  1. I am also interested knowing what schools you have attended & failed your NP exams. Thanks,
  2. I agree that you need to be certified in the area you teach. I am 100% pro certification if you are working/teaching in an area you may need to use the skills. I am a PCCN nurse ACLS certified and teach an acute care facility as well as work part time there. If i did not work there I would think twice about PCCN but not ACLS. You (faculty) need to set the example for the students.
  3. Finished in July and I coudl give you a list of suggestions my biggest being DO NOT MAKE IT A HUGE PROJECT Good Luck
  4. We have been working on this for 2 years and my biggest comment is that you must have management buyin or it will fail, next you need staff buyin, it will not be shared governance if it is 3 staff members doing all the work and they are the only one attending the meetings, If you have that in place go for it and be patient, it will take time to reap the benefits but in the long run has been good for my unit.
  5. In one sentance -- unsafe -- get out -- been there done that -- got bit -- do not look back
  6. As a former LTC nurse I can tell you that 57-60 at any time is not safe. Yes on the night shift you will haev down time but there are care plans that can be done and audits ect.... there is no safe situation where there are that many residents to one nurse. The department of health woudl love to hear from you. look for a new job and CYA
  7. I live 63 Miles 1and 1/2 hrs each way. Rural living has its downsides also but I love my job :)

  9. Well for starters I am faculty at the Bratt. campus not in Midd. second the schedule is dependent on the facility you are doing your clincial at. third each campus sets their own schedule. fourth try contacting the campus not admissions and ask what this years schedule is and see if that will help you. fifth I do not even knwo my schedule yet for next year because we are still setting up clincal sites.
  10. Hello, Congrats on your acceptance I am sorry I can not help you with the schedule on that campus. you can try contacting the campus and ask them if they have a tentive schedule for next fall yet. I can tell you there is fall orientation on the randolph campus Fri Aug 21 2009 all day. Michelle
  11. Hello, I can tell you that clincal days are 2x per week and days will not be known until closer to fall. The classes will include papers and projects. you will have 1 or 2 days off per week if you only need the above classes. Each campus sets it's own class schedule. Hope this helps!
