LPN to RN AASN ASU-Jonesboro
Can anyone tell me ANYTHING as it relates to difficulty of the program, how easy/difficult it is to be accepted into the program, when do they send out acceptance letters after application for program has been submitted. I have been posting all over these forums and no one has responded and I am desperate to know so if you could help me with this I would be so grateful

Single Parent In Nursing School?!?!?
Hey hang in there. I know exactly what you are going through. I am a single mother of a daughter that will be 2 on aug 7 and ill be starting LPN school aug 11. (my bday is aug 13 *just thought id throw that in there*) I wont be sending my daughter anywhere b/c i cant imagine being away from her for even more than a day. Luckily for me though ive found a program that will pay for her daycare etc. while im in school. I dont think that i can make anything a number one priority over my baby, not even nursing school. I wont have to work while im in nursing school (thank God) so whatever time that i have left outside of studying will be spent with her b/c im a mommie first and a student second. That was just my 2 cents. U have to do what u feel is best for u and your daughter. God Bless!

Does blood make you feel sick?
I often wonder if i can be a nurse b/c i have VERY WEAK STOMACH. Im glad to know that im not the only who started out like that.

Compass Entrance Exam
I havent taken the Compass but i have taken a test called the ASSET and i had to take that in conjunction with the NET in order to be considered 4 the nursing program that i applied to and from my understanding the Compass and the Asset are almost the same. The ASSET is in the same format as the Compass is explained in the above reply and the NET and the ASSET were both pretty easy. So if you have taken the NET then i wouldnt be to worried about the Compass being difficult. Anyway, goodluck 2 ya and i hope this helps. God Bless!

@ joymama: 9 KIDS!!!!! I must say, honestly, that i am truly inspired by you. I have a 1 small daughter and i have been worrying about how im gonna go to nursing school and be an effective mommie. But ya know what, if u can do it with 9 kids then i have no right to complain about tackling nursing school w/ my one child. Again i say i am truly, TRULY inspired by you. God bless you and i just know that u will be a fabulous nurse!!!!

ASSET test....has anyone taken it?
Im going to arkansas state. i actually have taken both the net and the asset and i found the asset to be harder than the net. but the good news is that i got almost perfect scores on the asset. What school are u going to?

Curious...........
a friend and i were talking and we were wondering if u could get license if u had a felony/misdemeanor. she has a misdemeanor 4 not having proof of liability insurance. does anyone if that would prevent her from getting licensure?

Anxiously Waiting.........
Yes it is VERY indescribalble! It felt like i had just lost about 50 lbs when i read "This letter is to inform u that u have been selected......" b/c the wait was excrutiating for me (even though i only waited a week).I was so happy that I wanted to turn a flip but the neighbors would have thought i was crazy! LOL! anyway, CONGRATULATIONS 2 U!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm sure ur gonna be an excellent nurse!

Although i must say that i was a little surprised when i saw all of the stuff that i have to pay 4. I have to buy malpractice insurance, i guess that makes sense. So can anyone tell me what happens in orientations? The letter said it starts @ 830 am and we will be in there all day.

Question about tb skin test
I got one about 3 wks ago and it was a piece of cake. they just stick a small needle under your skin and it makes a bubble. Nothing compared to a regular shot!

I need a hug...
I can completely relate to you and i know how hard it is to be stressed out about getting in2 nursing school and having additional stressors in your life as well. I'm a single mother of a 1 1/2 year old and having to deal with the whole nursing school thing as well as work a full time job and be both mommie and daddy to my daughter is very challenging but i know that in the end it will all be worth it so u and your hubby keep God 1st, hang in there and everything is gonna be alright!!!!! BTW i said a prayer f4 u b4 i wrote this! Take care!

Fabulous GPA, horrid NET score!!!!
I took the NET test back in April (i think) and i made a 76. the program that im applying to requires that u make @ least a 60. Anyway, i found out from reading theses forums that the reading section was the part that got everybody all messed up and i got a book that prepares you for standardized tests and studied it and the most valuable thing that i learned from it about the reading part was NOT TO REGRESS! avoid regression at all cost when reading. Im not good with the whole reading comprehension thing so i when i took the NET i had to literally tell myself that i wasnt going to regress while reading and it really paid off for me. on the inferential reading part i scored 73% (not the best), on the main idea of passage part i scored 100%, and on the predicting of outcomes i scored 82%. Not too bad for someone who would have completely bombed that part of the test otherwise. And as far as the math portion goes, i asked the lady that administers the NET test what i could study as far as the math b/c im not too good in math either and she told me to go to the library and get a GED book and sure enough when i took the math part the things that i studied in that GED book was on there. i hope this bit of information helps someone. God Bless all of you that are struggling with your NET test! Best wishes!!!:wink2:

Anyway, i hope u get in and God Bless!
