What factors are important when nursing someone with depression
Finding an opening to motivate the patient into accepting an activity that they could enjoy seemed to me to be the most difficult task . Depression seems to engulf any positive ideation or positive activity & derails all. Very hard to communicate with a depressed client, so i find. Good luck safta24

How are you spending your retirement?
Hi I retired when I moved to be closer to my daughter & grandkids. i was so happy being a grandmother I never looked for a job. That's how I became retiredd. then I became on Ombudsman (always wanted to do that kind of work., loved being one. Had more time on my hands, took a spanish class for seniors, more time gave our local library 4 or more hours a week Once a month registered donors to give blood. more time? Volunteered at the local hospital to answer lights. It was so great the diversity the pleasures of being a nurse in so many different capacities. Hope yu enjoy your retirement as much. safta24

LPN doesn't want dying patient to go to hospice.
Can't say I underwstand why docs would object or not like patients dying at home? Isn't focus on care at this terminal point? Whom would one call if a patient dies at home? Who all can pronounce death? Safta24

regarding age entering nursing
in reference to entering nursing at later ages. Way back I entered nursing at 23 while the others in my class were new high school grads. As our clinical experience progressed so did my opinion of what ages should nurses to be start their career. I felt the more mature person which I thought I was, was better equipped to cope with patients mostly older than themselves. Always wondered how patients felt about a young nurse knowing enough to take care of them a bit of a ramble here, sorry safta24

LPN doesn't want dying patient to go to hospice.
Something doesn't sound quite right. The LPN at present giving care should be thrilled at the idea of being involved with the hospice authorities., hence being assured that their care will be magnified in its efficiency quotient. Can't visualise all the doctores being confused about ordering hospice. Surly one primary doc would talk with patient & between them decide good luck to the patient safta24

MORPHINE and Dying Patients
Appreciate reading your concerns regarding using too much morphine. As an RN (retired) now with severe emphysema I am hoping & praying that my future nurse will be one to make sure I am in no pain & doesn't worry about giving too much morphine. thank you for letting me in here. Safta24
