New nurse critical care- am I getting it?
Thanks! The pt was getting 1mg Dilaudid q4hrs and oxycodone for break through pain. I made sure to keep them on time so she was getting meds every 2 hours. She had no orders for anxiety but I fixed that after this episode! I guess I feel like I ask entirely too many questions. I hope I do get confident. Thanks again for your input!

New nurse critical care- am I getting it?
I graduated in May, boards in July (5 days before we had our 3rd boy). Started on a step down unit in the hospital I've worked at for 5 yrs in Feb. I am off of orientation by about 3 weeks. Two nights ago I had a pt on a vapotherm that went into respiratory distress r/t anxiety. She bounced around so I was trying to give her a minute to recover on her own. Another RN walked in and was like "do this do that."when all was said and done I felt two things: a) did I not react quick enough and did I fail and b) I have to be coached still on so much is this normal or am I failing at this critical care stuff? I feel so stressed out, as I mentioned I have a new baby a new job and I feel so lost. On top of that they have made change where I work and put a heavier load on the RNs and less on our NA's. I also blew a perioheral IV giving D50 to a pt. I feel so dumb.

I am a RN now :) I passed!
I just wanted to give some of you all hope :) I took my test on Tuesday afternoon. Got good pop-u and yesterday OK BON had my license number listed (right above my husbands:)!!! I am 39 weeks pregnant and have two kids at home (ages 6 & 8). I didn't have the money to do the Hurst or Kaplan programs. I didn't have the time or quiet to do lots of practice questions. I have the Kaplan strategy book and managed maybe 50 questions a day between the exhaustion and the kids bickering. I really thought I was doomed. I left the test crying. I passed!! I feel so relieved! I just took my time, read the questions and went with ABC's! Airway always wins ;)Good luck to you all. You can do it. Just remember to breathe!

How long does it take to have your license issued?
I took my test Tuesday 6/26 and it's up on ok board of nursing with license # today. I think they said I get my passed letter in mail in a week. No idea when I get physical license. I still haven't gotten diploma from school!

Pearsonvue Trick - Does it Work Every Time? Part 3
I took mine this afternoon. I go the pop up you guys are describing! I didn't have any time to study so I am super nervous! I felt like it was so hard and I was a failure. I hope I find differently!! I got a paper from Pearson that says I can pay $8 to get quick results. But I don't see it on the website. What am I missing? Or is their "quick results" not so quick? Haha. Congrats to you all!!

In your opinion, how difficult are NCLEX SATA questions?
I take it next Tuesday and I never do well on the SATA questions. I need practice and I need to try this advice of treating them as T/F. EEK! Good Luck all!

Some insight on passing the NCLEX
Any advice on getting the SATA questions correct? I always seem to mess them up by not selecting or over selecting I know I need to know the info but some of the questions I get the info mixed up. Thanks!

Best study material for the NCLEX?
Im glad you asked this, as I take the NCLEX in a few weeks and am in a panic also. I have my two kids at home with me so I am not able to put hours into it. Good luck!

How do I deal with a liar?
Heres my situation: I work in a hospital as a CNA. I have applied once to one school for nursing and was crushed when I received the news that I did not get in. I was embarrassed to tell my co-workers so I didnt. I let it slide until one day a co-worker asked me what I was doing that day (we work nights) and I replied "going to meet the Counselor in charge of Nursing to see how I can gain more entry points for my application." So the next night the co-worker comes into work and immediately tells everyone that I did not get in to school (again, embarrassing). Its MY business!!!! So the way she said it was she got into THE SCHOOL I had applied for, but I didnt! Before hand we had heard nothing of her applying. Then a couple of days later we had a float CNA helpout on days. During shift change in my presence she told this CNA that she was accepted to the community college down the way a DIFFERENT school than the first. So I questioned her and then she claimed she got into both. So Thursday was orrientation to the community college nursing program and another CNA from our floor went. I asked her if the co-worker I suspect is lying was there and she said "didnt see her." It was a smaller group. This co-worker has been lying about ridiculous things and has many people wonder ing if she is telling the truth on anything. She also has an LPN story. So, how do I deal with this, just an hour or so ago I heard her telling a bunch of people about her "school work?!" Shes not fooling me!!!!!!!! :argue:
