  1. I got my acceptance letter today. Yay! I am surprise the gpa cutoff was actually lower this year. Congrats to everyone who got in.
  2. Omg! My friend got her acceptance letter. She is in! I wish I had my letter. Oh well. By the way, her gpa was a 3.974.
  3. Hi there, It's been a while since I've posted anything here, but I also will be waiting for my letter to come, along with everyone else here. This will be my second time around. I, too, had applied last year but my GPA did not make the cutoff. Because of that, I decided to take three of the classes over and now have a 4.0. I agree that it is ridiculous that many of us have limited choices, and in a way, are force to retake classes that were already decent grades to begin with. And just because one had retaken a class and ended up with a better grade, it doesn't guarantee that person will get in. Like my friend, she repeated three of her classes and now has a 3.974 but is worry that won't be good enough. Anyways, good luck to everyone here.
  4. I also talked with a counselor this week and she seems to think that they will still go by GPA for 2012 but wasn't too sure. She said that they are definitely going to change the criteria after next fall. There was a possibility of them implementing the TEAS test and doing interviews but again she couldn't tell me for sure. Because I am retaking 2 classes this summer, she told me to go ahead and repeat them because no one knows for sure what is going to happen(Ugh!). If they change the process before 2012, I am going to be very upset.
  5. I agree, picking the right instructors are very important. I don't know if ratemyprofessor is very accurate because I have had some teachers that were very good and others that were not so good and some of the comments made on there contradicted with what I would have said about that certain professor. By the way, I also heard about professor -----. and will be retaking him for A&P 1, although it is very hard to get into his class. Already his classes for the summer are full and there is even a waitlist to get into his classes. So in my opinion, the best way to find out about who to take, is to talk to others on campus. That is what I did to register for this summer because your GPA is so important you don't want to make the mistake I did. When I had returned to school in the Fall of 2009, I had no clue about the professors and just randomly picked one. Unfortunely, my teacher for A&P1 was new and had never taught A&P, as a matter of fact, her degree was biochemistry. Her teaching was bad and her test were insane. I ended up with a A-(which I worked very hard for) and that I was happy with that at the time because there were very few of us who received an A or A- in that class. But unfortunately, it looks like next year GPA cutoff is going to be a 4.0 or close to it and A-(3.7) is just not going to make the cut.
  6. Hi WANT2BANURSE, I agree, one day we will be great nurses. And you're right, we should not give up. For the summer session I signed up for Government with Dubin and for Comp 2 with Helminski. Are you taking any classes in the summer?
  7. This message is for want2beanursesoon I don't post too often, hardly at all. But I do lurk often and just had to respond to your post because I'm in the same position as you are in:crying2: My gpa is almost exactly the same as yours ( 3.82xx) and when I received my letter I was highly disappointed also:crying2:. I couldn't believe the gpa was going to be that high. And when I read your post you sound just like me. The classes you are repeating are the same classes that I am repeating to get that A. And yes it does stink when you have to repeat classes that you got a A- in. I have to do the same. Your plan is exactly what I am doing. I am retaking my classes over this summer which I already registered ahead of time in case something like this was going to happen. And if I don't end up with As in those classes, I am also going to apply for the LPN. I'm sorry you did not get in, but I just want to let you know your not alone:)
  8. Hello there, I had you in my A&P1 and I totally agree with your statement. I like the teacher I have now for A&P2 and I feel like my grades are finally reflecting the amount of time I put into studying. By the way, we are now on the Respiratory system and just finished up on the Endocrine and the Immune System.
  9. I got a A-. I am so glad it is over. Now I am going to just relax for the next 3 weeks until Anatomy 2 starts.
  10. Ifyouseeamy, I took anatomy 17 years ago and never had to memorize origins, insertions and all actions, only needed to name the muscles and their prime action. I know things have changed but this teacher was expecting too much from us especially when she combined two chapters together on one test (Chapter 9 &10, Elaine N. Marieb) and lab test(naming bones and muscles) in the same week each containing containing 100 questions each. And because the amount of information I needed to learn was overwhelming, I ended up more confused than ever. And I was doing pretty good on all the test until this one and so was my study partner. And I did study alot. So not only did we have to memorize 90 O,I and A but we had to memorize bones locations and Chapter 9, all in one week! And I didn't wait until last minute to study, I studied almost everyday.
  11. I just found out my test grade. I passed but it is not the grade I was hoping for and the class average was 61%.
  12. You got a 91. That's great. I'm hoping I get a C. What was the class average? Now I want to know what I got.
  13. I just had my muscle test today and I don't think I did very well. It is all so just overwhelming. I did use flashcards. The problem I am having is the teacher. I have a A- in the class, but after this test, I don't know. We had a lab test over bones and muscles Monday which contained 100 question. Then two days later we had a test exam which cover Chapter 9 (muscle tissue) and Chapter 10 (muscles origin) which she wanted us to know the origin, insertion and action to 95 of the muscles. This is her first year teaching anatomy and the amount of material she wants us to memorize is unreal. And I am not the only one who feels this way. By the way,for Mondays lab test the class average was 56% and the highest score was 88%. Even the top students with A,s in the class had a tough time with the lab portion. And after today,s test most of us walked out of the class feeling upset. could not
  14. the origins, insertions and actions to 95 muscles? And if you did how did were you able to study and memorize all?
