Do you know when this goes into effect ?

University of Arizona in Tucson has a BSN-DNP program that's mostly online. I think its 4 years though. Anyone else know of any others that can be pursued online?

I think he means part time flexible jobs, places that are hiring, or LTC's that will work with a students (CNA's) schedule. Right ?

Hello again Sundevil13, yeah, it was great meeting you too:) It was nice to put a face to the name. So much information from orientation but now I'm even more excited to begin. Everyone was so nice and It was a very positive and encouraging orientation. Some former UNLV students commented on how different it was for them during their orientation. Couldn't find our pics on the NSC site. I wonder if they'll put it up soon. I stayed the whole time to do the Drug test since i wasn't sure there was a Quest facility in Reno. Didn't get out of there until after 3. From what i know, our track will be done in May 2014. I'm going to try to send you an email.

To the working nursing students, do you find it hard to find a job in the hospital while you attend classes ? Do you need experience or does HR favor hiring nursing students for jobs such as those in admitting, unit coordinator, dietary aide or hospital CNA, etc ?

Hi Sundevil, Yeah, congrats to you too :yeah:Yeah, its becoming pretty competitive especially the other tracks. I've heard some positive things about the part time track so i'm excited to start. I'm moving from Reno and hoping i will be able to find a job down there and also one that will accommodate the school schedule. Are you in healthcare already ? Yes, after the BSN i would like to try for Nurse Practitioner and also teach. What about you ?

Hi Jacoba, Thanks :). Yeah relocating is such a pain. I've gotta move about 8 hours away from family. I got in at Nevada State College for the BSN program. I got into the the part time program so it will take me a little longer to reach my goal but at least it will give me a chance to work while i'm in school. Since i'm a NV resident it will only cost me a little over $6000 for tuition which i think is pretty cheap for a BSN. Its a blessing that we can finally say we will be nursing students Best of luck Jacoba.

Yes, I've heard part time is less competitive. I think more people want the accelerated or regular full time track. But they are cutting down on the number of openings for those tracks. I sent you a P.M.

CaliJessXoxo, I had a 3.5ish GPA and did not get into the accelerated or the regular track. However, i did get into the part time track. It seems to be getting more and more competitive.

Are you guys overwhelmed with getting things together for the program ? Housing, the right shoes, all the shots etc? Good luck on your journey guys. I was starting to regret not going to my interview at U of A and then got accepted to a program in Henderson NV. Yeah! We will all be nurses soon

Who will be attending NSC in the Fall ? I just got accepted to the Part time track. I'm excited but worried it will take me forever to reach my dream. For students in the program now, is it possible to switch over to a different track (the regular) the following semester once you are in ?

Bristowa, its more like 32 spots that are available for Fall, i just spoke with the nursing department about it. However, they will take another 32 for Spring. Wow, 100 people with 4.0 applied ? Did you hear that from the department ? Geez, that's crazy. Are you also trying for UNR ?

Kjsquared, isn't the Redfield campus the main campus ? So where will the traditional nursing program be held.... TMCC has a campus in south Reno right ?

Has anyone take Math 120 online at NSC or anywhere else online ? What professor do you recommend ? I think initials are fine on the site.

Did anyone else hear this ? Due to budget cuts, TMCC just cut their accelerated (16) month nursing program Now they only offer the traditional (no summer classes). I heard it on the news but can't find it on the site.

Thanks for that info puravidaLV. I wonder if NSC will consider lower scores for the TEAS. The TEAS V version was more difficult than the past version.

Keep your hopes up Jacoba, you may just get in right before the program begins. I canceled my interview 2 days before i was set to go. My hubby and i looked at the cost of U of A and considered my other student loans and decided that i should focus on schools locally in NV first and if i don't get into those then U of A can be considered only then. I am starting to regret my decision but hopefully i can get in somewhere this year. Best of luck to all those on the waiting list.

Is anyone applying to any of the tracks for Fall 2011 ? Now NSC has a point system.

Congrats everyone:yeah:, I dont know how many will be interviewed, they seem tight lipped about that. I was told though that they received close to 300 applications. That's crazy! Is there anyone from out of state on here ? I will be flying or driving not sure yet from northern NV.

Congrats Jacoba:yeah: My interview is the 19th at 8:30. When is yours ? Can you believe there are only 9 sponsorship positions total. Oh, well i opted self pay. Sooo nervous.
