  1. Thanks for the advice! My only concern with my "first job," is that it's one that is not in a hospital. I really want to be in a hospital right away for the mere fact that they provide a residency program with education, orientation, continuous training and room to grow. Not to mention paying off student loans.
  2. I did, however I did not get the position. I believe due to no experience. I have no idea what to do next. New Grad jobs are very limited.
  3. Must be nice when you don't even have to go out looking for a job...now we have to beg them to give us one!
  4. I graduate in May and have begun the process of looking for limited new grad positions in the local hospitals. Any advice for a new grad as far as setting myself apart from the rest to get hired? With the limited positions open for new grads, what in the interview and on my resume with help my efforts? On the cover page and resume...Who do I put it attention to: Nursing Recruiters names or the nursing manager of the unit?
  5. I needed this! Its the day before my final exam of nursing school and its probably the hardest day of my life. I would rather do anything but study right now. My brain has checked out and I have no motivation. How can I have no motivation when all I have is one test left before graduation?
  6. My best friend and I graduate nursing school in May. She has 3 kids under the age of 4, one of which she just gave birth to in December! My advice to you is to prepare by informing your husband and making a mutual decision about study time. The biggest challenge for my friend was finding study time. Nursing school does not just stress you out, it will stress out your husband and kids. It takes a lot of time away from the family, but in the end benefits everyone! Its an investment in the families future! Juggling little ones and the husband is hard, but if he can be patient and help out it makes everything much easier!
  7. Thanks for the great interview tips and questions! I graduate in May and hope to start interviewing and lock in a position very soon. The problem is, not too many places are hiring due to cutting back in this tough economy. The places that are hiring are not looking for new grads. Any suggestions for making myself stand out as a new grad and convincing my interviewers?
  8. I have to agree...whatever block your currently in. However, the toughest blocks for me and the rest of my fellow classmates were blocks 2 and 4. Im in the accelerated program and everything moves very fast. We learn one thing...then lose it when we learn another! My final, final exam is tomorrow and then all I have is precetorship and graduation! My reccomendations are to remember ABC's, the nursing process, Maslow's and Erickson's when testing and you should do fine! Good Luck!
