TODAY!
Oh my goodness...I took mine today. I felt ok about it going in. I am a good student. I study...I studied...I felt semi prepared to at LEAST be able to discern between right and wrong answers. I was SOOOO wrong. I got in at 8 am...stressed out at about question 55....I had so many SATA and a ton of "who would you assess first?" I went right past question 75 then thought I might as well crawl under the desk and scream. The things I knew so well when studying...they were gone, straight out of my skull, seriously. I actually had the drug ******** come up and I couldn't remember what the heck it was for!!!! I had an absolute breakdown. I will tell you I had NO MATH problems!!!!. I had quite a bit of emergency triage? Yikes...and a bit of mental health. I had about 6 community based questions and then you know what killed me? I had about 17 questions on "precautions" OMG!!!! I had a total of 233 questions!!!! So, I then did the PVT and it told me I couldn't register again so maybe i passed? I just don't know.

nursing students and behavioral health units
I am doing my Psych clinicals as I write, I'm on a break...I just asked my RN a questions and she said she didn't have time to "deal with a student" I am an RN student hoping to go into the Behavioral Health field. I am so irritated right now. I am here to learn, help, interact...i would love to chart, watch charting, pass a med or 2? but I got nothing. I have less than a week here and she won't help me with anything. it's a true bummer. v8grrl

Nclex pn 1/7/08
So, just like everyone else I feel miserable. I am a great critical thinker, quick on my feet, a problem solver and not good at memorization. My test shut off at 85 and at 70 I was thinking, "well, maybe I will get 30 more questions and I can pull this off" No luck, whammo, shut down at 85...i didn't cry, I didn't think anything except how did I get through everything no knowing this stuff? I studied the Pearson online tests we got, Lippnecott, and others. I was averaging 78% My test was mental health (which we didn't study a lot of in LPN), Mom baby, and drugs....I had about 5 SATA...which I never get right and a ton of "what would you do first" and "who gets the private room". I'm bummed that there were things I had no idea of. Drugs I had never heard of. and no clues to help. Honestly I'm pretty sure I will be taking it again. I'm trying to just let it go...I know I will be a good nurse and that much of the learning comes from working and asking.

Waiting to take the LPN nclex
I think your information is all in there all ready. You have it. don't worry. I try to take 2 online tests a day. I'm not making perfect but I am averaging 80% and if I pass I pass. My learning is going to come in the field right? If you have had decent teachers I believe the info is all there in your head...just waiting for that Nclex email if anyone needs some study stuff. v8grrl

Front Range Community College
hi! our class is small...22 students? We do our clinicals at BCH(mostly),Avista, and Exempla. Our drop out rate this year ahs been 1 person...Everyone else is A/B grades. We have been told the NCLEX pass rate for our school in Longmont is 98%...Can't beat that.

Front Range Community College
I am in the FRCC LPN (full time) program right now...due to graduate 12/13/08 (ty, very much) I have done really well. The teachers at our campus in Longmont are great, they have faith in us and push us and never hesitate to help. There have been a couple of teachers I didn't care for, but that is life. They test academically and NCLEX and I have learned alot. I think it is worth the wait...I think the cost is beyond reasonable with the COF( we are talking about 2500$ a semester) and the classes are small. When you register, they always make it sound worse than it is. It's not that bad. they will say the wait is 3 years, but I have friends who got in in 6 months.

How many residents do you pass meds too in Assisted Living?
I agree. It shouldn't be done. Anyone who has gone through nursing school should know that. I am doing clinicals at a LTC facility right now and am passing meds to 20 residents and doing insulin and finger sticks on most, and it's my 2nd week. I'm slow, and I feel rushed...but my preceptors tell me it's ok. Do it the way I learned not what other people do. She assures me I'll get faster. Safety is the key...I don't care who it is I want to make sure I do it right. I'll tell you something else I, found 2 patients in my first week that were getting the wrong meds because people weren't looking at the orders. If state comes in ....you must not pre pour. I'm learning alot in this round of clinicals. I love geriatrics :)
