hi all. When (if) your agency or office is hiring for more nurses, how do you advertise? One of my co-workers is in this huge tiff because we are hiring two new nurses from an ad in Monster.com. She feels that we should have gone through a more "trad...
hi. I'm thinking about switching over to phsyciatric nursing. I was always fascinated with the mental health field and it seems like it could work out ot be a life long interest. But I'm concerned about burn out and personal safety. Can anyone shar...
I've definitely come across a few places that do that. They feel like they suddenly have a great excuse to cut corners and overwork their own staff. Not a very good long term plan, though. I just want to shake this one manager and yell at him "if yo...

oh wow. You all have my sympathies. I have the ocassional migraine but they aren't too debilitating. Typically I just need to go into a dark room and sleep if I can. Sometimes I think I should get one of those sensory deprivation tanks.
does anyone here take part in the hiring for their office/department? Maybe that would be helpful for tips. A friend of mine in Texas hires for her agency and she says Monster.com gives her the best resumes.
where do ya'll post your job listings? We're looking to bring in more people to work here and we'd like to extend the reach beyond industry specific sites. I think Monster.com would be a good start. Does anyone have experience with this?

ugh, how obnoxious. I've been getting spam on my cell phone. I didn't even know that my phone could receive text messages until some ephedra jerks sent me three in a row!
I couldn't agree more. All this noise about fat taxes and banning vending machines is just that.. noise. Until our culture puts a value on reasonable meal portions, increased exercise, and moderation we will have the same problem. Banning a specific ...
thats fantastic. I'm glad you at least have that on your side. One of the biggest benefits to VNS is the lack of side effects, specifically those common to AEDs. Has it helped his postictals as well? How have things been going?
How has the VNS been working for you thus far? Did you see much improvement? Is it possible that changing the implant to a new setting will help your son? Hang in there. We'll be thinking of you.
I mix it up some. Mostly anything I have that is comfortable and (obviously) not open-toed. Sigh... I have to save showing off that pedicure for the weekends. Usually I'll wear some athletic shoes or some cute bowling shoes I picked up from Payless. ...
Found this while doing some research and thought it was rather encouraging. So many women (and men, really) have ugly side effects from AEDs. Its good to see a seizure disorder treatment that won't put a fetus at risk. Anyway, I thought it might be o...
I am sorry to hear for your friend who had to worry like that. I've heard (though have not had it confirmed) that it can be a toss up as to weather AEDs or seizures are worse for a growing fetus. Either way, its a lot of pressure to put on a woman tr...
this is all great news. I've read the 1/3 statistic as well. But I'd say the majority of the patient feedback I read/hear about is positive. Though I suppose even "somewhat" improvement is still a pretty big positive when you have a seizure disorder....
hi there. I'm relatively new but I do lurk a bit. I'm wondering if anyone here has experience with VNS? Its the Vagus Nerve Stimulator and I know that it is implanted in the chest and then a lead wire along the vagus nerve. I would just love to spea...
wow. Thanks for the responses everyone. I guess first of all I'd like to know about how effective you've found the device to be. What are the side effects? Are they comparable to the side effects of AEDs? Is there a certain type of patient that find...
