  1. RUN!!!!!!!! I AM.
  2. every single day. I am not only a nurse at a icf facility i am also one of the house managers. Been only about a month in the HM position. Needless to say part of my nursing has suffered which i brought to our area supervisors attention yesterday. As of today I have logged 97 hours at 130 p.m. with 3 days left to go in the work period. I am overtime exempt. I was told I could take the rest of the week off since I felt overworked, tired, and my nursing judgement was obviously suffering because of this. We have a camp that is OPTIONAL for our clients, the ones that can talk anyway...lol, and I was told today that I HAD TO GO TO PASS MEDS. I am not the only HM that can give meds. Also, our QMRP doesn't want to go because she doesn't like outdoors. The way i see it, if she doesn't have to go, and i didn't volunteer to go, they shouldn't be able to make me. the thing with the staff happens all of the time. I am currently treating someone at another home with staph because the DSA's will not do as we keep telling them too when cleaning him. It's totally mindblowing. Wondering if I can claim safe harbor since i am mentally and physically drained. I have worked over 100 hours a pay period since taking this job and that is with me comping my time. I think I'm going back to LTC. I really love the clients though. In the end, management in ICF facilities (some of them)_ are not medically knowledgeable and our client suffer when staff leave because they have become attached. Sorry to keep rambling on, just frustrated about the whole thing I guess. Pt. care and management
  3. I've always had my own equipment. BP cuff, stethescope, thermometer. I don't use the wrist bp monitors either. they are not always accurate. it helps keep the bs down to a minimum, especially when there is an emergency. I would definately report this to whomever and if that doesn't work, then work your way up the food chain to get it done. Good luck.
  4. LMAO...I agree:lol2:
  5. The way I see it is this....you know what they say about opinions...lol I've been a LTC nurse and Nurse aide and am also an EMT. Luckily, I haven't run into an EMT who thinks this..that I know of.
  6. In my experience if one is confused and the other isn't, then I have explained to the one who isn't confused that it could be considered inappropriate behavior. Also, I have had talks with the families to get their take. This is just based on my own experience. Talk with your administrator or DON to see what should be done. Good luck.
  7. A bruise due to a cath? I don't think so. I have done many cath's and have never left a bruise; nor has anyone else I know. Like the previous post said...trust your gut. Something's not right.
  8. There's jobs available all over East Texas. I'm having to decide between 4 places right now. And that's just for LVN.
  9. I went to NTCC in Mt. Pleasant. We didn't have a test to take to get in. I had all of my RN prereqs done when applying for the LVN class. I was blessed and got in on the first try. They are an EXCELLENT school. 100% pass rate on NCLEX as far as I know. I know it was when I tested. Best teachers anyone could have.
