  1. I am a nursing graduate of Fl. It has changed my life. For the past year and a half I have been working on a med surg unit. I am currently working on a tele/ stroke unit. There is so much room for advancement when you get your RN. Continue with your studies and it will pay off. I am making 28 an hr now. I was making 20 when I was an LPN. I am also going to be trained in progressive care. I hope the best for all of you nursing students of Excelsior. It will pay off.
  2. I am also curious about Jacksonville South. What is the pay range for a nurse with experience. I have been a LPN for 5 years and a RN for 1 year with Medical surgical experience. I currently make 25.40 at a hospital In Tampa Bay. My wife and I are planning on moving in the spring to J- Ville. I wonder If salaries are similar up in northern Florida. I am also interested In St Vincent's.
  3. I live in Pinellas county and I work at Morton Plant a Magnet Hospital. I am RN Excelsior Graduate.
  4. I would let the wife be the bread winner and go back to traditional school. I am an Excelsior graduate, and I wish I went the traditional way, but I am already finished now. I am an RN in Florida, but I don't like the way this degree limits you from state to state. I never no if I will have to leave this state and go work in another state. I guess the only thing good about it is that I am getting experience as an RN.
  5. I would say don't to study so much specific material. The exams are similar too the NCLEX. They test your understanding not what we can memorize. I would say study so that you comprehend the material not memorize it. Shawn RN Excelsior graduate
  6. I am an RN graduate from Excelsior in Florida, and have had no prob in Fl. I got hired onto a Magnet Hospital on a GI floor in Clearwater. Excelsior changed my life! It's a great program. It took me a year an half. If you have any ?'s let me know?
  7. I have a question. If you are an RN in another state and have practiced nursing for a year, do you still have too do the 350 hours of preceptorship? All this wording is confusing.
  8. Does this new law allow you to endorse in with two years of RN experience from another state?
  9. If you need any more info let me know! Great benefits also!
  10. I am sure it is no where near That ratio. I work at a hospital that is connected with St Anthony's and our pt to nurse ratio is either 5 0r 6 to 1. We are also a magnet hospital. The Baycare system is the best hospital system to work for in the Tampa Bay area. I would never work with a 8 or 10 ratio. That is just plain dangerous! That is a good way to loose your RN license.
  11. I don't think the fight is over though. The mayor was backing the EC program, so we need to continue to fight to allow the EC program to continue in Georgia. Not just stop in 2010. I am however going to get licensed in Georgia before the cut off date even though I live Florida.
  12. I agree I would stay away from Lynn's method also it is too close to the rope method. I was nervous at my cpne using it. I would use the parachute method.
  13. Yea I totally feel for you nurses in Georgia! I having been praying for the nurses in Georgia. I think there might be some good that will come out of this meeting on Friday. I can't see them totally denying all of the nurses lic. I mean that would just indicate to me the board of nursing has no heart! Well the hospital that I will be working at has a child care facility on the campus. There is a long waiting list to get in, but the cost of the child care is $40.00 for an 8 hour day. There orientation process is 7 days in classroom and 6 weeks clinical preceptorship.
  14. What type of schedules? I got a job from 7 am - 7 pm. I was wondering if you thought of Florida? I live near the Clearwater area, or maybe even Jacksonville.
  15. Don't give up hope! I don't think it is open to the public, but I know the GNA is going to be there to represent the students and EC.
