  1. Technology has helped nursing progress but the care is not as good as 30 years ago!!! We also lost respect when we stopped with hats n white. We never worried about getting sued. We had less pt so good give better care. Hospitals were clean!!
  2. Say no and don't feel guilty! take care of yourself!!!
  3. I work for a Peds homehealth care agency. I have been sick with a Uri and thought I would give the agency a heads up that I might not be better for my shift tomorrow night. I work with vent and trach kids. My boss was not nice on the phone nor understanding. What kind of world are we in when you can't be sick and you try to I do the right thing and get blasted for it? Kinda hurt my feelings. Why does doing the right thing theses days not matter?? Is it just me? If I had a vulnerable child no way would I a sick nurse care for my child!!
  4. I felt like that watching a surgery once. It's happened to most of us
  5. I agree with Bronze!!!
  6. Just focus on one step at a time and use all the resources you find on the internet and most of all never give up!!!
  7. I was at a case the other day and this family is already being monitored by Child Protection. The 2 year old was left by mom to roam the house while mom slept. He is not my patient ! I told the agency and they didn't say much but I have to go back there and will they know I reported them? The baby I care for is complex but I couldn't not watch the 2 year old.

Took a total of 7 weeks to endorse to Texas. I called every week or it would have taken longer.
  9. You can do it !!!
  10. I know how you feel. lpns aren't valued like they used to be but here in Texas they do have more options.

the temporary license took about 3 weeks but I have been waiting for my permanent for six weeks so apply for that long before your temporary is expired. They are very slow and I call every week. Very frustrating.
  12. Why is Texas nursing board so slow??It has been weeks now and every time I call I get the runaround. Trying to endorse from Minn to Texas. Last time I called after a month she said it had still not been looked at. What can I do ? I need to be working and they don't seem to care!!
  13. I am trying to get a Texas license from Minn and it has been a month already. I called today and they are still processing and she said I can't work until I get that but a agency here said I can. Minn is not a compact state so I have to wait. The agency says they call them to move it along but I don't think that is right. I feel until I get that I would be practicing without a license . I feel I have to go by what the board says and not what the agency RN saysx. What do u think??:
  14. Look at Excelsior lpn to rn, i think they accept corpsman in that program!!
  15. I went thru almost the whole Excelsior lpn to RN program but it took me over the 7 years and now I cant finish there. Does anyone know in LPN to BSN at Indiana State University if EXcelsior credits transfer there? IT would be such a shame to lose all theses credits and hard work. Excelsior is not un:uhoh3:derstanding in this way.
  16. I am a 53 year old nurse who left the hospital as couldnt take on my feet all day and lifting. Can anyone tell me are you on your feet all day in the clinic also?
  17. That was a very poor thing to do!! You know you have to have original copies. I can see how some would get fired over this. Remember a chart is a legal document and none will back you when you cut corners. Let this be a lesson to you and always follow proper polices and procedures as there is a reason why they are in place. Admit it was wrong and never do it again and maybe review what you were taught in school about charing.
  18. Remember they are just people and the more time you are with them the more you will get to know them. Give yourself some time to get used to it . You cant fix the confusion and watch how other nurses and aides handle it and it will help you learn.. We are all nervous in new areas. Good luck.. Some days it is frustrating and other days you will laugh alot..
  19. Your body and mind are telling you you need to find a different job, the beauty of nursing is when you burn out in one area you can go to something totally different and be refreshed. Dont suffer anymore, make the changes you need to be happy. All nurses can go thru this!!
  20. You learned a big lesson so dont beat yourself up:):) but never ever assume what a MD will do. Dont ever write your own order. Always follow policy and not what anyone tells you. Dont give up, this is part of the process of learning nursing. IT is stressful but as you learn more and become more confident you will feel more comfortble.
  21. I went to resume builder and built my resume and then just copied it so I didnthave to pay, itis now a real nice resume..love it..
  22. I dont think new grads belong in the ER. If I were you I would get at least a year on a Medsurg floor. That would make you more well rounded and give you the experience you need. If you go back to the ER with not much experience you may have issues again. We all had to start out new and that doesnt mean you are not a good nurse but you need experience more than anything!! Er will always be there and you will feel more confident if you become more well rounded.
  23. Prayers your way.. Stay strong..
  24. Go to Resumebuilder. You can get one down for 15.00 Worth it.
  25. I would say no. As an LPN i have been floated and if I dont feel qualified I just tell them. You always have to stay in your scope of practice, u cant get in trouble fot that but u can get in trouble if you did that and something went wrong. Always protect your license and pt by doing the right thing.
