  1. Amy if I were you I would just register for the courses and if you do get accepted just drop them. They give you a week or so to add/drop.
  2. Well I heard it from my friend who received her package about 2 weeks ago. It was a large package like the RN students receive it asked to complete certain items (immunizations, etc.) in order to officially acknowledge they want to be part of the Spring 2010 LPN program. You might have heard the December deadline in case the people who were extended the acceptance decline.
  3. I've heard there are certain people who have received their acceptance letters the Spring 2010 LPN program.
  4. Yeah I wasn't 100% sure but my brother just graduated from UF and that is why I had heard about the budget cuts. It is good that they are keeping the program that way it balances out for the other schools that are or have lowered the enrollment rate. Good luck! :)

sounds good. when will you be done with your pre-reqs?

here is the info i got from the fiu website: all necessary admission documents must be submitted by february 15 of the year preceding the summer term admission or may 15 of the year preceding the fall term admission. also, fiu requires finite math not algebra. i was told that college algebra at fiu is a lot harder than at other schools because it focuses more on higher level (trig/calc) maths than "algebra."
  7. Didn't UF stop all applications to the nursing programs because of budget cuts?

unfortunately no i will not be able to apply to fiu until fall 2010. i still need micro and AP2--i am currently doing chem. hopefully when i do apply i can get in. i have a girl in my prof nursing class that is applying for fall 2009. good luck! are you completely done with all your pre-reqs? i know you that you can be in prof nursing and communications when applying to the program. what is your gpa? how was the net?

right now it is still 50 students that are admitted each summer and fall semester. also FYI if you FAIL any science course you are pretty much disqualified for FIU's nursing program.
  10. Wow, and I thought WVWC doing a 78 as the lowest for a C was tough!
  11. Also this might be really dumb on my part but is there a difference between NAT and NET? Just wanted to double check because I heard (not sure if this is true) that the sections in this book are harder than the actual test itself and that there is an actual book called NET Study Guide that is better for the NET...but maybe I am looking to deep into this. Sorry but thanks for ALL you HELP!!
  12. The book carries 4 parts. It explains what the NET/NAT and TEAS (and other tests) are…but it fails to tell you which section to study for each. 1. Part 1: Information 2. Part 2: Practice for Registered Nursing - Verbal Ability - Math - Science (life science, biology, chemistry, ap1, ap2) - Reading Comprehension 3. Part3: Practice for Allied Health School - Verbal Ability - Quantitative Ability (includes algebra) - Science (biology, AP1, chemistry) - Reading Comprehension 4. Part 4: practice for Practical/Vocational Nursing - Verbal Skills - Arithmetic & Math - Health & Science (it gives a glossary of terms) - Reading Comprehension
  13. the sections within part iv (practice for practical/vocational nursing school entrance examinations) are: 1. verbal skills (antonyms, synonyms, spelling usage), 2.arithmatic & math, 3. health & science, and 4. reading comprehension…are these the ones that i will be seeing on the net? thanks so much for your help!!!
  14. Misswhitney since you used the Nursing School & Allied Health Entrance Exams book I wanted to see if you could help me out. Which section exactly is the one used for the FCCJ NAT? I know there are 4 sections...is section IV Practice for Practical/Vocational Nursing School Entrance Examinatons the part to go through or is it another section? Thanks!
  15. justblessed...WOW... this is kinda exciting to know all this information. when i apply for fall 09 i will totally be looking for that big envelope if i see a small envelope i will start to cry! thanks for the info!
  16. So when do classes for the summer start...May? Are they supposed to tell you guys by March? How many people do they normally accept per semester? Good luck to all!
  17. Thanks...just always like to double check. I am applying for Fall 09 but figured I'd ask on here since it's a more active thread. If don't get accepted for Fall (which I hope and pray I do) I will apply for Spring 09. Thanks! :)
  18. Did anyone apply while still taking Micro? I called the lady and she said it owuld be okay...does anyone have any suggestions on this?
  19. Obviously you are not reading correctly…I never said education wasn’t important, because if it wasn’t then I would not be getting mine to the point where I want to be a NP or a CRNA.
  20. where do you live? in florida they still hire adn nurses. i understand what you are saying but just know any field just because you have your bachelor’s does not guarantee everything will be great. like barefootlady said, being able to treat the patient with “respect” is what is more important. i am going into the field because i want to help people not because of the pay. i am not bad mouthing bsn nurses because i myself eventually will do the time education-wise to become an np or even crna, it all depends on what god has for my calling. when i get to that point i would never say one nurse is less of a nurse because of the type of degree they have, i believe that is wrong!
  21. Ok I know this might cause someone getting upset but here it goes...I have friends that are BSN nurses and work with both ADN and BSN nurses. They tell me some of the BSN nurses do not really know what they are doing as opposed to some ADN nurses that know more. I had gallbladder surgery July of this year. I had a BSN nurse taking care of me--can you believe that she did not that know what a gallbladder surgery was? She freaked me out because I had recently come out of surgery and she was giving me wrong information! Later that day I had an ADN nurse taking care of me and she told me everything was okay and made sure to get the doctor to explain to me that everything was okay. The funny thing is that where I had it done they have this kind of surgery on a daily basis; it's very frustrating to see that some nurses with higher education aren't all that well prepared...
  22. Yes, I was talking to misswhitney and she gave me awesome information! Thanks guys!!
  23. Okay I am not sure if we are allowed to ask this on here but if we are not I am sorry. Can anyone elaborate on how tests are? I am in a school right now and I have freinds that tell me that for their tests they have to study 12-15 chapters. Is this how the tests for FCCJ are? --Thanks!
  24. I am also going to be applying to the Fall 09 program. I am taking Algebra and AP 2 right now. I am going to be taking Micro during the summer which is the only other pre-req I would need. I really hope I do well on the NAT to be able to get around the cut off for the points. Serendipity how did you study for the NAT? Or maybe I should what did you study for it. Where did you take the test at? I have it scheduled for April since the application dates are from April 1-June 1 I think. Also I will be getting my CPR from a class I am taking right now.
  25. Do any of you know a good site or book or something to study the NAT questions?
