  1. No she did not describe the purulent drainage as "*****" in her nursing notes.... this is going to be really stupid, but i have seen this post 7 times and CANNOT figure what the stars are covering!!i know what the drainage looks like, but cant find anything with that many letters! i feel stupid, but really want to know!!
  2. OMG!!! was she serious!
  3. Oh no the nurse didnt. . . tell me to straight cath a pt that JUST voided!!! i wasnt not aware of this however!
  4. Oh no she didnt ....realize her pt with MS who is paralyzed from the waist down and is obviously incontent had a bm and asked to let her know next time so she can get him to the bathroom quickly! My first day as a CNA, felt so bad and stupid after i realized he didnt even know he had one!!
  5. buy a pharm book. The one i have sucks and it has explained every single one of these drugs. Are you taking online? I think you should be very happy your instructor is telling you what to know! LOL! we have 7-8 ch. tests and do not get a study guide, so consider yourself very lucky!! you can purchase MedDeck, its a box of drugs that tells the indication, S/E, contraindictions and so on. Its pricey, but I have like it so far. Good luck.
  6. really cool! this will help a lot!
  7. Where can I find this book? My pharm teacher isnt the best and I think my book is in French so I would really like to purchase this book you are talking about. Shannon
  8. thank you very much for this! If you can think of any more, pls add!
  9. I was wondering if there was a link to get to these? I really would appreciate the help in pharmacology! Thanks!
  10. So I am currently struggling with Pharmacology. I am having a hard time memorizing the drugs and classifications! I got an 80 on the first test, then a 68 on the second!!!! I studied so hard and was so confident about the test that I couldnt believe my result! Does anyone know any good acronmys that they used for certail drugs or study hins? p.s. im working on adrenergic, beta and alpha, cholinergic, and both blockers...AHG!!!! PLEASE HELP! Shannon
  11. I am 23 and in my last year of nursing school. I have a 2 yr old and it has been the hardest year of my life! Between studying, houskeeping, working, cooking dinner, daycare, babysitter it is one thing after the other. I have set my studying times from 9pm to 3am getting up at 530 to go to school. Nursing school is no joke and i dont think anyone understands that until they are there. It is doable of course; however I would advise waiting until you are finished to get pregnant. My good friend got accepted in the school that i am in and she got pregnant 4 wks before semester started, they actually talked her into waiting until after the baby was born to apply again because there will be so many restrictions while she is doing her clinicals. You may try applying to get your LPN (1 yr after pre-reqs), having a baby, and getting your RN online at your own pace. I know many people doing that and it has worked out so far. Shannon
  12. I dont want to transfer, but i studied all that i could for that hessi..i did all the Q in the book (325) AND went to a 2 1/2 hour review. I also did quite well throughout the semester during the tests. If i didnt pass it the first time, then im not giving them any more money to waste my time. If i could redo the test knowing what is on it now, i still would not know what to study!! i think i just need to start over...... Someone is actually talking lawsuit to get her money back so i think that something will happen, but im just going to count my losses (all 7,000 of them:wink2:) and start new. I think your right i will be at least ahead of everyone else book wise... I also just found out the ONLY book that we went by, Potter and Perry, is the book that thye told us NOT to get at the school i am hopefully going to attend.....hmmmm
  13. :crying2:so i failed the first semester with a 74.2....needed a 75 to pass. i got a 97% in clinicals but that does not matter if i didnt pass lecture. i cried for a week straight and now every time i see a commercial or hear anything about nursing i feel like crying my eyes out. being on this site is even hard for me. i have never failed at anything and have done really well in school. i had a b average before the last hessi test. 80% of the class failed it as did i. the test was 2/3 of our overall grade. i worked so hard, studied my ass off and tried harder than most of the ppl in the class. i even "tutored" 3 girls in the class before most tests. the dean had a meeting to discuss if we wouls be able to retake the hessi since so many of us failed, but i got the call today that all tests were valid and grades were to stay the same......i just threw away 7,000 dollars...yes my school was 395 a cr hour. and now i have a balance of 1,058 dollars that has to be paid before i get my transcripts so i can transfer to another school.,....i dont know what to do....i feel so mad, sad, rejected, embarrased....if i cant get through the first semester how am i going to be able to et through the rest of the schooling??????ugh!!!:crying2: out of 50, a total of about 30 failed the first semester, and as far as i know, only 15 passed the hessi...and 3/4 failed the second year, but they had to do something about that since they would not have enough for the second semester:second year.
  14. im working part time, but i dont get financial aid anymore either. Take out a small subsidized loan for your everyday needs. Most have an interest rate of only 6% if you dont qualify for a subsidized loan. It is well worth it and takes a GREAT deal of stress off your shoulders.
  15. not at all! I have 3 women in my class who take the full 3 hours to take the test every time! The instructor should not have said that and i can see why it make you unsure while taking the midterm.

  17. My instructor told me to email it to her, but OF COURSE, she has not gotten back to me on what i need to fix and/or change. So as a first year nursing student this will be the first actual care plan that i have had to wirte. I am extremley nervous and do not know i meet the expectations. I am nervous about my wording because i know that i tend to veer toward "slander" instead of nursing terms. PLEASE if you have anyknowledge in care plans skim over mine and let me know if it is horrible or acceptable. No Full identifiers or full names so do not worry.
  18. You are absolutley right about the 14 page packet! I had everything done except that.
  19. Daytonight, i had a care plan question, was wondering if you had time to look at it?? Or if you are in the process of looking at it. I had one response to it which was acually very helpful, but would like more than one opinion.
  20. Ya i had one response from 2 hours ago, just seeing all the other questions that have 7-40 responses....and i keep checking and no new ones:cry:!! LOL...
  21. Just wondering if anyone can read my Questions considering i never get any replies!! Maybe my questions are just stupid, but i just thought it was weird that i do not get any to my questions!
  22. SOOOO after reading the replies for this question i was wondering how much should i expect for a first "real" paycheck?? I have always worked part-time since i was 14 (now 22) and bring home about 800-900 a month!!!! Just wondering how much everybody brought home a week for their first check...am i going to be that surprised!
  23. I need help with my nursing care plan. I am also filling out a physical assessment data collection form and would just like maybe a sample to see if i am doing it right. Know any good sites? careplans.com costs money and i dont want to pay for just browsing. Thanks!!!!
  24. WAITINGFORTHEDREAM that sounds like a good nursing diagnosis. Thanks! daytonight i have already done that i was just looking for a simple nursing diagnosis. i am finished with my whole care plan, just needed that "right" term to finish it up.
