So how does this work...
Hi Laura! I met with the ASU Advisor in January regarding the RN program and I asked her about the RN to BSN program. She said it is defintely not as competitive and there is not a wait list. She couldn't say much more because she is only advises for the RN program but there is an RN to BSN Advisor. She suggested that I meet with them. Anyway, hope this helps! Laura

scottsdale memorial health systen
I do not know very much but I do know my next door neighbor loves working there. She has worked there for 15 years and plans on retiring with them. They have great benefits including a Wellness Spa for women and all of the profits go to the women's center. :) If you work there you get a discount! From their website I noticed they have received the Magnet award. Also, their website can tell you a lot more about their benefits in more detail: http://www.shc.org/pm/ Good luck!

CGCC NET prep class need info...
Honestly, I have been checking back on this post to see if anyone knew any information about it. I have graduated from college with a B.A. in Communication and would be interested in a NET prep course. Why not go in well prepared and ace the NET? This will make you a much more desirable candidate for the program, especially if you are applying for the Banner program. Do you have the NET study guide? If not, PM me and I will share with you a way you can get one really cheap! :)

Pima Medical Institute
Is it okay of I PM you? I have a question for you...

Pima Medical Institute
I agree with you...if I had $40k lying around, sure, but I already have that in student loans from my B.A. degree that I am obviously not going to use. Is CAC, Central Arizona College? That is in Coolidge, right? Sounds like a great program...I believe I have read some posts about it. I am planning on working as a CNA in the meantime as well. I start my CNA class on May 5th and will complete it in 3 weeks (daytime class). Then I immediately go into A&P 1 & 2 for the entire summer, then I have baby #2, and finally I start Micro in the Fall semester!! Ahhhh!! Then I will be looking for a CNA job. I am not brave enough to work and take A&P in a condensed format at the same time! :) The Banner info. session was useful. Soo many people, standing room only!! I learned that you cannot apply to their program until you have fully completed BIO 202 and Micro. You have to be completely finished with both of these classes! Ahh!! I can understand it, but after you are completed with the class, you have to wait an entire semester for the application and interview process!! Haven't we waited long enough?? They said they were lenient with the last group (April 4 deadline) but from now on they are not making any exceptions. That is why I am planning on taking Micro in the fall. This way I can apply as soon as I get my grade in December. Also, with the Banner app, your NET scores do not expire. So, when you turn in your NET scores for the MCCD program, that is it. If you are reapplying to Banner, you can use the same scores for every application! Hopefully I can get in with the July cohort. I know they are not exactly the best company to work for, but I like the fact there are hospitals all around the country to choose from. I am also planning on delivering at Good Sam so it will be nice to see how the L&D department is. :) The program director seemed nice and it also seems like a good program. I live closest to CGCC but I am planning on applying for the Gateway program. I have heard (or read) soo many great things about their program. I am also planning on trying to get a job with Scottsdale Healthcare and apply to their RN program. I know it is challenging to get on with a hospital though. We will see. I am warming up to the idea of the Banner program...it would be nice to get in asap. Also, since I would not be paying for tuition and books, we could hire someone to stay with the kiddo's while I am at school. :) So many options...so little time! Keep me posted if you discover any other great programs and I will do the same!

Pima Medical Institute
Wow...sounds like they really put you on the spot. I would have gone today, but I went to the Banner Fellows Program information session. This is really the only day I could have gone. I have CNA school starting soon, then A&P 1&2 this summer. I really appreciate you sharing all of this information with us. It really helps with evaluating all of our options. So are you planning on applying to the Pima program?

CNA and support
I would also be interested in learning more about your facility. I begin RSAA on May 5th and will be looking for work soon after. Would you mind PM-ing me the name of the facility, or I can PM you as well. Thank you soo much! Also, if there is a referral bonus, I would be more than happy to share your name with them!

Does anyone know if you were to get your Associates from PMI if it would transfer to ASU? For example, would you be able to apply to the RN to BSN bridge program?

Aspiring RN ~ Is the Military Right for Me?
Hello Everyone, I am contemplating going to nursing school and was wondering if the military is able to assist with the training. I recently graduated with my B.A. in Communications and tried to find a job, but no luck. I am happily married and have a beautiful 15-month old daughter. After I had my daughter, I discovered my passion for caring for others. I really want to get into nursing, but I already have $50,000 in student loan debt. My ex-husband was in the Air Force and I truly loved the military lifestyle, granted I was a civilian. My husband is very supportive and loves to travel, so it might be perfect for us. My questions are: 1. Am I eligible for any type of assistance? I am 30... 2. I have not applied to nursing school, but I have a B.A. Are there any options for support while I am since I am not in nursing school yet? Does the military have their own training? 3. Obviously I do not want to be away from my family for any amount of time...is there a branch that will (really) not send me away from my family? I do not know if I could handle that. 4. I am contemplating the Navy and Air Force...which one do you recommend? I thank you in advance for your feedback!

Cna & Pct?
I have another question if you do not mind...after you did your OTJ training for your PCT cert., were you given a raise? It may sound silly, but I am kind of hesitant about getting hired on as a CNA then going through the PCT training and not getting a somewhat significant raise, does that make sense? I am still wondering if I will have a better chance at a higher wage if I go ahead and get my PCT training on my own. I appreciate your feedback! Thank you!

Best Places to Work as CNA ~ Arizona
Hello Everyone! I was wondering if fellow/former CNA's would not mind sharing where they love to work. I will be completing my CNA certification soon and want to work part time (somewhere with part time benefits) until my kiddo's are older. Then I would like to earn my BSN when my kiddo's start school. So my ideal place of employment would be somewhere that offers part time benefits and tuition assistance. Thank you in advance for sharing your experience/knowledge and best of luck to everyone!

MCCCD RN Program Waiting List
The Banner program is the Banner Nurse Fellows Program. Their website is: http://www.bannerhealth.com/Careers/Education/_Nurse+Fellows.htm It is a partnership b/tw the Maricopa Community Colleges and the Banner hospitals. You can attend an information session (there is one this Thursday @ 3pm, I believe) and obtain an application. You have to be accepted to the MCCCD nursing program before you can apply, but you can start working on your application now. You interview with Banner and if you are accepted, you will get into nursing school much much faster, but you have to make a three year commitment to work for Banner after you graduate. But you can always buy out of your contract. I believe it is around $5,000, but search previous threads to confirm this. You can find a few great threads about the program and learn lots more, I am just telling you what I have found out of the top of my head. It is a great program...also, it is accelerated...I believe you will earn you RN in just 16 months!! :) Good luck and hope this helps!

CNA and support
Wow!! $15/hr...may I ask what agencies are those? Is there a website that you like for CNA jobs? I am still learning all the ins and outs so I greatly appreciate any advice! :)

CNA and support
I believe it is great what you are doing! I am starting my CNA class at RSAA on May 5th as a stepping stone for the LPN/RN program...whichever I get accepted to first! :) At http://www.payscale.com they said the average wage for a CNA is $10.76/hr. But if you get in with a company that will pay for PCT (patient care technicican) training and will pay for your LPN program, what can be better! :) I do not know much about the wages, but I believe Long Term Care pays better. I am so happy for you and good luck with your CNA class!
