  1. I know you weren't asking me, but I am in the NNP program at Duke. It is a distance based program.
  2. I also have The core curriculum for neonatal nurses. It is in an outline format. It is from AWHONN.
  3. Anyone know what books we are going to need for 580, nurse as scholar 1? Thanks
  4. http://www.dukestores.duke.edu/medicalcenterstore/books/pdf/medcoursebooks_fall_nursing.pdf This is the link for the booklist that the bookstore has posted. Some of the classes have their books listed. I'm planning on buying from either Duke or Amazon, whoever has the cheapest new books (I know I could save a lot with used, but I just don't like used books). Another thing I noticed is a lot of the books are one edition old, so I just want to wait and see what the instructors send out. I want to be sure sure this list is correct.
  5. I have not registered yet, I'm still waiting for my advisor to approve my Mat. Plan.
  6. Are the rest of you planning to do on campus or online orientation? I'm planning on making the trip and doing on campus.
  7. I talked to someone in admissions today, they said the flu vaccine will show incomplete for now. I was told this will not have any affect on the pre-enrollment process. They will send you a notification in the fall when your new flu shot is due.
  8. I will be starting with Duke in the fall. It is a part time online program and you have to go to NC about 5 times during the 2.5 years. So far I like the director and other advisors, they are easy to ask questions and get an answer quickly. I would check with your state and also the school you are interested in. There were a couple schools that I talked to that we're not interested in contracting students in my state.
  9. I found my own clinical site. I'm in the neonatal program and they have not had any students in Washington state. I contacted all the hospitals with level III or IV NICU's in my area. I ended up going with my areas Children's hospital and the neonatologists and NNP's staff 4 hospitals in the area. They are 45 mins to almost 2 hours away from my house.
  10. NICU,RN I sent you a PM.
  11. Just out of curiosity, do you know how many students were accepted into your specialties? For mine I was told that 8 were offered admission.
  12. Thank you! I will check into that site and course. I am happy that I am doing a advanced physiology class before having to take pathophysiology. I found a couple books for review they are called clinical physiology made ridiculously simple and clinical pathophysiology made ridiculously simple. I have started reading the one for physiology and really like the layout, it was written by a physician who wanted to create a clear and concise review for the medical boards. They are written by Steven Goldberg, MD and are reasonably priced. If I come across anything else I will post about it here too. Good luck in your upcoming program!
  13. Make sure to check your junk mail, that is where mine came to me.
  14. I received mine yesterday too.
  15. How did you verify your info?
  16. Does anyone know the date for new student orientation? I need to request it off now if I want any chance getting it off.
  17. I did too today! I feel a lot of stress off my shoulders now that I have it done.
  18. Klone, yes! I forgot about that since transferring to the NICU. When I first transferred I tried to get others to document it the right way but stopped trying after nothing changed.
  19. T P A L It is term, preterm, abortion (includes elective and miscarriage) and living So the 0-2-0-2 would mean she had 2 preterm deliveries and 2 living children. They would have been pre term twins since she is G1
  20. I bought one of those really big wall calendars and wrote everything out. I would put class times, big test days, home study time and home family time. My husband and son knew when I was able to talk on the phone while I was at school or what days I would be extra busy. I worked full time as an LPN during my RN with my husband at home with our 2 year old. Worked full time as RN during my BSN and I am going back to grad school in August. My son is now 6. Time management and communication are going to be very important.
  21. I am starting my MSN at Duke for neonatal nurse practitioner in the fall. I will be attending part time and advanced physiology will be one of my 2 classes during the first semester. Does anyone have any suggestions for review? I just would like to lightly review some topics before I start the class. Thanks
  22. I did earlier this month. My financial aid to do items still shows that the FAFSA needs to be completed though. I have also applied for a few scholarships. I am a little anxious about the cost! I have made it through my undergrad very close to debt free.
  23. My deposit is going out next week too. Duke is the only place I applied.
  24. I'm in too! Congrats to everyone else who got in!
  25. Neither does mine! 😁 I just got off work so I'm off to sleep, hopefully I get to wake up to good news!
