  1. sorry but systems here in PHIL are "Very" much diff. in other countries. If you have trainings and seminars, a better chance you have getting a slot in hospitals. Knowing someone in a position (doctor, admin, owner) of a hospitals is also a factor. I don't see anything wrong with trying to improve someone's skill and knowledge. By the way, it is also called "continouing education."
  2. I received my elig too! Planning to take it on AUgust!!!! God bless Us Guys...I purchased bulk of Cds' and Dvd's for my review(thousands of practice questions & live lectures w/mp3) and Saunders too!
  3. Sad but that's how "SOME" hospital in the PHILIPPINES goes. To get hired in a hospital, it's either you have a good board rating and trainings/seminars or "KNOW" someone (commonly known as "Backers"). BEsides, IV insertion, is taught theoretically, but most students weren't able to execute it to a live patient/person. I was able to do it since my CLinical instructor and my RLE group decide to do it secretly (not allowed by our school),though. We chose partners to practice on. Did great!1st time one shot! I "may" agree that it would be a waste if you have no plan to use it in the future. But if your purpose is to experience how actually it feels when doing it and find out it isn't that hard (since first times are always scary). SO by the time you are in a "REAL" hospital situation you'd be more confident in executing it since it's not the first time and you have an idea how to do it. ___________________________ "MY TEACHER BEFORE SAID "BEFORE I DIE, I WANT TO PLANT A TREE, WRITE a BOOK and TEACH others"
  4. SOme hospitals, like big and "reputable" hospitals "require" IVT training certificate before they accept an application for staff nurse. Some may not "require it" but once they see you had an IVT training, they consider you for a position or even "think of" might considering you. Since hospital replies took some time regarding applicant's application status, while waiting to get a job some fellow nurses choose to attend trainings rather than just stay at home doing nothing.
  5. exactly!it's not yet their time..That's what i felt before that's why didn't apply,"it's not yet my time to apply and work",not yet ready.. So I did what my parents want to, to take NCLEX first..so it'll be in August..After that hopefully i get hired as a staff nurse!! Anyway, I'm not picky when in comes to choosing which hospitals to apply for.. I'm very aware of the tough competion in getting a spot in hospitals now a days.. OK. they not unlucky! It's not their time yet (stand corrected) LOL!
  6. the reason of the sudden change may be found in this link. it may not be directly stated but since they're unholy action was busted they decide to change it so the dirt won't be shared to the new one. i reviewed in slrc before that's why i recommend it "before" since i found their review light and easy. but since they've done an illegal act i won't be pro slrc or be it cbrc. the consequences of what they did affected our reputations as filipinos and our pt's. it shouldn't be patronize anymore. i thought it was slrc baguio branch that has been raid. i was really shocked when i found out it was manila branch - carl balita's review center. even if they change the name. it desn't change a thing, it was them who was raided by the police this is my stand on this issue. _______________________________ "what the mind can conceive the body can achieve" :dancgrp:
  7. it's good to hear that there is still a hospital who do trainings for the "money"... i believe most hospitals lack staff nurses. based on the survey i heard in the news nurses is second to the most vacant job in the philippines, but they didn't include that there are lots of nursing grads and it's the hospital's choice not to hire many nurses. because they'll have to pay more if they do that. so they let their staff nurses suffer the consequences by giving them 5-8 is to 1 ratio (for some hospitals noy all; just an example) or let the work 12hrs. those who are lucky enough to be employed by tertiary and 200+ bed capacity hospitals, i envy. though i've no plans to work yet, but most i know who tried to apply didnt get a shot. they not lucky enough! ^_^ _______________________________ "i am a nurse that's why :tbsk: i care"
  8. ust offers ivt every month, said by the nurse i talked to once i called them. for the completion, you have to pay p250/day until you complete the cases. i think 1-2days is enough! but it'll be in other hospital not in ust hospital. anyway, they can arrange the completion for you. try to google their website and you'll find their contact numbers.:hrnsmlys: __________________________________________ "patience is a virtue"
  9. Hi Ms.Lenjoy! So u attended CETN,am i right? So what happened then?were you able to get a position as a staff nurse? I just wanna know how hard is it to get absorbed by hospitals even if you had your training with them. 'coz some i know had trianings but unfortunate to have a spot as a staff nurse..
  10. Whaaat??!!Imagine how much more when the bulk of new batch of june2008 passers join us in this "competition",it's really gonna be tougher!!And a lot more nurses will be produce every june and nov/dec!haayii!
  11. Philippine Heart Center Offers ACLS..I'm not sure with the price, i think it's P2k+,Philippine Nurses Association offers ACLS too. Just check you BLS cert if still valid 'coz what i know is it should be renewed every year.Philippine Nat'l RED cross offers BLS for only P1100.
  12. You might wanna try Paranaque Doctors Hospital. Some of my batch mates are currently working there. They Conduct free training w/ allowance of P150/day. Then after few months and observation on your performance you're status will be upgraded as well as the salary. So far this is the hospital I know in metro manila that is hiring and have to pay nothing for trainings etc. While jobless and waiting for call from hospitals, i suggest attending seminars and trainings offered by PHC,PGH,PNA,Nat'l kidney,MCM etc..
  13. Try to contact Philippine General Hospital ,UP manila, and Phil. Nurses Association.
  14. Exactly! being volunterr might not help you financially but it'll help you develop your skills. It's better than be like those I know who have no hospital exposure and struggle to have one and never given a chance even as volunteers. Try to look for hospitals that accept staff nurses with pay. You will find nothing. If you might then you are TRUe blessed person! Even I've know who graduated on a "reputable" (as what they call it) nursing schools are jobless. Yes, they tried applying in hospitals in Manila but most are freeze hiring, some accepts volunteers -but that's before- now most don't accept even volunteers, some offers training where you have to pay them to work there for 4-6 mos like makati med,PGH,Nat'l kidney. Paranaque Doctors Hospital train nurses and gives allowance as well. You might try applying there. Again, you have to set a long term career goal. If the hospital wherein you work with no pay have vacancy, you might fill it. I believe they'll consider you since you serve them for free before. This is what Filipinos are known for " matiyaga at matiisin." So be PROUD.
  15. So far St. Ignatius is the most expensive school I've seen. It's really expensive and it does not give you Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree unlike other schools in the Philippines which is not as expensive as their program. By the way what is this for?why are you looking for an expensive nursing school? For your Research? Try FEU,CEU,Manila Doctors College, and Fatima - they also have high passing rates and produces top notchers. Also look for DLSU in Dasmariñas cavite.
