  1. Congratulations!!! GOD is good, all the time!
  2. That's pretty cool!! Good luck with the interview! If you've had it already, let us know how it went.
  3. I did not think that you can extern when you have not completed Block 1....has that changed?
  4. I know that Banner takes into consideration your NET scores, your GPA, your application essay answers and your prereq completions into account. Unfortunately, I cannot tell you how they weigh all of those things out when determining whom to call for an interview and final acceptance though.
  5. I want your shift when I graduate. I want to work part time. But I am sure that it is better for me to work full time first and then transition to part time. I have three kids under 9 yo at home also. Thanks again for everyone's input. It seems like most of you work the 12 hour shifts.
  6. Thanks for everyone's answers.
  7. Thanks, much!!
  8. Does anyone know what scrubs we will be wearing for the Banner program? Is it the same as the MCCD Nursing program (the teal one w/MCCD logo)?
  9. I applied at the same time that you did, Oct '07 to the MCCD program. I was told that the wait was 1 to 1.5 year wait. I also applied to the Banner Fellows program in Jan '08 and was accepted - starting Block 1 on 7/14. I do believe that the more schools/programs that you are willing to attend (read: flexibility), then your wait time will decrease. However, if you are only wanting 1 particular program at 1 particular school - you have extended your wait time.
  10. What hours do you work and what dept/unit do you work in? I have an understanding that most units are run on 12 hr shifts, 7-7pm or 7-7am...I am sure that is not the case for every department. However, I was wondering what is a normal shift for any given unit? After seeing the thread about the Baylor plan, I was wondering about the variety of shifts that are out there.
  11. Aawww, I am sorry to hear that. I pray for the best for you and your family. I know that you have to do what's best for your family right now. I am sure that you will find a way to reach your goal. Take care and God Bless!
  12. I will be 41 when I am completed and am turning 40 in August.
  13. Just wait, the furnace that we call Phoenix weather will soon be upon us. I have a love/hate relationship with it and much prefer the mild winters much better than the heat. Hubby won't entertain the thought of moving, so I am stuck. Ideally, I am looking for mild weather all year long in the 80's w/low humidity, no snow, no earthquakes, no hurricanes, no tornadoes, and very little year-long snowbirds...so I really am truly stuck. LOL!
  14. I am sorry to hear that. I am sure that we will meet out there somewhere, though. Keep the faith!
  15. Mine is due by 5/30/08. Mine was for Glendale CC.
  16. Congrats Kangoshi08!! I got my letter on Saturday and I got in also. I am nervous, but I am sure that it will all be OK.
  17. Non-nurse experience, "heard thru the grapevine", regular guy on the street says: patients go there TO die. I have not heard anything good about that hospital since the years when it was brand spanking new.
  18. That's what I wanted to know, I assumed (bad I know!) that since it was connected with Mesa CC, that it pertained to the Sun City down there near Queen Creek and not out in the West Valley - so I had ixnayed that choice altogether.
  19. Isn't Boswell part of the Mesa CC Nursing Program?
  20. I agree that you have to come here and drive the areas to get a feel for the different communities. I agree with the pp who stated that ALL cities in the metro area have good and bad areas (if you drive far enough). I live in Glendale and am looking to move to Litchfield Park....I have always lived in the west valley and I love it. My InLaws live in a decent area in Mesa, but if you go a few blocks to the south, there's really questionable areas and if you go further east, there are uber nice ranch homes with acreage (this is true all throughout the valley - including Scottsdale).
  21. I would never recommend taking BIO 202 w/your nursing program. If you are dedicated enough, take it during the summer when it's the only class that you are taking...you're still expected to learn the same amount of stuff in 8 weeks (or however long the summer courses are) as you are in the regular fall/spring semester. Although, it is a co-requisite, you are much much wiser to take it before your nursing program begins (certainly not during).
  22. I apologize I do not have the exact answer....but I know that either the July or October cohorts will be held at Estrella Mtn CC or Glendale CC....sorry I cannot remember which one is which.
  23. Sorry to quote myself, but the typo was meant to say that I am sorry that you did not make it in to the next cohort...typing and thinking at the same time should be disallowed. I have not received anything yet either...in the interview they said they would finish their interviews in May and mail out letters. So.............just waiting....and waiting.....:zzzzz........and trying to determine if I wanna take my HCR classes for ASU's BSN.
  24. I'm in Glendale also and just like any city in the valley, there's good areas that have questionable pockets spread throughout. Most east valley people prefer the east valley and vice versa where ever you point the compass in the valley. Your best bet is to drive through areas that you like. The city is growing rapidly, so there are a lot of transition areas. But this should be true of any city in the US.
  25. I, also, am also that you were not chosen. I guess that I should check my mail, I have not heard anything yet...they said in the interview that they won't be sending out acceptance letters until May.
