  1. good luck
  2. I think you can achieve results with honey not vinegar. I think the black light idea is great....make it a group contest with random testing. You could split it up by shifts, or teams, or positions...but tell them you will have random daily (or weekly) checks....drawn from a hat or something....whatever team wins over the month wins the right to brag or breakfast, or trophy.....something. Everyone loves a great competition and it motivates everyone because they don't want to be the reason their team loses. just an idea
  3. I read a great article on charting... cover all area of the nursing process...this will assure you cover all areas.
  4. I understand all of your points...but seriously...if someone doesn't pass after their 3rd time, maybe they haven't learned/retained the information they learned. If you read the NCLEX info....it says passing it shows that you are capable of the MINIMUM of care. So if they can't pass the boards by their 3rd time, maybe they need to re-learn the basics, review, and re-test. As a nurse, lives are in our hands...that's not something to barely skim by.
  5. It took most people I know (that have finished) about 4 semesters to finish.
  6. Good Luck! It takes a strong person.
  7. I'm also taking in a month and any tips would be appreciated!
  8. CONGRATS!!! - you earned it!
  9. It's an ongoing debate. I live in FL and some say there is and some say not, but by researching....our local hospital has about 25 posts for RN positions....and the other hospitals are similiar....that screams shortage to me.
  10. From what I've heard from classmates...everyone that had 85 questions passed! The theory is if you are doing good and already passed the correct % of questions by 85 then you already qualified to pass, so it shuts off....however some random people (myth is 1 out of 100) have to take all 205. But by all of our students, at 85 you should be good. GOOD LUCK!
  11. good to know, thanks
  12. From my experience: While doing your pre-req's working full time is possible...try to do some of your easy classes online to help your crunch. Check the teacher reviews about your class and time req'd at rateyourproffesor.com. During a full-time nursing program (post-pre-req's) I would NOT advise working full time. In my class of 30 there were several of us that started off working full-time and eventually we all cut back (all except 2). Those two made it possible by working a CNA baylor shift (friday night, sat, and sun). This was very tough for them but at least it left the weekdays to study. In my nursing program we had tests daily and working more than a couple hours after school each day would have been next to impossible. GOOD LUCK!
  13. I'm glad you are asking this question...I'm in the same situation. Is a doctor's office LPN paid different than elsewhere? What should I expect without insurance being offered at an office?
