  1. Batch November 2008, PCHS graduate. The results of the NLE just came out and I found out that only 14 passed the nle exams in the Philippines, plus 12 repeaters. 8% of total passers. Its ironic that there are good students there but PCHS took off their nursing program I believe, as the passing rate was low already.
  2. the hospitals are not hiring anyone above 35...so its unfair to second coursers..
  3. I am wondering why QC General Hospital is still conducting its training fee(volunteer work) when this was already stopped by the DOH in their memo last October. This program has been changed to RN Heals wherein the new nurses are made to undergo 1 yr training with pay not the other way around. didnt they get the memo from DOH?
  4. as I said in the other forums, this program discriminates age, for second coursers who want to pursue their nursing career this is useless. DOH or whoever implemented this program should have given a fair chance to all...so what are they planning to do with the other 400,000 nurses unemployed till now?
  5. right now nope, according to them they are already closed. But if someone backs out, then thats the time they will call you. unfortunately they dont hire people above 35. i will call DOH tomorrow to verify this.
  6. Ortho.
  7. This program is useless for second coursers who are in their 35 yrs old and above as they have a memo that they will be getting only 35 yrs old and below, for the program. I tried to apply today, but was turned down as I am a second courser and wanted to apply for the program. When they asked for my age and I told them I was already past 35, they said its in the memo(DOH) that they cannot accomodate 35 yrs old and above. only in the philippines are you discriminated with age....
  8. I agree that we should stop the exploitation of us nurses, for one, volunteer is not counted as experience, whether you are in Saudi, the US or any other country. We strive to be volunteers to gain experience, but what we dont know is that we are exploited already. If you happen to see the news on the volunteer nurse who was shouted upon by the doctor, and he was accidentally injured by the doctor with a scalpel from an AIDS patient, you would be scared as volunteers dont have insurance, the hospital would not even give the time of day to heal you let alone take note of your plight since they know you need them. Its a business for the hospitals who are not hiring nurses since why should I hire nurses when in fact I can get thousands of applicants for free, and not pay them, while letting them do the dirty work. I hope this memorandum pushes through already as I know one government hospital in taft who is still conducting its training for 6 months and charging 10000, although I would say this is a great program but still, they should follow also the memo set upon by the DOH.
  9. If there is no nurse volunteeer programs, how come there are about 3 hospitals(which I just applied to) that would be starting their training come October and still charging fees ranging from 3k to 6k, for 3 to 6 months. Its still on, for them. purely business.
  10. actually i am not disappointing you paraluman, but to be honest, even if you passed the exam and without a backer, you wont get in... The reason why I said that is because I applied on their training program last October(last year)....on the day of exams, the batch that I belonged to was endorsed pala to take the exam on that day...meaning if you have a backer, they have a particular day for your exams...Sad to say I did pass but they ask me who my backer was and when I answered none, de ako tinanggap. So I just withdrewed my application. its not what you know...its who you know.
  11. I decided to back out of QCGH application since I am still waiting for my results of my PGH application. Unfortunately this hospital is still on "backer system mode" as it was announced on the day when I took my exam that most of us there, had connections(announced by the proctor itself) and that even though we were already assured of a golden ticket, we should still do our best...noticed that some people answered the exam quite fast, as the exam took 30 minutes to complete and yet some of them were done in 15 minutes. I was surprised actually since I didnt have any connection, yet my name was scheduled to have an exam on that day. Anyhow, in the Philippines it is still who you know and not what you know that will get you in to a hospital.
  12. dallasmommy: I am a second courser, I took my nursing program in a span of 2 1/2 yrs. Most of my subjects were credited as well. Although my first course was a technical course, they still manage to credit my subjects to them. Location of the school would be besides FEU. They have a map at wikipedia, you can check it out.
  13. im still contemplating on the process of applying now for NCLEX as you need a ssn for several states, and recession still is worse now as it is in the US as I heard, though I am heading there next year to check on prospects. yeah I know it takes months but I still am contemplating on the state wherein I might take it..I might take New Mexico as it is closer to Nevada. Im a guy. hehe. The process of PCHS is another question as well. I am planning to go to PCHS today to get some forms, unfortunately no one is answering their number, last I heard they are offering new courses now, criminology, secondary ed, et al, I will be heading there today to inquire about the NCLEX process though.
  14. dibuho: I think we were classmates, lol. are you a guy or a girl? I am still contemplating now to take my NCLEX, although am done with my local boards here. When did you take up your NCLEX then? I am planning to pursue my exams in the US though, as I have family in Nevada.
  15. hello dibuh0, did u graduate in april 2008 or november 2008? batch 2008 here as well, november batch though.
  16. Thanks for the posting here at allnurses. I was able to get in to the last 2 slots this afternoon around 3pm. Also was able to talk to the head director, Maam Marilyn who was quite accommodating. Unfortunately though, as I learned earlier, today was the last day of submission of requirements as a lot have inquired on their training slated February, for the next batch. I also was able to ask Maam Marilyn about the training fee, which was 4,800(a far cry from the 2,400 last batch) since the training would be held on the new building already(I hope they do open the new building as it is more accomodating). What is the exact coverage of the exams anyhow, I wasnt able to ask if I need to bring pencils(like the NLE exam) or is it an essay type of exam, for those who got in to QCGH, how were the exams?
  17. unfortunately you cannot get a social security number unless you find a sponsor to sponsor your working visa, or you get married in the US. Right now everyone has the same problem for california as they are requiring sss to be eligible to take the CA NCLEX exams.
  18. the deans form on the net is for nursing assistants and entry level nurses. we applied for the training..they do not post this on the net, you have to get this thru pgh only.
  19. i was there earlier getting the deans form......they released 220 applications good thing I was there early..just curious how many applicants normally do they get for the apcn training? submission of requirements is set for dec, but the exam is on january. Now I am having second thoughts as I would be going out of the country for 10 days in January, I might not make the exam though..
  20. thanks for all those who have posted. Based on the Memo, the date was Nov 2007. I was able to search for another new memo dated January 2008 which superceded the old memo. Apparently our school is not permitting us to take the November exams because according to them we might be questioned with CHED as we graduated October, but now I think it is because they cannot rush the transcripts on time, hence the memo.
  21. actually we have been reviewing since June of this yr from our course audit. I am in a hurry since the information that I retained right now from our reviews are still intact, unlike by June all the knowledge stored in my mind would be gone, at least I want to try taking it by November to see if I can pass..as most of my friends who took it before graduated in October and took the December exams and passed...
  22. I was reading a memo from PRC from my school that stated that Octoberian graduates of nursing cannot take the November 2008 exams. So is it true then that Octoberians are not allowed to take the board till next year then, since the last time I read, Octoberian graduates can take the exams just as long as they can satisfy the requirements. With this new memo, PRC stated that March graduates cannot take the local board by June, and October graduates cannot take the local board by November or December. I hope someone can shed light on this, thanks.
  23. I think I am the best person to answer this question... Actually I am a licensed architect who shifted to nursing. I have been in architecture for 15 yrs, a practicing architect but my passion was really in nursing even before I entered architectural school. Shifting from archi to nursing is quite difficult as in archi we are trained to be creative when it comes to our designs, to evenly consume the best space there is to our plans(as right now it is very expensive per sq meter to build a house, much alone do the specifications, you really have to be good at utilizing space). I decided my luck at nursing since it was the "in demand course", and to have a fallback course since as everyone is jumping the bandwagon, I decided also, to give it a try. This is my last semester in nursing and basically what I have learned in nursing is, it is very hard to shift from archi to nursing because there are a lot of medical terms unlike in archi wherein we are dealing with space..in nursing, we are dealing with lives. You can delete or edit a command in your plans thru autocad from our designs, and thats it.....we can accept change orders, but in nursing, there is no delete button..if you make a mistake administering drugs, then you are liable for that mistake...so think it over if you really wanna shift to nursing..Its a very hard course but rewarding since you would be exposed to a lot of people who in turn would make a difference to your life.:D
  24. is PRI Philippine Rehab Institute? Had a friend who studied there but have lost contact with him... I think that our school is also one of the main factors why the attitude of second coursers are like that. But I think there are a lot of personality problems/attitudes that need to be corrected in our way of learning within the school. Most of my groupmates now are second coursers, I dont see the need lang why they need to please our clinical instructors with gifts, etc etc etc, and yet if you dont join them, they would have a fit with you. There are a lot of attitude problems within my school, that most times you would find it irritating that most of your groupmates, who are professionals in their own field, would be the one spreading rumors behind your back, backbiters, et al. I have a short fuse as well so sometimes even though they think they are far superior to other students, I stand up for what is right...as we are all going to that same school and paying the same tuition as the others..
