Is it me...or is it impossible to get an interview and a job in NJ! :(
I graduated this past May w/ an associates..passed the NCLEX in July and actively searching all day every day. You might be luckier than I am because Valley, and Hackensack amongst others i presume prefer BSN. Ive seen allot more graduates get hired when they do a Externship in one of these hospitals...Good luck! :))))

NCLEX study review question
i always just figured that w/ metab acidosis the pt has diarrhea and w/ diarrhea we lose electrolytes and CA is one of them..this was the way i used to understand it when applying the material.

Any nurses out there with siblings who are doctors?
It also depends on your culture as well..Some cultures view nurses as a maid and doctors the high all mighty..i know because sadly i come from a culture like this.

Looking for amazing summer experiences?
I think thats an excellent idea!..Where im from (NJ)... New grads are having a tough time with potential jobs..i would say 6-12 months after elgibility. I do have 2 kids and a hubby so that would most likely be difficult..but at the same time the experience, lifelong memory, positive resume builder, and potential to make a huge difference makes it allll sooo very appealing!

What to do first if a choking child becomes unconscious
so if we already know the child is unconscious because of a foreign object obstructing the airway why would we still waste crucial 10 seconds to check the airway? i choose chest compressions.

Hesi Exit Test
wow..I take the Hesi in April and now im even more petrified!! We have a predictor exam a week beforehand..if we pass that with an 80, we are excused from taking the Hesi..but if we do not pass the predictor exam, we definately have to pass the Hesi.:sstrs:

Test Anxety
I had the same problem in med surg..I happend to say it in front of my psych professor (we take psych and med surg together)..her advice worked big time..she told me to never ever go to school the day of the test early, and if i have to go in early to just stay in the car and go over some last minute note cards etc..y? because most of your classmates are already in school chit chatting about the test and content..this probably releases the most anxiety/confusion ever!! and of course I did not realize it until I waited 5 minutes before the test time to walk in one day and landed a high grade. :)

UGHHHH dosage
i got the same answer as you did as well
-
Dosage Calculation Policies
at my school we have to get a 100..and u have 3 chances...I dont believe this is harsh at all...it is a huge potential for a lethal med error.

Do You Regret Nursing School?
I cried when my 1st semester clinical instructor yelled in my face; screamed at my hubby when the kids wouldnt sleep and I needed to study; had many mini melt downs because of paper work deadlines on top of lecture exams..lost an enormous amount of wt because of the stress involved; ended up with htn; and even became broke with the recession; But I will never call it regret...I can call it the essence of blood and sweat that lead me to my dream come true and now my last semester...thank goodnesss!

Where Do You Study???
noo not at all..the library is huge and quiet.

Drug Calculations: what works for you??
oddly enough..I am really good in Math (wish i was the same with lecture exams loool) but I do notice w/ others at my school is that if they can see first hand "WHY" the formula is set up a certain way..broken up first..explained..then solve..I find that this method worked the most when helping out with med math.

Where Do You Study???
Since I have 2 little ones its impossible to study at home..So i find a nice little cubicle at the college where I hibernate for about 7-8 hrs on saturday..again on sunday..and every morning before class and clinicals...phewww.

I need to do better on my nursing exams, PLEASE HELP!
Get an Nclex book and start doing questions galore after you finish all of your readings. It will help you gain and apply the critical thinking needed in order to answer the questions correctly...Try Mosbys, Lipincott, and Saunders....good luck!
