I'm in my last semester of an Associate Degree program. I use flashcards a lot, I put everything on flashcards because I find that writing things down makes them stick in my mind better. Also, do they post your lectures online? They do ours, so I listen to them again sometimes that also helps because I catch things I missed. If they don't then I would get a tape recorder and record lectures. Another study tool is NCLEX review books. When we did Cardiology for a semester I bought one of those "Made Easy" books on Cardiology and it was a godsend. Hope this helps!

To differentiate between Chronic Bronchitis and Chronic Emphysema, think "Blue Bloaters" and "Pink Puffers". Chronic Bronchitis patients will be bloated and cyanotic because of o2 deprivation and Chronic Emphysema patients will struggle to breathe but be pink because they're not cyanotic. And as my nursing instructor told us, never use those terms in front of patients because yes they are derogatory but they help me remember.

I know your mom is a nurse and that's great that she can help you study.. But the fact that she writes your 20 page nursing process papers AND does the revisions on them is complete ********. How are you ever going to learn? I hate how you think you did "so bad" on every exam and when you pass it with flying colors you feel the need to brag about it all the time. Please, please, PLEASE stop asking, "Is that testable?". If the instructor is going over it in class obviously it's important and we may need to know it someday! Just because you're one of the few males in the class doesn't mean that you should be able to get away with anything you want to in class. Your ******** comments are really annoying! To my instructor, I know there's another thread for this but I just wanna add it here while I'm at it, I can't believe you asked us the first day of clinical who didn't want to work with peds clients. We are in school to learn, we shouldn't have a choice on if we're assigned a peds client if we don't want it. I think we all should have to take care of a peds client at least once! It's a learning experience!

I was in the same boat you were in. Yes the workload is horrible but it's not completely impossible. And the way my school does it, each nursing class is only offered in the spring or fall not both so I was set back a year. All of my friends are already working in the field and I'm still in school. It sucked at first, I went to their graduation and about died but I got over it. It'll all work out, trust me. I'll finally be graduating in May and I can NOT wait! Alyssa
