Maimonides pays well, like LITCH. Also Methodist. They are both good hospitals.

maimonides medical center/ Changing jobs after only a few months
Maimo is great! The work environment is very down to earth but efficient. The hospital is extremely busy. I use to work in the ED and its is i believe the 2nd busiest in the state of something. The L&D unit is also busy. It is a great teaching hospital and you will learn soo much. It is located in a very Jewish community and the hospital is Kosher and follows many Jewish practices. The hospital is unlike others in a good way. There was also a book written about it recently. GL with your interview.

Where to get DICKIES scrubs in NYC?
there is a store called life uniform located all around the city but not in. I usually shop online at metrouniforms.com. There is also a store called ideal in brooklyn and the bronx that carry some dickies but you should call in advance to make sure they have ur size. Hope this helps :)

Name the hospital and its Starting Salary!!!
Just incase anyone is wondering about Bronx and Westchester hospitals: Lawrence Hospital Center in Bronxville: 30.61 per hr (new grad) up to $41.62 hr (with exp) + $0.51 hr BSN & $3,995 yr evening diff, $7800 Night Diff NON- Union Hospital NY Westchester Square Medical Center: NYSNA hosp $62,717 base + $1,300 BSN Night diff $6,000 Montefiore: NYSNA base $68,456 + $1,300 BSN & Night Diff = $6,000 White Plains Hospital Center- non union $59,000 Base + $1,000 BSN Thats about all I know for now. Basically every hospital in the Bx pays less than NYC hospitals except Monte and obviously HHC hospitals are the same all around. Salary is huge when it comes to choosing a facility to work at. I know that I didnt study so hard in school to be making slacker salary:wink2:

Name your review...............
Your learning ext scores are awesome. Dont change your date, you seem to be ready. Just make sure you know the basics such as lab values. You should be fine. GL! btw- I used learning ext and saunders primarily.

LONG, LONG post ahead!:typing I PASSED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! So glad that all the hard work and sleepless nights finally paid off. This was def the hardest time in my life, 3rd time is a charm. Best advice I can give after taking it 3X's is to try to be as positive as possible and pray harder then ever. Respect this test eventhough it has the power to make u feel lower than low (trust me i know!). Believe in yourself because although its hard, you WILL be an RN. I used Suzzanes first tip only and wrote tons of notes down in my personal "nclex-rn notebook". Once I was done I went through my notes about 10 times. In between (when i got bored) I also did about 1000 q's from the cd and i used learning ext for three weeks focusing on the q's only. I did soooo many q's whenever time allowed from lippincott, kaplans purple book, mosby cd comprehensive, nclex made red easy, exam cram, fuer cd and so many more all thanks to Barnes and noble and some nurse friends who passed down there learning material. I truly believe that you have to do whatever you think works best. I have recieved sooo much advice (for ex: make sure that i did 8 hrs a day for 3 weeks, just do q's, dont study the day before the exam.... )Well i did not listen because when I was tired, I took a break and when i felt like i needed time for myself, I completely tried to zone out from nclex world and the day brfore the test if i felt like i needed a quick refresher on a topic, i looked it up quick. do whatever feels right... For me, kaplan did not work because I learn by reading and the blue kaplan book is sorta in chart/narrow format not detailed enuf. Saunders is the best because you really do absorb so so so much. This site is amazing and even though i did not post often, i always read threads and appreciated everyones stories, strategies, and help. You guys have been a great great support. ALL OF YOU WILL SUCCEED! dont ever ever give up and surround yourself with as much positive energy as you can....... thank u all, -Crystal RN:nurse:

Getting NCLEX Results Anytime now
hey...im also waiting, woke up every hr last night. this is crazy. the first time i tested and failed w 75 i had NO priority and only like 1 SATA. I dont even know what to think anymore.. o man
-
Nclex-rn
hey, i'm in NY also and I dont think that there is a limit on how many times you can retake. also the wait is def 45 day exactly here. Im currently waiting on results for my 3rd time testing. Kaplan also didnt work for me at all. This time I used Saunders and did as many q's as possible from over 7sources. I def felt more confident third time around but i dont know yet... I know ppl that took f-n-r and gave me there 200q's cd but in my opinion the rationals arent really in depth like saunders/kaplan/mosby/lippincott. do whatever you feel helps retain as much info as you can, u can do it!

April 2008 NCLEX test takers, COME ON IN!
Hey, i took it today also for the third time. I had 75q's. I also had many sata and priority. I remember reading a post that discussed sata and priority q's being higher level. the last 2 times i tested i didnt have many sata or priority and i failed with 75 & 265. so im guessing/hoping that many sata when the comp shuts off is a good sign... Good Luck and kit. try to keep a + outlook while u wait:weathersunsmall:

Took the test today!!
hey all. Well heres my story... I took the exam this morning at 8am for the 3rd time! The first time I took it I had 75, 2nd 265, third and hopefully last time i had 75 again. The breakdown went something like this..10 or so infection control, about 7-10 select all that apply, surprisingly like 3 or 4 on DM, mabey 6 meds, 1 delegation and the rest priority (which one to see first, who to call back first). This time I used the saunders book and did about 1000q's from the cd and also many q's from mosby, kaplan, lippincott, f-n-r and also random books form barnes and nobles. My god i feel relieved that the exam is over but still so unsure:bluecry1:... So Please people i ask of you all to pray with me /for me:bow: the testing center was so obnoxiously loud. There was construction going on a floor up and at times i had to take a break becasue i was starting to loose focus. I am def going to call pearson and tell them abt this incident :uhoh3::bugeyes:ahhh. anyhow, good luck for those of you waiting for results, for now i will join the group. thanks for listening. I will keep you all updated:typing -Crystal

NCLEX prayers, does it work?
hey, I feel the same way you do. so many people tell me that they are praying that god gives me the strength to pass. I too am starting to believe.. So I will pray for you. This exam is just so odd that praying seems to be one of the few things that can keep me sane.

depressed.
I know exactly how you feel and it's sad that this dumb exam makes us feel so low. I'm also studying for the third time. In my case, the parents compare me to all of my friends who have already passed. Its hard, i know and at times I feel like I will never be able to pass so what is the point in picking up a book. On the other hand, we have worked so hard and its this one exam that is standing in the way of our career...we will succeed, we will. I feel like its my nerves that play a huge role on test day but mabey i'm just dumb, who knows!?! Im using Saunders now also and doing numerous q's. hopefully it helps. We are just stuck in a rut right now but just think of how amazing we will feel when this is all over and we are officially nurses! Dont loose hope. its so so so so hard but just get back on the horse, one day we will look back and laugh at this ridiculous nclex journey...

Taking boards again...after taking them in 1977
Wow, sounds like you have been through alot... I am studying currently with saunders and i think its great for content but I understand what you mean by wanting to know how to apply it. First off you def need to know the content in order to be able to apply it and even though you have practiced in the past, the nclex has nothing to do with the real world (as we all know). why dont you use saunders for content review becasue its more in depth then kaplan. use kaplan mostly for stratagies and questions. there are so many ways to study, it's difficult to focus on one technique. try to get organized and stick to a plan. Good Luck!

April 2008 NCLEX test takers, COME ON IN!
I have been studying daily and frankly at this point i'm just so unmotivated. I do q's daily and read the same material over and over and over again. I canceled my last test date because I did not feel ready but now that I have no date in stone I just feel bored and blaa. This test has taken over my life and I know that I shouldn't let it but I cant help not thinking about it every second of everyday. ALL my friends are nurses and working already... Should I just schedule a day and stick with it? I dont know if I feel this way because i'm ready to test AGAIN or if its just that this studying nonsense is getting old. My gray hairs are showing more and more! Any advice would be greatly apreaciated. Thanks

April 2008 NCLEX test takers, COME ON IN!
I also get bored easily like you and forget content. I failed twice and currently just finished on Suzanne's plan tip one (waiting on the 2nd tip). It is ALOT of content, so much more than Kaplan. Kaplan was OK for only the strategies but as for content, it's to brief. Last time I took the exam I had all 265q's and there were many questions that Kaplan's blue book did not cover at all. I'm hoping that the Saunders book helps, i mean theres no hurt in trying. The only thing is that now I am also starting to review q's and I constantly need to go back and review the notes I took from Saunders. I hope that if I keep reviewing my notes and do q's my brain will not forget. Suzanne's plan gets so much great feedback so in my opinion its worth a shot. We will be RN's! I have learned that this test is very psychological. We will do it...GL

April 2008 NCLEX test takers, COME ON IN!
hey all! I will also be testing sometime in April and I would like to be added to your list. I just unscheduled my last date because it took me forever to do the first part of Suzannes tip. This is going to be my third and hopefully last time testing. I can't stand not having a life because of this dreaded exam. We can all do it!

<<<i Just Found Out My Results 2day March 6th>>>
OK, so I have been reading these threads since the first time I was preparing for the boards. This is the only thread I feel that I can sincerely relate to. I feel you so much that i'm sitting here teary eyed. I am studying again and hoping it will be the last time. This will be my 3rd attempt. This is the worst experience I have ever been through. Everything in life seemed to be on track until NCLEX world hit me hard. I quit my job (thinking that I had enough funds to hold me over for a month and a half) but I failed again. Now I am struggling with funds living day by day and paying rent with my recent tax return, which is pathetic, I know. I also have gained weight and my daily routine involves waking up and going either to the library or Starbucks to read and do questions because I cant stand staying in all day. I have also distanced myself from friends and family. At this point my parents avoid the grueling subject and my poor boyfriend is suffering because he just moved to the city to be with me and my situ is not allowing us to enjoy it together. Overall, I have been miserable and coping is hard. The only thing I tell myself is that when it's all over I will have a job waiting for me wherever I am and things will work out. I really do believe that everything happens for a reason (I am not religious at all). Honestly I refuse to give up, $40,000 in debt from college will haunt me for the rest of my life if I do. This time i'm using Suzanne's plan instead of the Kaplan course book. Just keep going. We can do it. It will work out hopefully sooner than later for you and me both. GL and thanks for posting.
