  1. I applied to the RN to BSN program and I still have not heard anything. I talked to them on the phone and they said this week they are mailing letters. They said they are prohibited from telling someone whether they got in or not. I am scheduled to attend the orientation for the college of HHS tomorrow, though - not sure how that will work out but I signed up a while ago assuming I'd know by now. I can't easily make the other orientation sessions so I am fine with going, I am just annoyed that I have to go not knowing whether or not I got in.
  2. Congratulations and good luck on the new job!
  3. I graduated from the online program and still had 2 days per week that were weekdays when I had to be basically only doing school. I don't think anyone I knew did it without child care.
  4. oscarandmax - it sounds like yours is not yet saying "delivery confirmed". That is what mine said earlier today when my status was "ready for delivery" or "pending delivery" (something like that). I think you have to wait for your "status" to change when you go to "current activity" on Pearsonvue. good luck! I got the pop-up both times, but it was annoying waiting for it to change.
  5. I took the nclex an hour ago, and just tried the "trick". It didn't let me register again, I don't know what to think, though because I felt like the questions were too easy, no way could I have been above the passing standard. So I guess now I sit and wait.
  6. That was quick! I got it in email just now. I guess they sent something electronically and it got messed up the first time somehow. Woo-hoo!
  7. Yes, I paid it back in mid March. I can log in and check that. They just never got any information from the BON that I was eligible to test. Or at least that's what they told me over the phone. Really, really frustrating. I will be lucky to test before I start work on July 20 at this rate.
  8. I called the BON again. They said they'll resend it and I should hear something within a couple of days.
  9. Wow, good to know. I sent in my paperwork around March 16 or so and still never got my ATT. I think I am going to be calling them again. Good luck on the NCLEX, btw!
  10. How long did it take you after you got your eligibility letter from the VA board, until you got your ATT? I got my Eligibility one week ago and still no word about my ATT. I've called Pearson VUE and was told to call the state board because they don't have anything saying I am eligible. Is this typical, or should I ask the BON to send them another copy or something? I am going nuts here. :uhoh21:
  11. I know a lot of people having a hard time finding work that just graduated with me (last week). I am one of the lucky ones who got an offer, and I do know of some who got jobs. So there is some work even for non-BSN nurses. But jobs are really not easy to come by around here right now (Northern VA here).
  12. I have heard they are having problems with their accreditation right now. That's all I know though - no specifics.
  13. Thanks! I am so happy to be done, you're right - now the only thing that stands in the way is NCLEX. I hope to get my ATT in the next couple of weeks!
  14. I dropped down to 30-32 hours per week in the nursing program when I started my clinicals. They advised us to only do 20 or fewer hours of work per week, but I had to keep health insurance for my kids. I don't think I could have done it without a spouse that was so supportive though. Many days I did almost nothing around the house or with the kids. He really shared my goal though and was happy to help, and that is key. He was not resentful for me to have school obligations, so it didn't hurt our relationship. I did it - and I got one of the top GPAs in my program. But everyone is different - many failed who didn't even work during the week. You just have to know what you can do.
  15. I guess I'll post on here! I just graduated from NVCC's ADN program last week. I start in July at Georgetown in the Neurosurgical ICU.
  16. Congratulations! Good luck, krenee!
  17. I finished school last week and am awaiting my ATT. I got a job offer in late February and accepted then. I start in July. I started applying for jobs in the semester before my final semester - I was able to sign up for several career events that way before others filled up the slots, so I had a few opportunities others in my class didn't because they waited until their last semester. I advise looking around very early, earlier than you think you would have to!
  18. I got hired at GUH but I don't start until July. Everyone there seemed really happy both when I interviewed and when I shadowed. I don't know about which hospitals are well regarded, honestly. You will hear people trash talk just about every hospital, I've noticed, you just have to try and see where you feel comfortable - also note what their complaints are - some have more merit than others.
  19. I am not sure either. I've applied there but haven't heard anything. I keep hearing that many hospitals don't get their budgets until later in the year.
  20. I have interviewed with Children's, and I was told that most units won't have their budget until late Feb or early Mar. so they will not know until then exactly how many new grads they can hire. What that means is they usually will know the top couple of people before then - some units make those people offers and some wait until they get their final numbers. I was told that if I got an offer before I heard from them, to call them back and tell them the situation and they will try and figure out if they're at the point that they can make an offer at that time. So keep looking - if you do get an offer, you can leverage that to try and get more info from Children's if that is your number one place.
  21. I don't agree that there is a surplus of jobs here in DC. Not by a long shot. I don't know the situation in NYC so it could plausibly be better, but I wouldnt say the job situation here is good at all. It seems like for every opening right now there are 50 people applying.
  22. I applied around Christmas and got called back the first week of January. However, the unit I applied to doesn't even know how many people they are budgetarily allowed to hire until the end of Feb., so it could be that other units don't even want to call people until they have a firm number of spots first. Every unit is different.
  23. Flames, That is awesome that you got to pick your own clinical! I am very envious. I like my clinical but it takes me an hour to get there. I think I've been spoiled by living close in and I've never had clinical more than 20-25 minutes away.
